[ID-4213629]Indesign performance issue : Slow work of Indesign when editing text with large footnotes
I'd like to report a bug. Please follow the scenario below:
In a single column with lots of text in it, make two columns for a fragment of text
In text within the two-column setup, make a footnote. Add several lines of text to the footnote
Turn on the "Span Footnotes Across Columns" feature so that footnote ends up in the same group with the footnotes at the bottom of the page rather than below the two-column fragment
Expected behaviour: normal editing can be performed after these manipulations
Observed behaviour: any text editing after turning on the "Span Footnotes Across Columns" feature becomes lethargic and near impossible. Turning this option off immediately solves the speed issues.
Please log a bug to fix this behaviour.
We’re reviewing this issue.

Using "span footnotes across columns" won't work properly even it crash the indesign cc. So find alternate solutions for this.
1. Don't use this from document footnotes options.
2. Use master page text frame, there use ctr+b (cmd+b), to go text frame options and use last tab footnotes. Here use "enable overides" and "span footnotes span columns".
3. In my case a large document of 120 pages work perfectly. -

I'm working in a book file that was typeset 3 weeks ago, and now I'm making the corrections. In every document I open, I begin to make changes to some paragraphs or footnotes and the text reflow skips that text box and creates a new page at the end of the document. If I make another change in the same paragraph, it reflows into the blank text box. It happens randomly on different paragraphs, not all of them.

When working in an Indesign document with 200 footnotes, the lag time between clicking on the footnotes and into the text is really long. This seems to be a new problem with the new release. Is there a fix for this?

I've been having this same problem. Sometimes, I get rules above the footnote block even when it's not split. To fix it, I have to open the Footnote Options dialog box and change the setting for footnote rules and then immediately change it back. It's like the program forgets to re-examine the page and run some of it's routines.
A similar issues (and I only mention it because they seem to be related) is that I will sometimes have words hyphenate across pages (when a footnote falls at the end of the page) even when the setting to allow that is turned off. If I put a hard return in the paragraph and then take it back out, InDesign correctly relows the paragraph to eliminate the hyphenation. These "redraw" problems are a maddening waste of time.

Although "rule on" is checked in continued footnotes, sometime the line appears above the footnotes when there is no need and sometimes it doesn't appear at all.
Please fix it.
Thanks!
