InDesign 16.0 saves Converted files in last used folder, not containing folder
On Catalina OSX (10.15.7), InDesign 2021 (16.0) saves a Converted file to the last used Finder folder, rather than the folder the document is contained in.
Happens with 'Save As...', as well as saving InCopy assignments.
The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.0.1.
Please update to this version to get the fix.

Is it really fixed this time?
Anyone try it yet?
I had to go back to a previous version last time it was determined that it was fixed. I don't want to have to do that again... -

Since Adobe seems to be dragging their feet on this one, here's a SUPER HELPFUL script to use in the meantime. You can also assign this script to a shortcut if you choose.

Please make this simple, logical fix for such a recurring time-consuming problem. 'Save As > Original folder' as the default setting. Like we can for re-linking under Edit > Preferences > File Handling > Links > Default Relink Folder .

Another 14 days are gone and NO Update is available. I don't know why Adobe is not able to provide a hotfix as so many other companies do so in comparable situations. Why is Adobe collecting many bugs instead of providing a hotfix to fix this awful behavior? We are programming Apps and for sure only a few codelines would be necessary to fix it. So why do we have to wait for weeks? So PLEASE fix it NOW!

I have over 150 customers and probably more than a million folder s and files. Would be helpfull if this bug is fixed «very shortly» and we do not have to wait for a christmas present.Guido Köhler from Switzerland

I'm having this same issue on Mojave 10.14.6
I drove myself crazy and spent 30 mins trying to find a file that was saved in the wrong spot.
How do I get the beta build fix? -

I'll just add that this should always be default behavior in Adobe apps, although a preference switch would be great for those used to the Office way of handling files.
I'm nearly always working on multiple projects at the same time, so having InDesign (etc) remember where I opened a project and saving all its files to that same folder is a great time-saver. Saves us all having to hunt down files we accidentally saved to a different location!

Hello, please kindly provide a link to download and fix the bug? When I open CC, InDesign is showing I am updated to the latest version 16.0, however, the bug (of saving to the last opened folder instead of the current folder) still continues. -Thank you.

The bug was reported in July, now it's November. Why are you still ignoring it. Will you financially compensate for our lost time?

When I went to save the file, it took me into a folder I haven't saved anything into for 2 years. Even worse, I COULD NOT direct it to the folder where the 2020 file resided that I had just opened in 2021. I had to save it into the wrong folder, then drill down to where InDesign insisted on saving it and drag from there into the folder where the file was before I opened it. Is this an improvement? I think I need to uninstall the new version and reinstall 2020. I've worked in 2021 for all of one hour and it's pure frustration. All I needed to do was change two words, and the multiple glitches I encountered make that take an hour.

Indesign does not save files created in the previous version to the location from which it was opened, but to the last folder used. It's pointless and uncomfortable.
Older versions of files do not even remember their name.
