Still have this problem with 16.4 ! (Mac Mini M1 - Big Sur). Really annoying !

I am having this exact same problem, on my new Mac it's really annoying having to zoom in and out all the time to make sure the text is still there!!

I have this issue on a new iMac 24" but not on an older Mac. I don't understand how software developers can make things worse. It's just ridiculous that you release an update without making sure this works. Surely editing text is one of the primary functions of InDesign?

I have also been having this problem with the latest version of InDesign 16.4. The text disappears while being edited and only reappears after zooming in / out. Changing quality of display seems to have no effect. September 23, 2021.

Also having this problem (Sept 23, 2021). I have yet to have an update fix this issue. InDesign 16.4, which CC says is up to date.

Seriously Adobe, when are you going to fix this? Why do you hate the M1 Mac so much? This is in a long list of buggy issues across the whole suite....

Yep, the bug exists as of September 22. Have to tab off, then back again, on and on...

Unfortunately this bug is still present in the latest prerelease: InDesign 2022 v 17.0.

Well, I have the latest version of InDesign from the Cloud and, is happening to me. It never happened before

So far there have bee 2 updates since I posted, and I thought all was fixed, but alas, my text is still disappearing. I have managed a couple files without issue, but today it happened again. I can't work like this as I have to backwards save all the files I have already done to work on my old machine (2015 MBP with IDCS5). It is disappointing

Still having the same bug! never happened when i was using my early 2013 mc book pro, but happens lmost constantly with my m1 macbook air.

M1 MacBook Air / Big Sur 11.4 / Everything in text box disappears when editing text in document created by somebody else in same InDesign version (16.4) but Windows edition.

Maybe this will help someone, or not, but I too, on Mojave (10.14.6) had had that nuisance of disappearing type for quite awhile. In my case though I may have discovered a fix. InDesign preferences > type Un-checking "Font Preview Size" seems to eliminate the disappearing type issue, for me anyway. Setting that preference with no document open seems to fix it for all future new documents, but any previous file, when opened, the font preview size will be checked... and needs to be de-checked. (It seems like this preference sticks with the existing document no matter how defaults are set). So, turning that off on a one by one basis in existing documents seems to fix the problem. It has for me anyway....!

Still having this problem as well. Countless times a day. A quick fix I've found is pressing "W" to switch to presentation mode and then back. This is an extremely annoying problem that must be fixed!!
