An error occurred while saving the comment Amanda commentedStill happening regularly as of Feb 2023 for me. I've also heard that closing ID while it's maximized can cause this, but I can't confirm and can confirm it happens when that hasn't been done. It opens in a manner where i can't select/drag corners to resize it.
A workaround I've found so far (working on Windows) is to minimize the app (often to do this I have to Ctrl+D to minimize all windows and view my desktop), then hover over it in my taskbar and select it again. Sometimes this opens it, still small, but now with the option to drag it open. This might not work for everyone and doesn't always for me. It's not a solution, but a workaround, and my palette layouts are always messed up afterward.

Hi,
This looks more like a feature modification request.
I am therefore moving this to the “Feature Request” section. Please keep adding your use-cases.

Amanda supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Amanda commentedCan a "fix" for this feature be brought back up in the requests again? I see this is from way back in 2018 and still has not been resolved as of 2022. And holy cow is this giving me problems right now. I have grouped items I've copied and pasted onto a specific layer, and it's still moving everything onto a previous, locked layer where some of the objects in the group "originated" at some point if I have to ungroup them for anything. It really shouldn't let you paste into a locked layer without some sort of warning dialogue at minimum. The entire point of having a layer locked was so I could work on top of it without affecting it. I know this is technically a feature, but this part of it really makes it behave more like a bug. And it doesn't seem logical to let someone physically paste the object in one layer together intentionally and then undo that the moment they ungroup.

January 2024 and this issue is back for me. If I choose "Ignore All" during a spellcheck, InDesign freezes and crashes. This is happening on multiple documents, including brand new ones. Preference reset does not solve it.
