Adjust scroll amount on zoom
Currently when scrolling with the mouse-wheel/trackpad etc, InDesign seems to apply the same amount of scrolling regardless of the level of zoom in the document. This means that a very small scroll gesture, when zoomed in close on a page, causes the document move too far, making scrolling and panning very difficult at high zoom levels.
It would be great if the scroll amount would scale with the level of zoom, so that a small scroll gesture used at a high level of magnification would only result in a small scroll/pan amount.

Drop unit when clicking property fields
For example, if I click on Font Size when it says 10 pt, it should automatically drop the 'pt' before I start typing. Retyping the value is always faster than trying to move the insertion point and highlighting only the numbers to avoid getting an "invalid value" message because you accidentally typed over the 'p' in 'pt'. Else you have to always double-click the field, but sometimes that fails to highlight everything for one reason or another. There's no real use case for leaving the unit in the box when entering a value I've ever encountered.

Mention the layer at the bottom of the window or in the Control Panel
You have to open the Layer Panel to check what layer you're working on. It would be a time saver if the active layer is mentioned somewhere else in the UI.

Open Current File Location
It would be amazing if you add Open Current File Location under the "File" dropdown.
It is a really minor thing, but it would significantly impact productivity.

Match pasteboard to theme is fine, but it would be helpful to be able to tint the pasteboard.

Please add this functionality! Want to map a mouse button for instant document panning. I can do it in Windows 10, but not MacOS.

Unresolved cross references need to be detected as errors
If a document contains unresolved cross-references, InDesign should register them as errors that show up at the bottom of the main window, with specifics listed in the Preflight window. At present, InDesign will notify me of the existence of unresolved cross-references when I start to print a file or book, and it will identify which files contain them, but it won't show me where to find them so I can fix them.

InDesign for iPad/Mac cross-compatibility
The iPad Pro has the M1 chip now. Why not have InDesign for iPad? Now that iPads have the same hardware as Macs there's no reason not to have one app that works on both.

PLEASE TURN OFF the 'Type 3 fonts no longer supported after 2023" message
PLEASE TURN OFF the 'Type 3 fonts no longer supported after 2023" message, it is very annoying for the many legacy documents I must work on. YES I know! That is two years away and there seems to be no way to make the blue bar go away.

Customisable colours for composition highlights
I’d like to change the colours used to highlight custom tracking, H&J violations, substituted fonts etc. Some of the default colours are not very accessible, or stand out more than needed.

Turn off Touchscreen Workspace permanently! Or allow Users to!
Can Adobe PLEASE stop making the Touch workspace compulsory every time the app launches. Not all users want this. We didn't ask Adobe to turn off our usual interface and replace it with a Touch version.
When we have to go through the mandatory 'hey look at this new example - now click get started' EVERY TIME just to get into the app, only to have to then turn it off by choosing "essentials" (top right) again EVERY TIME we launch the app, it becomes a major pain.
Who on earth at Adobe throught this would be a good idea?…

drag and drop .indd file into book panel
Whenever I add the .indd document to the book panel, I need to add each file via finder. At this time, if the target files are located in several different folders, I have to do several iterations. drag and drop features will reduce this repetitive work.

Add page range option to find/change
find/change dialogue box > SEARCH field drop down menu
Add ability to select a page range.
This would be particularly useful when it comes to replacing swatches. Let's say you have a section of a book that is GREEN and another section that is BLUE. If you had a range option you could easily use find/change to swap the two colors but as of right now, this is not the case. You have to use a temporary GREY as a placeholder, find/change the BLUE to GREY, then the GREEN to BLUE, and finally the GREY to GREEN. It feels like…

User-definable colors for highlighting H&J Violations
With checked Preferences / Composition / Highlight H&J Violations, the default colors for highlighting them (against paper background) are yellow and violet, plus some shades of them. As I seem to have some trouble in visually identifying those colors when present as light shades, I’d like to be able to modify them in order to work better for me. Thank you :-)
