Printing Error: Problem initializing the current printer - Check the system print setting?
Printing Error: Problem initializing the current printer - Check the system print setting?
I have not changed anything in my settings for this error to occur? The previous version works and I have cross-referenced all my settings and they match but it will not allow the print booklet export to the Adobe PDF drive which has always worked?

Sometimes, InDesign might crash while accessing the printer setup or while printing documents with some specific printers. The crash is intermittent and specific to Windows only.
Currently, this issue is observed with the following printers when their drivers are not updated:
• Konica Minolta
• Canon ColorPass
• LANIER
If the printer you are using is not listed here or if updating the drivers of the listed printers does not resolve the issue, please share the following information at sharewithID@adobe.com to help us investigate the issue further:
• Printer driver and printer setup details.
• The configuration of your printer – local, network, or wireless.
• Is the printer configured as your default printer?

Just so everyone knows, this bug dates back to at least 2009 and Adobe has been aware since then, so don't hold your breath for a fix any time soon! https://forums.adobe.com/thread/533437

I followed the below steps and the issue is resolved.
1. On windows find add printers and scanners setup on the botton uncheck that Windows manage default printer and make any printer to default but not Adobe PDFIndesign
1. Go to File-> click Print Presets2. click Define -> click Edit
3. Change Printer: If it was Postscript files or PDF change to -> Default Printer(or actual printer that you have changed). make shure is the one that you have changed on Windows config
4. Click OK button Click OK button again.
5. when printing make shure it starts with your Windows default printer
6. Change windows default Printer: to Adobe PDF and print...
hope it Works for you as it worked for me.

I have the same problem when printing a booklet. Yes, it works to change to printer to Microsoft print to PDF, and then change it back to Adobe PDF again. Hope to get a fix soon.

Is anyone from Adobe going to address this matter? How can it be fixed?

I am in the same peril, I have tried restore points, restarts, cleaning tools to try to correct a probable corrupted file, but nothing works. Last solution was to use MS pdf printer, or install a third party program with that feature, like pdfill free tools to have a pdf printer available, and it worked. Quality of the pdf file seems to be good, no problems there. Until there is a solution for Adobe pdf printer, this was my work around. hope it helps.

I am having the same issue. It's started after Windows 10 Updates - update for Windows 10 Version 1709 and few others.

I am having the same issue lately. I have been printing pdf's for years this way in In Design and all of the sudden I get this error. I tried updating but that didn't help. I just export the file to get the same result.
