   Finally I figured out what causes the custom workspace to reset. It’s the Indesign home screen. If you disable “Show Home Screen” in the settings, the workspace doesn’t reset. But even if you tap the “House” icon to bring up the home screen and then create a new document, the workspace resets to “Essentials” again.

   Have you managed to figure this out yet? I'm having the exact same problem in InDesign 2026 on Windows 10. In Illustrator, the links update automatically, but very slowly. In InDesign, they've simply stopped autoupdating edited by double click links. This didn't happen in earlier versions.
