Proportional Scaling Using Shift Button Not Working
In the 2017.1 release of InDesign, the ability to hold Shift and scale objects proportionally seems to have disappeared. I know for me this is a major functionality problem that is increasing the time I have to spend on current projects. I've checked support forums and others are encountering this problem, but I haven't yet seen a solution.

Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!
Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.
For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.

In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

What is going on. illustrator is having the same issue after updating last night. It was working fine until just now. Restarted everything again and other suggestions here didn't work for me. I need to work! ADOBE! Please fix the issue!

Hi everyone...scales fine when using the alt/option button...drag in or out and the proportion is 100% it does scale from center tho.

CC 2018 (13.1) problem still there. Quitting Safari does seem to resolve this.

Thanks, Mark! I did what you did – quit Safari – and proportional scaling in InDesign started working again! I've re-opened Safari and proportional scaling continues to work fine. Thank you!

I have restarted the computer, restarted the application, clicked "snap to" off and on, disabled security software, turned on auto fit (which is definitely not what I need for this particular project), reset "essentials workspace," and secure keyboard entry is not turned on on my mac.
The SHIFT+drag or any other SHIFT+ keyboard shortcut does not work under any of these circumstances.

Has anyone found a solution to this that works on Windows? Reset Essentials hasn't worked on my end.

when safari and indesign is opened together, the space-bar (handcursor) doesn´t appear. also it could cause to fail the shift-key, when it is to use for scaling or moving an object in a line.
after closing safari all functions are working correct again.
safar 11.1.1, OS 10.13.5, indesign 13.1 -

Using selection tool, double click on the image you want to resize. (For me,doing this turns object frame edge turquoise.) To enlarge, use only shift (shift and command will move the image within the frame.) Drag the corner to enlarge.

This issue has not been resolved. Having this problem and others. Cannot copy (drag) and paste with other keys. Needs to be fixed!

None of these suggestions have worked. This is outragious since we must pay monthly to have the program & it is not working correctly! Costing us all time which is money.

update... it wasn't working for me... i've no add ons to my Safari, but I quit Safari and it's now scaling... restarted Safari and still ok

Same for me.... strangely I've been using it all morning and now... no cigar! Grrrrr. Tried quitting etc etc
No virus, password saver etc, I've tried all the solutions shown and none work
