Indesign crashing on startup 2017 / 2018 (cloud) - Please Help!!
InDesign crashes the computer on startup. Not just the program, but restarts the PC. Sometimes it crashes with blue screen sometimes with plain and simple restart without any messages. Program does not even open.
I'm running Intel I7 8720X, Nvidia 1080 TI, 11 GB, 32 GB ram DDR4, 512 SSD + 3 TB Storage, Windows 10 Home - all updates.
I'm not sure what is going on. I tried to reinstall it, several times, after I uninstall removing preferences / settings, formatted the drives to kill any existing settings, still same issues. Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat work fine, not indesign.
I have no issues with any other software on this PC, runs really well.
To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

The random crashes( either the entire operating system or the program ) not always depend upon the program, rather it is also dependent on the registry or the program files, sometimes the corruption of either the registry or the program files can lead to major issues, I was experiencing a similar issue, however, with the help of https://errorcode0x.com/refresh-reset-restore-windows-to-factory-settings/ I was able to resolve major issues.

Hi,
Myself Sanyam Talwar from InDesign Engineering team, I am currently investigating the current issue.During our analysis of issue mentioned in the thread, we found that you had reported a crash with an older release of InDesign.
We have released InDesign CC2019.0.1 with lot of stability fixes. If you are not on 14.0.1.209 then I would recommend you to upgrade to latest version as it is more robust.
If you still face an issue with the latest release, please submit the crash report. Guidelines to submit crash are available at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html
Also, Please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com.

Hi Guys,
Try this as copied from another adobe thread:Restart the System and at the Dell Alienhead Logo, Press F2 (Multi-page BIOS)
Under the Advanced TAB, You will Find the Option CPU Configuration-Hyper- Threading technology-Change it to Disable
Under the Advanced TAB, You will Find the Option Intel (R) Speed step Technology-Change it to Disable
If you wish to turn on the Overclocking again, change the above options back to enable in the BIOS
Once the computer restarted, I could open and run InDesign CC 2018 normally. There is obviously something in the code that prevents the program from running in hyper-threaded environment.Tested and agreed. Once it is installed and you have successfully launched it, you can go back to your BIOS and turn hyper-threading back on. Its a one time initialization problem with the new version. Im glad, but surprised. Thanks
