Text Wrap on image container is applied to image bounds
When applying text wrap to an image container, indesign (v14.0.1 macOS) now applies the text wrap to the image inside the container - rather frustrating if you are cropping in on part of an image with the image from.
Steps to Reproduce - Place image inside container frame making sure that the image is scaled larger than the frame (cropped by frame). Place image container over text and apply text wrap.
Expected Result - text wrap applied to container should be based on container dimensions.
Actual result - text wrap applied to image inside the container making the text wrap…

Creating New Hyperlink - doesn’t copy the full selected URL
InDesign CC 13.1
Mac OS El Capitan 10.11.6I discovered this lately due to client complaining about URLs not working after export to PDF.
As per my video, I select the full URL in the text box, select New Hyperlink, and the field doesn’t populate with full URL.
After some testing, the cut off point seems to be random and don’t happen specifically at hyphens or periods.Whether the URL flows to multiple lines or is on the same line, I get the same result.
What is causing this? This is a big issue since I work on documents that…
2 votesThere is a max limit of 100 characters in the URL field of the Hyperlink dialog.
Workaround: User can copy the URL to the Clipboard and paste it into the URL field when creating a Hyperlink.—

Oswald Book Font Installed on Windows but doesn't work in InDesign
I am using InDesign CC 14.0 for Windows 7 and I am having trouble with a font called Oswald. I have 3 fonts from the family Oswald installed on my computer (book, light, and bold). However, Oswald Book does not work in InDesign. It works in Illustrator and Microsoft Word so it appears to be an InDesign issue rather than a font installation issue.

Converting footnotes to endnotes ignores some endnote-settings
Indesign CC 2019 (oct)
When converting footnotes to endnotes the endnotes-settings for creating them at the end of story or in a place gun are ignored. Endnotes from converted footnotes are always placed in a new frame at the end of document.
Expected behaviour: Converted footnotes should appear in the place gun if the endnote-setting says so.
(Sidenote/Opinion: letting indesign insert a single page seems like a workaround - as this might reflow a large document and also totally jumble up the page composition. I know that ID has become way more clever in dealing with odd/even switching of pages…

What about screenplay? Will InCopy replace Story?
Hello everyone.
I know that Story will be discontinued, and I noticed that the InCopy just came to play.
I was happy to have a screen writing software that I have already paid for, even though I am an adobe client for it's video editing softwares.
If InCopy is capable to assist me on writing, I will not need to spend more money on writingWhat I need from InCopy is what I had on story regarding to format, I mean: Scene Header, Action, Character, Parenthesis and Dialog... I just hit one key and I can swap between what I…

English:UK spelling currently not picking up US spellings 'ize', 'izing'
InDesign is not currently detecting US spellings that use 'ize' in text that is set as 'English: UK'. (example 'organize'). We have checked to make sure there are no local overrides, such as paragraph or character styles set to 'English: USA' (there aren't), and that the undetected spelling has not been added to the custom dictionary (they haven't been). Failure to pick up 'ize' spellings is a departure from previous behaviour and is quite problematic for our workflow. Other US English spellings (such as 'behavior') are being detected.

Non-breaking spaces & non-joiner odd behavior
The attached file has a bunch of samples. In summary, ID2018 on Mac considers a word and following spaces as one word; and a non-joiner is ignored. You'll need New Century Schoolbook LT Std to maintain proper spacing.

CC 2019 - Not all installed fonts show up in in search/font list
When I select a word, want to change the font and type a font that I have installed, it doesnt show up in the search. It does show up in the list though.
In the pictures, for example Alana and AnnabelleJF are in the List, but don't appear when searching for them. (Instead Andalus is showing, which didn't show in the list before...(???)
If i click on the Adobe Fonts Tab ("find more"/"mehr suchen") of course it shows those, but its a big hassle searching for a font and always having to switch between tabs. All installed fonts should be…

Make editing text faster
When I want to, for example, remove all "m2" from "### m2" in table rows (20+ rows of table), I have to slow down my clicking, because InDesign doesn't register a selection change (double click to select), if I do it too fast. Woud be good if it was instantaneous like Word.
My process: 1. Double click to select m2. 2. Press backspace or delete. 3. Double click to select next m2. And so on.I know I could find-replace, but sometimes I don't want to set up a find and replace. And it just a little annoyance, which not…

Double running header and multiple stories
Running headers will not reset to blank when used with multiple stories.
Create a multi-page document, and flow some text into. Create two paragraph styles (Section # and a Section header). Create a running header using both with a page number (P [Section #:] [Section header]) on the master page. Now, if you add a new section # and a Section header a couple pages in, the footer will update. If you put a blank Section # paragraph, the section number will disappear from the footer (as it should). Now, if you start a new the story on a new…

Cmd/Ctrl+Backspace and Cmd/Ctrl+Delete bugs
Hi,
Cmd/Ctrl+Backspace and Cmd/Ctrl+Delete bugs act erratically in latest InCopy (13.1) on Mac and Windows: contrary to all other apps and InDesign Story Editor, they delete words from seemingly random side of the cursor.
See https://forums.adobe.com/message/10524905
Actual result: Cmd+Del often deletes from left hand side, Cmd+Backspace often deletes from right hand side of the cursor.
Expected result: Cmd/Ctrl+Del always deletes the word to the right of the cursor; Cmd/Ctrl+Backspace always deletes a word from to the left of the cursor.

Keyboard bold shortcut uses wrong font weight
When I press Cmd+B to unbold Helvetica, it makes it UltraLight instead of regular. How weird! The old CS6 InDesign seemed to know what non-bold was better than the new font selector. Please take its information and make the new tool smarter. Thx

Stops letting me type
I'm using InDesign 2018 and I will have my cursor in a text box and be typing when the program will stop letting me enter new text. The only way to continue entering text is to tab out of the program and back in. I have no idea what step lead to this issue.

BUG: Changes aren't tracked for bottom-right table cell
The last cell in a table is a “dead” cell as far as Track Changes is concerned. If you copy cells from another row and paste them in the last table row, if the selection you are pasting into contains the last cell in the table, the pasted text will not be marked as a change. Likewise, inserting a new row in a table as the last row via drag and drop isn’t marked as an insertion at all. Inserting a new column in a table as the last column via drag and drop is tracked as an insertion for…

Table with Alternating Row Stroke
When using a table with alternating row strokes, the stroke between the first and second rows is always 1pt, not matter what the cell or table style is set to.
In this example, every other row of the body should be stroked at .5pt. Everything works except the first row, which is 1pt.

Editing Text Causes First Line to Move Down
If you edit text, the top line drops down (a little bit? not sure how much), as if the text frame has inset spacing from the top.

Fix it!
Footnote symbols at the beginning and at the end of the footnote I can't delete them nor the space that associated with the damn blasted symbol.
It's just a mess. Endnotes footnotes it's a horror show to deal with them. I wasn't before but with this update---truly a horror show.
2 votesHi,
Thanks for mentioning this. Do you mean the blue braces at the end and start of endnote text?
Those are just markers that depict the start and end of endnote text. This will not be printed or exported. helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/endnotes…To adjust the spaces, please explore and set the Type→Document Endnote options.
Please let us know if this helps you out.

paste
I'm running High Sierra (10.13.1) and InDesign CC 2018 (November release), and MS Office 2017 (Version 15.40). I have been trying to copy text from Word into text frames in InDesign, and for the past few days, every time I hit Command-V in InDesign, the program immediately freezes and stops responding. No matter how long I wait, the only way out is to force quit.
