Red stripes in InDesign document
Why do I get red stripes in the indesign document when I have more than two files open?
We're happy to announce that the fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign - version 17.2 that is available from Creative Cloud Desktop application.
Please update to this latest InDesign version to get the fix.

Issue started with upgrade to InDesign 16.2.1 that when I open file, content appears blank or covered with red or black blocks or lines. I have to repeatedly resize the window in order to work on the page. I also noticed issues when editing text. It only allows me to edit text that is one or two lines above where the cursor appears—very frustrating!

Often when I'm working in the Indesign (16.2.1) document layout, color is suddenly stretched across my screen (see attached image). I cannot recreate it myself and don't know when it will happen next. Sometimes if I zoom in and out it will go away but usually I have to scroll away to a different page and then go back to find it gone. I'm using MacOS Big Sur 11.4.

I've had the same problem with the "red bar" across the top of my screen.
I'm latte to the party with this issue.
It seems to only happen when I have 2 or more files open and I switch between files.
Resizing the screen works to clear the issue, (but is an obvious hassle).
I have turned off GPU Performance and that has stopped the problem so far.
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) running Big Sur V11.4
I'm not willing to try prerelease at this stage as I have a number of time critical projects on. (no need for grumpy clients). -

Hi Ravi,
I followed your instructions and am now working on the InDesign Pre release version. There are still problems. As soon as I open more than one file I now get odd shaped grey boxes appearing. I no longer get the red and blue bars but there is obviously still a problem. Please fix it soon as I have 2 jobs that need to go to the printer in the next couple of days and this is slowing me down big time :(
Thank you!!! -

I've also been having this problem for the last few weeks. I thought my graphics card was on the way out. I'm relieved to discover it's an Adobe issue and not a hardware issue.
Like others I have been switching to 'Preview on CPU' in InDesign to get rid of the problem when it occurs.
Since this is a known issue which has been occurring for a while, why don't you (Adobe) please provide an update to InDesign NOW. We are paying good money for software which just isn't working properly. This is not good enough Adobe!

I agree, an update is needed. I have been having this issue off and on for weeks, and the only thing that helps is quitting InDesign and restarting it. I am unable to select anything after the red bars come up.

Not everyone can join prerelease programs for fixes like this due to company restrictions and confidentiality, so can you please just fix that one issue and release an interim update? REALLY frustrating trying to design with a large red frame screaming at me...

Yes you fixed this, but the latest update today (June 16th), has regressed back a step...
Please re-fix this annoying issue... Thanks -

Just tried out the InDesign prerelease build 16.3.0.24 and it has so far corrected the issue with red bars and misaligned cursor issue.

Red Borders appearing around edge of indesign Pasteboard. Can't then highlight text or do anything until you adjust the size of the window. This happens across all my Macs on the same Indesign version.
