  2. PDF comments panel does not stick in workspace

We have discovered that the PDF Comments panel disappears when a document is closed.

But we have also found that any panels that are grouped with the PDF Comments panel in a saved workspace disappear when the document is closed.

Refreshing the workspace brings them all back.

  3. Selection of PDF Comments

    InDesign CC2019 (14.02 x64) Windows 10

I am only able to select the corresponding sticky note icon from imported PDF comments at 100% or less view magnification. This is unhelpful as at this scale, large dimension sized documents the text is greeked out, I need to zoom in to see what is written in my document to compare against the comment, but then have to zoom back out to select the next icon to bring that comment to the fore of the list.

Please correct so I can select sticky notes while panning throughout a document at >100%.

  4. Invisible character

Apply all Auto Edits inserts an invisible character before which then interferes with Find and Replace. When pasted into a GREP search, it looks like ~I, but can't be found. It can be manually removed, but this is not helpful, as I need to be able to perform a comprehensive Find/Replace.

  5. Import PDF Comments not working correctly for Tables.

PDF comment import not working accurately on tables

    1. ID 14 Mac
    2. Import PDF comments to layout including simple 2-column tables in which an entire row is marked as deleted/struck through
    3. Expected that the entire row would be deleted upon acceptance of edit via PDF Comments palette
    4. In fact Accepting edit only deletes the contents of the first cell of the row, leaving the orphaned data behind.

  6. Poor copy text functionality from import PDF Comments panel in InDesign

I've just worked through a document after importing PDF comments. While in the main, the feature is really good, I am encountering poor copy text functionality from the PDF commenting panel. I have to try and select the text in the hope that 'copy' flag appears before I can copy it. Selecting certain parts of the text is difficult, but also noted that parts of the copy in the comment, even though not selected, are being included in the copied text including the date stamp (XX/XX) in the lower left corner as well as user name that applied the amendment…

  7. Unable to Import PDF Comments from Acrobat 2019 Shared Review

PDFs with shared Reviews running off the Adobe Document Cloud are not able to import comments into InDesign.

Since Acrobat 2019, we are no longer able to use our own review server. There's now a big blue button to share the review using the Adobe Document Cloud. While this simplifies using Shared Reviews, the review PDF is now hosted and maintained by Adobe. Then, there is no longer a way to import the comments into InDesign.

To import a PDF's Shared Review Comments, InDesign requires access to the copy of the PDF containing the comments. With Acrobat 2019, this copy…

  8. import pdf comments

    1. ID 14 Mac
    2. Copy text out of a comment to paste into layout
    3. Would expect that the cursor could be used to select all or part of an imported PDF comment
    4. In fact it is EXTREMELY difficult to get the palette to recognize that text is selected in the palette interface. The "Copy" popup does not appear a large proportion of the time, or you can't select the range of characters you need. Even though Acrobat is terrible at the same process, it is significantly faster to copy the needed range of characters from the comment…

  9. PDF comment: need Insert Text at Cursor tool

People who are reviewing now only can add a sticky note, , highlight text, underline text (and add a comment), strikeout text and draw. Adding text. The regular Comment toolbar also contains the Insert Text at Cursor tool. This must be added to the review features when documents are sent for review via the new Send for Review feature.

  10. Solved PDF comments become unmapped

Some solved PDF comments shows up as unmapped and unresolved.
I often end up with a long list of unmapped comments after I am done solving the list of comments.

  11. PDF Comments

InDesign CC 2019 was a revolutionary Version For me
Importing comments from a PDF file was AMAZING (I was waiting for it a long time ago), when i'm don with one of those imported comments, i deleted that comment from the panel, i discovered an unwanted hidden character with a (:) shape was left in my text, That causes me a lot of problems with the Diacritics positioning in my Text :(
I tried to remove it by copy and pasting it to the find and replace panel, it appears like a format shape ^| and it couldn't be found???!!!…

  12. Imported drawn PDF comments don't adjust in ID layout

    1. ID 14
    2. Import a batch of PDF comments into layout, including edits made using the Oval and Arrow tools to show placement. Then proceed to apply edits, thereby adjusting the location of the text on the page.
    3. I would expect the drawn edits to be tagged to a location in the text, and to track with the copy as it reflows. If this feature is going to be available, that is.
    4. Actual result: the markup remains on the page at the coordinates at which it was imported. By the time to you get to that location,…

  13. Import PDF Comments make WRONG EDIT

    1. ID 14
    2. Import edits from PDF to a text box that overlays another text box, in this case strikethroughs of text on the TOP BOX
    3. Select "Apply" to edit
    4. Edits are made TO THE LAYER BELOW.

    See screen dumps.
1: what the edit looks like in Acrobat.
2: what the ID file looks like with the PDF edit imported -- not visible.
3: what the ID file looks like when the caption is resized for clarity -- ID is applying the edits to the text on the LAYER BELOW.

  14. PDF Comments not hiding

PDF Comment import does not hide comments on the layout after the Hide Comments on Layout button is pressed.

The following is the process I followed:
    - Displayed the PDF Comments pane in InDesign.
    - Imported comments from PDF's.
    - Selected the Hide Comments on Layout Button in the PDF Comments pane.
    * Comments are hidden from view.
    - Leave the InDesign window
    - Return to InDesign, and some of the comment boxes are shown, some are not shown, and some are partially shown (the box is cut in half).
    - Move cursor over the Show Comments on Layout button.…

  15. PDF Comments Insert Issues

PDF Comments do not insert at the correct location when the Insert is marked at the start or the end of a paragraph. The insert at the start of the paragraph instead gets inserted at the end of the previous paragraph. The insert at the end of a paragraph instead gets inserted *before* the final character (tested with period and question mark and happened with both).

  16. Copy in Indesign layout is menu clicked "All Caps". PDF comments does not work. Only when copy is set to normal

When my copy in Indesign layout is menu clicked "All Caps" from tool bar or Character menu. I make a change request in the PDF. Like "remove" a word. Then Import the PDF comments. Accept does not work. The only time it works is if the copy is set to regular copy or if you type the copy in "All Caps". No menu changes.

  17. pdf comment

PDF comments are made in an export from a book document from InDesign 2019.
When importing the comments in the different InDesign files from the book, the comments from the previous book files appear somewhere between the comments of the current book file and are not marked as unmapped comments.

  18. InDesign CC1019 - Import function of PDF comments on graphics are incorrect

Step 1: Export PDF x4 from ID 14.0.1
Step 2: Correction of the PDF file with Acrobat DC 2019.008.20080
Step 3: Import PDF comments into ID file from before (ID 14.0.1)

Comments within graphics are not clearly assignable after import in InDesign.

In Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, the corrections are displayed correctly

If in PDF text corrections to graphics are marked with the PDF correction function, they will not be displayed completly when importing to InDesign. Or these are displayed in the wrong position.
