1. InDesign 2022 PDF Export Failure with macOS Monterey

   Since updating to macOS Monterey v. 12.3.1, InDesign (V 17.2) will frequently fail to export a PDF to a data server. I will attempt to export, and it will fail, but when I export to the downloads folder, it works just fine. That issue also extends to when I create an imposed job using the plug-in HP SmartStream. The temporary file will load on the server, but once SmartStream completes, it will disappear. Exporting to the downloads folder works for that too. There's no rhyme or reason as to when it happens, and I never had this issue before updating to Monterey (I was on Catalina for a long time).

2. Alt text missing on hyperlinks after "Export as Interactive PDF"

   I work primarily in InDesign and create accessible PDFs. During the design stage, I always add the alt text when creating hyperlinks or adding images, and export it as an interactive PDF.

   As we know, after updating beyond InDesign version 16.1, the hyperlink alt text will not appear on the Link tag, but instead, it appears on the "Link - OBJR" (aka "Annotation") tag within the Link tag.

   I work on long reports that usually have hundreds of hyperlinks and this is a big and very time-consuming problem for me, so I reverted back to v 16.1.

   I've been ignoring the past several updates for InDesign, but my CC updated it to v 17 and v 16.1 is no longer available.

   Is there an acceptable solution or workaround?

   Can this be fixed in a future InDesign version???

   The world is becoming more accessible and this bug is quite a big problem for designers like myself.

3. Alt text of vector graphics not showing in Acrobat

   Alt text of vector graphics not showing in Acrobat (mouse over)

   When exporting documents with placed .ai or .eps the alt text on mouse over isn't showing in Acrobat.
   The alt text does show up when inspecting Tags, though.

4. Print/Export booklet to directly PDF on MAC

   I'd like save my document as a PDF booklet on my Mac. I've gone to file > print booklet and I only have to ability to print it as a postscript fiel or directly to my physical printer. I'd like to be able to print/export a booklet directly to PDF.

5. export to PDF from latest InDesign 2020 results in pixelated PNG or JPG images

   Upgrading from 15.0 to 15.1 versions of InDesign CC breaks PDF exporting of PNG or JPG images. Images now appear pixelated and low res no matter how high the original resolution of the image is, even when exported at 300 dpi (Print Quality settings). PNG and JPG images are flat with no transparency.

6. Indesign link

   ndesign links all look fine in links folder. None missing. Next day when I open the file I get this message when exporting to PDF. Have to relink when already linked. Or if that doesnt work. Resave photoshop file and then appears perfect in indesign

7. export folder

   Just installed InDesign CC 2020 and I cannot export to the recent folders. The same folder appears no matter which recent place I choose. I don't even remember saving anything to the folder that shows up.

   See what is happening here. Any help would be great so I don't have to navigate through a million folders to save and export my work.

9. Accessibility and data merge

   Windows 10, ID 14.0.2 (2019), Acrobat Pro DC 2019.012.20036.
   Using Data Merge to create many pages of text from a large Excel file. Each row produces two pages. I have set up all the tags, reading order, bookmarks etc for the file but they are not reproduced for subsequent pages. When testing in Acrobat, the screen reader only reads the first two pages. There are no tags or bookmarks for subsequent pages. Can this be resolved?

10. 23.0.3 Adobe PDF Preset / Transparency Flattener Preset "Convert Text To Outlines" Not Working

    In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.

    I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".

    How is this issue considered “expected behavior” when:

    1) Setting Adobe PDF presets and Transparency Flattener presets to "convert text to outlines" is a feature of the software
    2) It has worked flawlessly in ALL previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign

    This is a pretty common practice that designers use when creating print documents. Most printers require all text to be outlines when receiving project files. It is very time consuming to manually change all text to outlines when you're working with a 100+ page project file. This feature, which I and countless others use on a daily basis, prevents the error of accidentally saving over a working file as well as saving time when preparing documents for print.

    If this feature (which is still showing as a feature in the current version) has been removed, I deeply implore you to bring this feature back.

11. Selecting 'No language' from styles advanced options really exports the tag to EN in PDF

    When you have a document with multiple languages and the main language isn't available in InDesign's presets, ie the document is mainly in Kirundi or Samoan and there are some English phrases, a user should be able to select 'No language' from the style's advanced options. Instead, 'No language' will export as EN and the tag in the PDF will have EN listed as the language in the tag's properties. This is problematic because the tag's language will override the document's language properties. This is a clear failure of WCAG SC 3.1.2 (language of parts).

    A screen reader won't be able to read the document because the English language tag properties will override everything.

    Fixing this will ensure PDFs can be accessible to people who use screen readers in languages other than InDesign's presets.

12. PDF Export causes Acrobat to crash

    I am having trouble exporting InDesign files to PDF.

    This is what I'm seeing:
    Exporting PDFs from InDesign works fine if no PDF is open. If you have a PDF already open or are exporting a 2nd PDF with the first still open it crashes Adobe.

    I have updated Windows to a later version, checked drivers, the event viewer logs. I looked for similar issues online, repaired Acrobat from Control panel and from within the app.

    Please share any advice.

13. InDesign CC2019 - faux bold text issue when exporting pdf.

    Only the pages with text+jpg are exported properly.
    The pages with any other image type with some transparency, i.e. psd, ai, even png, have bold text after exporting to pdf.

    It's an old issue, coming back every now and then in many InDesign editions in the past. So we all should know how to deal with it, shouldn't we? Well, here is the rub. The trick with the text placed on a separate layer on the top doesn't work anymore. Nothing works, actually. It's a major bug. A reason to downgrade to the last correct version. I needed to export a very important work today and I have spent most of my day trying to work this out. I have downgraded to CS6 eventually, just to be sure that it would work. And it did, but hey! This is not the solution.

    Another workaround that I know of is to print your publication to pdf instead of exporting. But still. It is a huge bug and we need you to deal with it real fast.

14. InDesign 2019 Begins failing to export PDFs after short period of operating

    InDesign 2019 | Mac OS Mojave

    After a short period of time InDesign Fails anytime I try to export a PDF. I get the Error notification and just a Failed to export message. Restarting InDesign does not fix this, however if I restart my entire machine (enormous, frustrating pain in my workflow) it resume saving PDFs for a short period of time and them begin failing again until the next restart.

    No other Software is having this issue, Adobe or otherwise.

15. data merge to PDF: page numbers (generated with current page number marker) don't increase

    To recreate this bug:
    1) Make a new print document 8 pages long (doesn't matter if pages are facing or not) A4 or letter size (this doesn't matter either)
    2) Go to the master page and somewhere on the master page, add a new text frame and within that frame, add an auto page number.
    3) In a text editor, create the following file for test purposes and save it with the name "test.txt" - (cut and paste the next five lines of text):
    name
    Colin
    David
    Jose
    Max
    4) Return to InDesign, go to the data merge palette and select data source (the text file that was just made). Place a text placeholder on any page (this doesn't matter where)
    5) From the data merge palette, go to Export to PDF, all records, and to the desktop is fine. Any PDF setting will work, use [High Quality Print] for this demo.
    6) view the PDF that is generated.

    WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN:
    A 32pp file should be created with page numbers going from 1-8, then 1-8 again three more times.
    WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS:
    A 32pp file is created, but page numbers either stay on 1 (if facing pages was off) or go 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1..... (if facing pages was on)

    To recreate this bug:

16. Indesign will not tag endnotes to XML

    When Adding untagged items to the Structure, Indesign promptly states that Endnotes are not supported for XML tagging. I use XML tagging process for creating reliable Accessible WCAG compliant PDFs, and other export requirements. Please make Endnotes USEFUL - 1. keep in same story (not an additional frame) and make tagging process available.
    OR... a way to convert endnotes to linked cross references - even in tables!
    Tables if Indesign worst thought when it comes to footnotes and endnotes.

17. hyperlink

    Interactive PDF not exporting hyperlinks correctly

    Everytime I export an interactive PDF with hyperlinks, the links have %0D automatically at the end. The hard return code is not in the link in InDesign, I've tried to remove it several times within the working document and Acrobat with no luck. Seems to be a bug.

    InDesign cuts off effects on PDF Exports if they get too large. (Also to mention... menues look different fot Font or Object Effects... someone realigned one of them and forgot the others.)

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: CC 2017.1 with Tablefix
    Steps to reproduce the issues: Create a new Document that's wide enough e.g. 5000mm (happend to us on a big Banner) – Write Text - Use Effect "Bevel" - Export to PDF and watch it fail.
    Expected result: A Text with the applied effect
    Actual result: The Effect gets cut off (we almost printed a job like this...)
    Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional): see Attachments

Our small monthly payment is used to include more important functions like Stock-Photos. Export PDF, correct some minor errors and check it with PAC. You´ll get many Content errors, because artifacts are not properly tagged. Try to solve it in Acrobat with the tags/order/...-panel. Spend more hours with vanishing objects and many other amusing bugs. Find the Preflight-Tool to tag all objects at once.
    3. Correct tagging while generating the PDF.
    4. Lost my mind ... Please overhaul the UA-PDF workflow – or at least – fix all the bugs in InDesign and Acrobat.

20. indesign export

    I export a pdf and then decide I want to make a tweak. So I tweak the indesign file, re-export my pdf, and then the pdf doesn't update the preview! I have to re-export TWICE in order for the pdf to be updated. Anybody else having this problem?
