comments
There is an extreme lag when using the Import PDF Comments feature. Sometimes I have to select "Accept" multiple times to activate the comment. And the file is very slow, it can take 20 or 30 seconds for the comment to be applied which is unbearable when working on a large 300+ page book with hundreds of comments. This used to work seamlessly but with the 2024 upgrade it is a total nightmare. I searched the forums and it seems like this has been a problem for some time and has not been fixed—this should be resolved considering this is…

Imported PDF comments on graphics transferred to text on page
- InDesign 19.0
- Add Acrobat comments to placed Illustrator graphics in an exported PDF, then import the PDF to PDF Comments in the source InDesign document.
- One would expect a warning dialog or just unmapped comments in InDesign.
- Instead, InDesign tries to map the comments elsewhere on the page.
- Screenshot shows the example I encountered with strikethrough markup. Instead of the % signs in the graphic, InDesign wants me to delete random letters and spaces in the text.

Imported PDF comments listed in the wrong order
- InDesign 19.0
- Mark up an InDesign-exported PDF using Acrobat. The page should be text-heavy and have multiple, tedious changes indicated. Import the marked-up PDF into the source InDesign document's layout. Display the PDF and InDesign layout side-by-side on your screen.
- The comments should be listed in the same order in Acrobat and InDesign.
- The comments are listed in the correct order in Acrobat, but are in a completely random order in InDesign.
- See attached screen shot.
PDF comments invariably appear in the wrong order in the list compared to their counterparts in Acrobat. The Acrobat list makes sense as comments…

PDF comments import problem
In the previous version I was able to work very smoothly with the comments I imported, but in this version the computer crashes. It freezes during processing.

Pdf comments - Sticky notes freeze file
INDD 18.0 PDF comments has something chronically slow going on with the sticky notes. We have done some testing here and also confirmed by other in the forums https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/pdf-comments-sticky-notes-makes-document-extremly-slow/m-p/13368359#M503963
If you delete the sticky notes the file will work as expected. But if you have 1 sticky note on a page, any editing on that page is painfully slow!
WORKAROUND - action sticky notes outside of INDD then delete them and import the file. Not ideal but manageable until Adobe can fix this one.

When a comment is made in a PDF using the Insert Text tool, that comment doesn't map to ID 18.5 and previous versions.
For the past month or so the insert text comments made in a PDF do not map to the InDesign doc. I'm getting comments from multiple users. All other mark-up is mapping as expected except insert text. I update ID every time a new version is released but this bug seems to be persistent.

InDesign and PDF comments: extremely slow
- Version of Adobe InDesign V 18.0
- Importing the PDF comments to indesign, some tags when selected, makes the program extremely slow, taking several minutes to release the indesign again.
- The expected result would be that it was a matter of seconds and not minutes.
- The basic ones work very well, but markings like geometric figures and annotations make the indesign very slow.
- And here's a link to a video to see how you need to switch from one appointment to another: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jzxsh7t9ci0a8y1/teste.mp4?dl=0

Importing PDF Comments: inclusion of Sticky Notes slows InDesign down to a crawl.
When importing PDF Comments, it is mostly a breeze until the editor/author applies a 'Sticky Note'.
Moving through a document where 'Sticky Notes' have been added, the page, and surrounding pages, slows InDesign to a crawl and can take a few minutes to apply one change.
While my workaround is to run through all the 'Sticky Notes' in the PDF file first and apply those changes independently before deleting them, I can then import the PDF Comments in the usual way to speed up the remaining part of the process without being hindered.

Import PDF Comments not supported
We are using InDesign CC 2022 version in production and try to import the comments from the PDF which created using the same Indesign file. But we encountered the alert as "PDF is not created from InDesign. Select another PDF to continue". Please check and suggest. Sample files are attached for reference.

Indesign doesn't mark 'single letter' PDF comments in the last words of the lines
Indesign 17.2.1 x64, Win 10
Indesign doesn't mark 'single letter Replace' comments in the last words in the line. If there is 'Replace single letter' in previous words, it works fine, if there is 'Replace whole last word', it works fine.1 vote -
copy
Allow normal use of copy and paste with system-wide shortcuts from PDF comments. Most of the time I try to copy text from a PDF comment to paste into a document, the selection disappears and no "copy" option appears. I need to be able to copy and paste text from comments as easily as any other text. This issue is seen in 17.2.1 on an M1 iMac running Monterey 12.3.1.

Unable to delete PDF comments
In Indesign 17.0.1, I have a few book files in which once I import PDF comments and apply them, I cannot delete them. Also if I choose to filter the comments by "unresolved" once I resolve or apply a comment, it does not disappear as it should. File now has multiple rounds of comments that need to be deleted to make way future rounds of revision. Also finding that applying the comments is VERY slow and buggy (this book is ~300 pages).

PDF comments on footnotes import wrong
Whenever I receive PDF comments on footnote references, they import with the wrong position into InDesign.
In the attached screenshot you can see a delete/strikethrough comment on the footnote reference, yet after importing into InDesign it has moved to the glyph in front of the footnote reference. This needs to be fixed as it leads to errors, and forces me to check all the comment positions manually using Acrobat as InDesign cannot be trusted.
There are similar problems for bulleted/numbered lists (if the comment is placed on the bullet/number or at the end of a line).
