As I encounter numerous glitches and bugs when using a second screen—most of which are “resolved” by switching between GPU and CPU preview mode—the addition of the mode in the tab is very handy.
For example, unplugging the external screen from my MacBook often results in an empty InDesign document. Changing the preview mode makes the pages visible again. I’ve encountered this bug on many different machines, OS versions, and InDesign versions.
Of course, Adobe should fix these bugs in the first place, but for now, I’m just glad I can easily see which mode I’m in.

I second this. I use a 16:18 display (rotated 90°), which is great for having plenty of tool panels. But the described problem—everything jumping around and constantly having to reset my workspace because I adjusted the height of some panels (as they spontaneously changed their size)—is infuriating.

Still an issue. This is a problem I encounter in every job—almost every day.
I use so many different workarounds to align my text: adding an invisible character before the first letter to enable kerning, adjusting different indent settings, nudging the text box, or adding padding and positioning it with an offset. But there should be an easier solution:
1. Simply allow kerning for the first glyph.
2. Add a setting for optical alignment.
3. Introduce an option in paragraph styles for negative offsets—without requiring a positive offset first.Nikolas supported this idea ·

And while we are at it: make an option to lock the toolbar in place. I accidentally dragged the bar like thousands of times.

I posted this nearly three years ago, and I’m still having the same problem. Over the last three years, I must have accidentally dragged the InDesign toolbar thousands of times. I can’t imagine I’m the only one experiencing this issue.

I second this. Working in apps like Glyphs 3, you learn to appreciate contextual undos.
