character size
Hello,
I have an issue with the size of some panel. For example, the "paragraph" one and the "character" one are oversized, they are too long and I can't reach the end or even redimensionized it. How can I fix that?1 vote -
Cant type lowercase letter 'b'
Lowercase 'b' cannot type in a text frame. I can press shift+b to do a capital b, but if I do type lowercase 'b' it reverts the entire paragraph back to Basic paragraph style. I looked through all the shortcuts and couldn't find anything.

InCopy Export Omits Index Markers
Hello,
I have run into trouble on the InCopy export from InDesign with regard to index markers and am wondering if anyone else has the same situation.
The export of InCopy files from InDesign omits index markers in specific scenarios due to the nature of XML.
Specifically, if the index marker of a subentry occurs earlier in the text than the main entry, any other subentries after the main entry will disappear when checking in or saving the InCopy file, even if no edits are made in the file.
The reason for this seems to be that all index markers in an InCopy file are combined into a sequential listing of index markers for the document. This listing is created as the computer goes through the text to save or check in the InCopy file. If a subentry comes first and then a main entry follows, further subentries don’t know where to insert themselves in the overall listing of index markers and they disappear.
As a workaround, a Suppressed Page Range index marker can be added before the first subentry as shown in the below example:
EXAMPLE:
We have the following subentries under bacteria:
bacteria, 2 bacterial memory reproduction, 3 experiment with smoke and steam, 1 never investigated why it got things sick, 5
We have a subentry on page 1, before the main entry on page 2. Because the main entry is on page 2, those subentries that are after the main entry will disappear and upon exporting the InCopy file, we get:
bacteria, 2 experiment with smoke and steam, 1
The subentries on page 3 and page 5 disappeared.
Temporary Resolution:
If a subentry is exists before a main entry, an additional “Suppress Page Range” index marker is created for the main entry.
Can this be corrected in the native ICML export from InDesign?

Indesign quitting and slow while shooting PDF's
InDesign 15.0.2 slow PDF creation, gets worse the more PDF's i shoot in a row, finally indesign quits.
It all started when indesign was working very slowly.
I fixed this issue by turning off GPU and Preflight.I have to regularly shoot Hi and Lo res PDF's, 50 at a time, 2 page brochures, 100 pages in the document, the first 3-5 pdf's shoot fine, then it starts to slow down, i spend 30 seconds on each pdf just watching the spinning progress wheel before it will even let me type in the page numbers, this gets worse and worse until Indesign quits.
I have recently paid to have a new 2TB SSD drive fitted and upgraded to Mojave 10.14.6, this has made no difference, i have also removed external backup drive, again made no difference.
One of your engineers actually told me that 30 second wait is perfectly norman!!!!!! Having used Indesign since it first came on the market i know this to be rubbish. I never had similar problems with CS6, CS6 created PDF's almost instantly. This is very frustrating and has slowed my workflow down to about 1/3.

Trackpad scroll issues with InDesign v15.0.2 on new MacBook Pro 16" 2.4 GHz 8 core processor 64GBmemory. .
InDesign v15.0.2 Trackpad is not scrolling well on new MacBook Pro 16" 2.4 GHz 8 core processor 64GBmemory. I just upgraded my equipment to top of line MacBook Pro. and bought the subscription to Adobe all apps. I have been using 2013 MacbookPro with CS6. My files are unresponsive in Indesign. I typically collage with 600+ photoshop images to make is single design on multiple pages. On my old system I was not running into problems except new OS was incompatible with CS6.
This is unacceptable. I called Adobe and they were not helpful.

Unable to drag nodes text frame
InDesign 15.0.2, running Catalina 10.15.4
I can easily add/remove nodes to a text frame but I have tremendous difficulty trying to move a node with the direct selection cursor. When I click and drag the node, the entire frame moves, indicating the node never got selected. A node seems to only manage to get selected about 10% of the time. I am not doing anything special for that to happen. It randomly works and 90% of the time it doesn't. Very frustrating.

Easy-Access On/Off Toggle Needed for "Use Typographer's Quotes"
I create and edit spec sheets that use lots of "typographer's quotes" and "non-typographer's quotes" AKA "inch marks." Having "use typographer's quotes" turned OFF allows me to type an "inch mark."
So I constantly have to open preferences to turn typographer's quotes OFF to create inch marks in my dimensions charts, then turn it back ON to use typographer's quotes in my paragraphs.
Adding a quick-access toggle for typographer's quotes, or even including a shortcut to type the opposite kind of quotation mark would be helpful and save time.

InDesign crashes sporadically while scaling/rotating objects
I've noticed numerous times that InDesign will crash while scaling/rotating objects. Can you please fix this bug?
1 voteTo identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

document fonts bug

InDesign should warn users when text size limit is reached
InDesign should warn users when text size limit is reached. This is especially important when resizing existing documents. If you have a huge billboard covered in lockups/text elements that you're resizing, you have no way of knowing whether the text limit is reached unless you notice it. A warning dialogue box would be nice.

Can't open Colour Book as it's own panel, therefore can't save to Workspace
Can't open colour books as it's own panel (unlike Illustrator which allows you to). This would be useful because it would potentially allow you to save a colour book in an InDesign workspace, saving a lot of time if you consistently work in a single colour book/space.

IDML
Found a bug (in all versions of InDesign) where an IDML does not have the correct CustomGlyph string:
- Create a text box and select the font "Zapfino".
- Using the Glyphs panel, choose the character for the word "Zapfino" (which is GID 1059). Export to IDML. The IDML will open fine.
- Select the character again and change the font to Times. The character will become "uhorngrave", which is GID 1059 in the Times font.
- Export to IDML. Open the IDML and it will display as an invalid character.
The bug is because an IDML does not contain the Glyph ID and instead relies on the CustomGlyph string, but the name in the IDML is "Zapfino" when instead the info in the IDML should be "uhorngrave" for the Times font.

numbered list doesn't count up - only counts 1, 1, 1
InDesign 15.0.2 , Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4
I've been provided text to put into document. Copy pasted in (stripping formatting), added Paragraph Formatting (basic paragraph), then selected text to make it a numbered list ... and it numbers every item as number 1.
I did my own list, and it worked fine (1, 2, 3).
I copied the text from within the document into the new correct list, it reverted all the numbers back to 1,1,1.
I retyped the text to keep the correct numbering - that fixed the issue for me.
I've attached a video showing what happens when I apply the formatting. This is simply setting up the numbered list via the type menu, but put into the paragraph style for quick access.

Style shortcuts keep disappearing
InDesign 13.1.1
I'm not sure what is going on but it's been happening for a while now. The only way I've been able to fix it has been to trash my preferences. Unfortunately even that doesn't last long, sometimes as short as a day.
I make a lot of paragraph and character shortcuts for my projects. Each has it's own set of fonts so although I use the same shortcuts each are attached to different fonts so when I jump into a project I need to be able to see the shortcuts in the panel to remember which to use. For the past few years they keep disappearing from my panel even through the are still attached to the style. I cant figure out what is causing this to happen and I'm getting tired of trashing prefs every day just to be able to see my own styles. I could switch over to a newer indesign version but that requires purchasing a new version/subscription of my font application which I don't think is necessary for this issue. At this time my Character style is working right and displaying the commands for the styles I have setup While paragraph has 13 shortcuts missing.
