1. Relink is broken

   Hi, I have an existing linked file (PDF) already contained within a document, for example PDF_a.pdf in the links panel. The original link generates the graphic and displays on the page.

   I want to update that link to now link to PDFb.pdf. I choose the relink button from the links panel, the file name updates in the links panel to display PDFb.pdf, however the graphic displayed on the page remains that of PDF_a.pdf.

   If I save the file, close InDesign and reopen it, the link remains PDFb.pdf, while the graphic shows PDFa.pdf on the page.

   If I export the file it similarly exports the wrong graphic displaying PDF_a.pdf as well.

   I recently just had my machine updated to the CC versions of InDesign from the CS2 version and I've started experiencing this problem.

3. BUG Make "Fit Frame to Content" finally work with rotated/skewd content

   1. Version: CS4 and above
   2. Steps: Just rotate/skew a picture within its box and use "FitFrameToContent" and watch the content gets cropped!

4. copy something with a shadow from one document moves the shadows randomly

   in the version 21.0 of Indesign when you copy something with a shadow from one document into another and moves it the shadows move to random positions. Workaround: You need to select them manually deactivate and activate them to get them back at the right position.

5. Reveal in Bridge not works

   In the image context menu, bridge preview does not work if the image name contains apostrophe characters.
   Bridge will not show a file with this name: abc '123' name.jpg
   and if there are no apostrophe characters it works (abc 123 name.jpg)

6. [ID-4263516] InDesign shows any graphic card in case machine has more than 1 graphic card

   Video card not recognized
   I have an RTX a1000 video card, and InDesign does not recognize it, even though it is supposed to support the new InDesign GPU according to the data

   Hi,

   Thank you for reporting the issue. InDesign currently has a limitation of showing only 1 GPU card in the InDesign Preferences. Internally we pick the necessary Graphic card for rendering. It is currently under investigation.

7. anchored width and height gets loose

   The anchor between the element width and height in the top menu switches to un-anchored directly after unselecting an element or at selecting another element.

8. V 20.0 Bugs

   Text box content disappearing. Only will reappear after box is moved or typed in. Some content may appear and some will not be visible until box is moved again. This happens often when typing or deleting text.
   Also, now I only have 2 undos. History only shows two items.
   Just updated to 20.0 and these issues occurred right after. Please fix!

   Does this happen after creating or opening documents or both?

   What are the steps you have performed which are not there in History?

9. [ID-4273320]"Failed to place PDF" with a PDF file created in Canva

   Trying to import a client supplied PDF, created in the paid version of Canva and saved as a CMYK print quality PDF (not flattened). Will not place into InDesign. I've tried various and no import options and it does not work. I have placed this PDF into Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Publisher 2 without issue.

10. Library thumbnail not showing

    When modifying or creating an object in library, the existing or new thumbnail is not showing. Instead, it is showing only the CC icon.

    I am using 19.5 x64 on Windows 10 Enterprise OS.

11. Library assets missing in InDesign 2024 v19.3 but visible in Creative Cloud

    Many assets that i've made and added into my libraries that we use for production are now missing for me in InDesign, v19.3, although they are still present in the Creative Cloud app, and my coworker using the same library but on InDesign v19.1 does not have this issue so far.

    Both of us are on the latest version of MacOs, v14.4.

12. InDesign 19: 'Search for missing links in this folder' not working

    InDesign is not finding other missing links in a folder after reorganisation. All links have to be linked individually – which is much slower than version 18.

    This happened to me after all links were reorganised after packaging, that is, they were moved from the Links folder into other folders.

    When I reverted to using the Links folder, all links were marked as Modified. 'Update all links' command did not work. Links had to be selected in the panel and updated by using the Update links button.

13. Display error shows outdated editing status of text and text frames

    1. Version of InDesign:
       18.0 / 18.5 with macOS Monterey / Ventura

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues:
       Not possible, error occurs unpredictable. It seems that the error occurs when using documents with many text frames that are linked across several pages. CPU or GPU does not make a difference.

    3. Expected result:
       Display of the same editing status when toggling between guideline view and preview

    4. Actual result (when error occurs):
       One of the two view variants shows outdated editing status of text and text frames, sometimes guideline view, sometimes preview.

14. Black Backgrounds When Copying PNG from Web to Indesign (Return of Bug)

    This is a recurring bug that was solved in a few past updates, but, it's back in InDesign V. 18.5.

    When you copy a transparent background PNG from Google Images (or any website) and paste it into InDesign, it will display a black box as the background.

    If you paste the same image into Photoshop, copy that, paste it into InDesign, it will not show the black background.

    This was working 100% flawlessly over the last year, but, is now broken in this new version on multiple Macs. Tried different browsers. Reset preferences, same issue.

    This was a bug that has come up multiple times over the years, and seemingly was solved for quite awhile, until now upon its return.

15. Datamerge QR-code cannot be colored

    When performing a datamerge, the generated QR-codes are black (C0 M0 Y0 K100) and cannot be set to another color prior to merging. This video shows the issue (and complex workaround).

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. set up a datamerge with a qr-code field in data source.
    2. try to color the QR-code any color not black (eg. using Object > Edit QR-Code > Color)
    3. execute datamerge

    Actual result:
    All QR-codes are black.

    Expected result:
    To set the color of the QR-code placeholder the same as a normal QR-code, and for the QR-codes to be colored after the merging.

16. Screen Draws Bizarre Patterns

    This has been happening for the past several versions. Im using ID 2023 on a 27" 2019 31. Mhz iMac with 64GB. It runs a Raedon Pro 575X 4GB.

    While I am moving the document, sometimes these bizarre dark patterns form. Sometimes it happens when just an item is moved on the document. But it appears to be random. Scrolling off the page and back onto it seems to solve it.

    This only happens in InDesign. None of the other Adobe apps or other graphic apps have this issue. So it leads me to believe it is not the video card, but one specific program.

    I also own an M1 Mac Mini which runs the exact same software...but has no such issues. I keep hoping an update will fix this but it remains for the past two years...

17. Links not accessible

    Since the 18.2.1 update, new links show up grayed out and inaccessible for placing or updating or anything when they are usable files.

18. problem of distorted previews even though their link is correct

    I am on indesign 18.1. Mac OS ventura 13.1.
    I have a problem displaying the images once I re-open my document. They appear stretched and refuse to export the pdf. The image links are correct and I have not moved the images from their original location. I have to manually update the links each time for the pdf to work. Can you help me?

20. Make GIFs great again

    • Allow a preview of a live GIF while designing - currently when it is placed into a deck it is static and only reviewable by publishing online.

    • Allow a choice of the GIF thumbnail that becomes the still image when an offline version is downloaded. Currently I'm at the mercy of whatever the very first frame is in the entire GIF sequence.

    • Better yet, make Adobe Reader able to play gifs so the 'offline' version doesn't have to be a compromise of the original intention.
