In InDesign CC 2019 slow Reaction Time on clicking from one object to another.
Using InDesign CC 14.0 on Windows 10. I have an magazine layout with text and picture boxes, of course. When clicking from one box to another, there is a long delay, a temporary freeze. Eventually (20-30 seconds) it awakens and I can move on. But it's happening more frequently, even after a reboot.
Is this an issue of my computer talking to Adobe servers?
Nothing to screen shot, there is no message.
Hello All,
Following up on the comments stating that the issue is yet not fixed, we did our investigation and found that, the issues being called out in the comment section, though maybe relevant but are different than the one for which this thread was originally created.
This particular thread caters to a very specific case which has been fixed in the last update of InDesign.
If you continue to face performance related issues with InDesign, we sincerely request you to create a separate thread so that we can categorize the performance related issues and address them completely.
In addition to track the performance issues effectively, it will also enable us to reach out to you in a organised manner when we investigate into each category of performance issues.
We are extremely sorry for the troubles you are facing with InDesign and we are determined to resolve them as efficiently as possible; we need your support.

Just wonder if this fix is for window users only or for MAC users as well?

UPDATE:
Saw a recommendation posted to disable the following in preferences > type
-Enable in-menu font previews
-Enable Japanese Font Preview in 'Find More'
-Sort Recent Fonts List Alphabetically
-Preview Font on HoverUnchecked all those (I had previously unchecked Preview Font on Hover and Japanese already unchecked), restarted and Indesign seems to be working like it's old self.
So something seemingly wrong with "font preview" preferences.

This update seemingly did not help with my lag. Still a 1/4 to 1/2 delay whenever I use the type tool to select a text box to initiate the cursor.

Same here! So frustrating! I try to click in a type box to edit and it just stalls. PC Windows 10

Same here. When switching between windows the very annoying beachball slows things down. Reinstalling Indesign without old prefs didn't solve it. Terrible update.
I'm on an Imac - High Sierra. -

The OP is on a Windows machine. I'm on a Mac and get the same thing, and my server is on my network, not Adobe's.

This is extremely frustrating Adobe! Get your shit together or roll back, fix it pronto or something. I open a document, even one created in Indesign 2019 and click in the text and it can be a 3-4 minute wait while it does whatever it is doing and I am able to edit the document. This is causing huge productivity problems and lost time. When will this issue be fixed! PLEASE

I'm also experiencing a slow down, mainly when you select a text box for the first time and working with fonts.
This also may be relevant to slowdowns experienced. There has been what I consider a 'Bug' in Indesign for the last few years with shared hyperlinks.
I do a many publications that have hyperlinks, one monthly publication has over 200 as it has a catalog near the end of the mag. I have to make these hyperlinks not shared. If I keep them shared, every time I would move an object or select something, Indesign would stall for 5-10 seconds or more while it starts re-checking links. I could see a temp file being created, deleted rapidly in the folder of the 'parent' document (and if you're using Onedrive, that temp file would also be syncing and re-syncing). Very annoying.
You can usually quickly see if you have shared hyperlinks by clearing your 'Recent history', then open your publication, change a minor thing, save then close. Now you may see that not only your doc is in the recent history, but also a few others that were 'opened' as they share hyperlinks.
It's a pain that whenever you add a hyperlink, it's 'Shared' by default and I can't see any way of turning that off by default.
If you have lot's of shared hyperlinks in your doc and you don't want to edit them all to 'not-shared', and you know where the parent doc is, rename or move the parent doc, then Indesign wont be able to check shared hyperlinks and won't slow down.

So, what is going on, why this is still in "Under review" - I am still waiting, and using CC2018. ?

I am using Mac OS 13 on a superfast iMac with 40 Gb of memory and the CC 2019 beachball drives me nuts!

This is awful. I can't even USE InDesign due to the spinning beach ball. I have cleared my cache and preference files so many time I'm going blind. I have even reinstalled my MAC OS from scratch and ALL of my CC apps. to no avail. I've followed all of the steps in every forum post I've come across. I called Adobe support and left a message after being on hold for an hour and no one called me back. I have tweeted to both @Adobe InDesign and @Adobe Creative Cloud with No response. THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I'm experiencing these lags too, especially when clicking on text boxes and the font menus. Font menus are also incredibly slow and jump back to the top of the list frequently when scrolling through.

I've had to uninstall v14 and am re-installing 13.1 as there's way too many bugs and it just keeps freezing...especially when using the text tool. It's very frustrating when I have a newspaper to get to the printers!!!!

Seems that the problem is in the control bar (ctrl+alt+6 in windows). When switching between tools the control bar delays the properties os the tool selected. If you hide the control bar on the top the lag goes away.

Yes, there is a little more beach ball than before.

i have this problem as well. i thought it might due to the high quality setting but indesign just drags. it'll get better for awhile and then the beachball will keep coming back.

I keep getting the spinning beach ball too!!!! Very frustrating. I have paid work to do.
I rebooted multiple times, relaunched, etc. Still i just get the never ending spinning beach ball in InDesign 2019. Makes me just want to quit & actually go to the beach but I can't afford it! Please fix this bug adobe.
I guess in the meantime I will have to reinstall the older version of indesign (2018)
