  1. Duplicate/ copy-paste object inside same group

When I duplicate (alt+drag) an item that’s within a layer, the duplicate will be pasted outside the group in the layer panel.

What I expect to happen is the duplicate to be pasted directly above the original, within the same group. When multiple groups are selected I expect each layer to be pasted above their original item inside each group, or ask me I i’d like to place them above each other.

At least give us the option how this behaves in the layer panel. It’s annoyingly time consuming to have to manually put them back into the group instead…

  2. Option to minimise titlebar (as implemented in Bridge)

I recently noticed that in Bridge the titlebar is scaled down 50%.
It would be good if this would be implemented in InDesign (and Illustrator and Photoshop) too.
Being it an option in the preferences > user interface scaling would be even more practical and logical.

  3. Make UI Scaling NOT affect document scaling

The recently-added UI Scaling feature also scales the size my document is displayed! Why?? When I type command-1 to view my document at actual size, I expect an 8.5 x 11 page to be that size on the screen. But if I increase the scale of the UI (tools, pallets, etc.) it also increases the "actual size" scaling of my document so it's much bigger than it should be. So, in other words, the UI scaling should NOT affect the scaling of the document rulers; 1" should always be displayed at 1".

  4. UI Keep Options dialog (and Keep Options in Paragraph Styles)

Can you please change the layout of the Keep Options Dialog Box so that it is clearer for end users? Attached you find a proposal from my part.
    The differences are:
    • More space between "Keep with Previous" and "Keep with Next" + added a line in between them.

    • Keep with Previous and Keep with Next. In the original it seems like you have to check the first (Keep with Previous) and to use the second (Keep with Next).

    • Indetation of the radio buttons under "Keep Lines Together" so that it is obvious that they are both part…

  5. Dark mode support for macOS InDesign in open/save dialogue windows

When opening or saving in InDesign the dialogue window does not support dark mode when dark mode is turned on in macOS 12.5.

  6. InDesign home screen options

It would be great if on the InDesign home screen you could:
    • sort recent jobs by name
    • display preview icons at different sizes, and

    • have an X to remove a file from your recent jobs preview list.

  7. Scroll while editing Paragraph, Character, or Object style

I usually have "Preview" checked while I'm editing a style to see how my changes affect the paragraph and everything surrounding it. The Style Options window is often blocking much of my view, even if I move it to the side, so I have to hit OK or Cancel, scroll so I can see everything, and then go back into editing the style. It would be useful if I could scroll while the Style Options window is open, much like I can while the Find/Change window is open.

  8. Put Distribute Spacing icons in the Control Bar

I use these controls along with the align controls every day. There's no reason they can't be grouped together with the align controls in the control bar.

I keep all my tool palettes on a second monitor, so the Align buttons in the control bar are 30" away from the Distribute Spacing icons in the Properties panel of the second monitor.

  9. Add shortcut to clean up open panels

I often lose a panel when I'm working. A shortcut and/or View menu item to rearrange open panels so they do not overlap would save me a LOT of time hunting for them.

  10. Standardize action of Ctrl-F (should be Find/New Find, not toggle Find window)

In ID, Ctrl-F (Cmd-F) toggles the Find/Change window open and closed.

Only the first instance behaves in a globally correct manner, by opening the F/C window if it is closed, and placing the cursor in the "Find" field.

Every other application of the last several decades then uses Ctrl-F to start the next new search, by placing the cursor in the Find field.

ID instead toggles the F/C window shut, and any user conditioned (by, again, every other app in use) to start typing a new search term finds themselves typing into the document instead.

    While the Find/Change feature has…

  11. View menu > Fit Page Width to Screen

    1. Add a command under the View menu—Fit Page Width to screen.

    2. When I'm editing and formatting type, I like to make the type as large as possible, but still fit the page width to the screen, so I don't have to scroll.

  12. Maintain the Layers Panel scroll position when switching between documents.

Maintain the Layers Panel scroll position when switching between documents.
At the moment when you switch between documents the scroll position of the Layers Panel 'resets' to showing the top most item in the layers list.
On documents with many layers (where the scroll bar is present) every time you switch documents you have to scroll down to find the active layer. Very unproductive.

  15. It is very troublesome to select fonts

It is very troublesome to select fonts from a list when managing a large number of fonts. Also, even when selecting font names by typing, it is difficult to select candidates if there is a typing error.
Please create a modern font selection feature.

  16. The "Find and Replace Fonts" dialog box

The "Find and Replace Fonts" dialog box does not allow searching and replacing fonts included in a composite font.
    This is inconvenient.

  18. Open maximised documents as NO Tabs...

...AND retain menu bar + all tools...
(We can browse open pages with ctrl + ` - tabs are not needed!)
It could help spare some place we're loosing for unneeded, visible all the time, tabs now.

Similar problem - menu bar is so big... :/ It takes space, too. Couldn't be thinner? :/

Plz take a look at screenshot...

  19. I want to lock the palettes so I don't dislodge them accidentally

I have a tremor in my hands and dislodge my palettes when I try to open them. They are so sensitive! My tremor doesn't impact my work in any other way but this. It is frustrating and embarrassing when I am teaching InDesign to others. I have customized my workspace and I would like to "lock" it so I can't accidentally dislodge palettes. Of course I would still need to open and close and expand them as needed.

  20. Enable more control panel and app bar customization

Please enable greater customization of the control panel (the top/bottom panel from the Essentials Classic workspace).

I realize you can customize which tools are included, however, it takes up too much space. Even if I reduce the number of tools to very few, the panel takes up two rows worth of space and all the tools are stacked (in two rows) at the far left of the panel. You also cannot arrange the order or position of the various tools.

I hate how much space the panels take up on the screen and that's part of the reason I like…
