CEPHtmlEngine Helper
macOS Catalina 10.15.5. and InDesign. 15.1.1.
Massive problem with CEPHtmlEngine Helper. After a while, my MacBook Pro fan is running high and in the activity window, CEPHtmlEngine Helper is running between 90 and 100%. It is no fun to work with a system that runs crazy.
Why? Solution needed.
This issue is being reviewed again.

Just had this problem with 4 instances of CEPHtmlEngine Helper from Indesign 19.3 maxing out all 4 processors in an iMac, even though Indesign wasn't running.

this issue hasn't been fixed. Updated indesign 2023 and it's crippled my machine.

having this problem now with
– Indesign 17.4 (CC2022, latest updates)
– on macOS 12.5.1 (Monterrey)
– imac 2019, i9, 48GB memoryI open some Indesign documents, wait a little while doing nothing, and our best friend CEPHtmlEngine runs hot at 100% ...
so tiresome, especially as this seems to be connected to cloud stuff which we don't use anyway as it's not applicable to our working style.

The same for me. I pay for this ******* software! The cracked InDesign is better than the original one...

Hello, same problem here. I can't even open a blank document. Both Illustrator and InDesign are completely useless. What if graphic design was my main source of income? I would be without a job.
I'm on a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro Retina with 8GB of RAM and I was using both apps without trouble until now.
macOS Catalina 10.15.7
I'm using both Illustrator and InDesign in their latest releases.
I hope Adobe will address this issue very, very soon.
Thanks, Yannick

I'm using the last InDesign 17.0.1 on the last Big Sur. This bug is worse than ever and nothing seems to have been made to solve it. On the contrary, I've never seen so many useless CEPHtmlEngine processes opened at the same time without doing nothing more than using memory. Please see the picture attached. This is getting worse and worse. Please solve this once for all. This is getting really obscene and insulting for us.

Adobe is showing this as a fix for this issue:
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/high_cpu_usage_cephtmlengine.html
However the CEP folder that's part of the fix doesn't exist. It's extremely frustrating. Please help. -

I hate companies that ignore their users. This has been an issue for more than five years. Is it incompetence, the inability to fix the issue, or like another paying customer said below - do you not care?

Could this be a chrome issue?
A few months ago I completely removed chrome from my MacBook (using a specific tutorial) and after the next restart the fans of my mac chilled significantly. Could it be that it’s because cep panels are using the same engine as chrome? https://www.google.nl/amp/s/appleinsider.com/articles/20/12/14/chrome-may-be-slowing-down-your-mac---heres-how-to-delete-chrome-entirely/amp/ -

Another voice to the complaints...CEPHtmlEngine is monopolising my CPU on a top spec MacBook Pro 15 inch 2019. CPU up at nearly 100%, fans blasting, battery life compromised... Killing the task and CEPHtmlEngine itself immediately sorts the problem out, but it shouldn't be happening. I have 'always updated' in CC's settings, so it's bang up to date - build 15.1.2. Very annoying as I use ID as my main app for work. Sigh.

Same problem here. Using InDesign CC 2020. Also had this issue years ago, it's definitely not a machine thing.

still having an issue with this. there are three version of this running and one version of the helper. after awhile, it eats the CPU. it's out of control. restart app, restart computer, etc., no help.
