Unequal inset values in an Object Style don't display in a text frame if corners are rounded
If you use an object style with unequal inset spacing and apply it to a text frame, the unequal spacing is ignore and made uniform.
Steps to recreate:
1. Create an Object Style
2. Go to 'Text Frame General Options' for that style
3. Set unequal values for 'Inset Spacing'
4. Go to 'Stroke & Corner Cptions'
5. In 'Corner Options' set 'Rounded'
6. Create a Text Frame
7. Fill Text Frame with placeholder text
8. Apply Object Style to Text FrameResult: unequal inset spacing is ignored.
If you apply unequal inset spacing manually there are no problems —…
10 votesIt is not possible to have unequal inset spacing and corners other than none as they can’t go together.
It is designed this way.—

Widows/ Orphans/ Runts
Please allow us to automatically apply No Break GREP style .{10}$ without needing to create a "No Break" style and applying it to paragraph styles individually.
In the Paragraph window, a checkbox next to "Hyphenate" that reads "Remove Runts" or "No Short Break" executes this process automatically would be wonderful. It seems logical since I imagine the automatic "Hyphenate" works in a similar way.

Keyboard shortcut for Break Link to Style is not working correctly
InDesign 14.0.3
When I use a shortcut for Break Link to Style in the Paragraph Styles Panel, it completely destroys the formatting.
However, when I select the same command with my mouse - it works as expected - breaks the link with the style, while retaining formatting.

Paragraph Style won't override
- InDesign 2020 (15.0)
NOTE: I'm a designer with 22 years experience. I know part of this is 'sloppy' formatting on my part. But since switching to InDesign from QuarkXPress 15 years ago, I've never encountered this 'bug' before.
- I have a document with multiple 'old' Paragraph Styles. It's a multiple page document. A number of paragraphs have a style applied, but I've overridden them with other formatting.
The easy but lengthy fix would be to fix the Paragraph Style, but I was on a tight deadline.
PROBLEM:
When I try to override the Paragraph Style with other formatting, the Character…1 vote -
Sentence case in styles
Please add a "Sentence Case" to Paragraph Styles. Incredibly the choices are limited to Normal, Small Caps, All Caps, OpenType All Small Caps. When editing a book the subheads are almost always Sentence Case. Why would this not be an option?

Spanning columns sometimes makes my text move to the next page
I'm trying to span some text and every time I do that text jumps to the next page. I have the keep options to anywhere so it's not a style sheet issue. This seems to be a new bug related to CC2019. Since I am using footnotes and it's going to be accessible I can't fake it and add another text box.

Wrong font case in TOC when using character style with upper case
When generating table of contents it fetches the text and ignores paragraph styles, but character styles are left. This must be a misstake.
I want TOC to be title case and chapter headings to be upper case that is set in a paragraph style. So far so good. But I am adjusting minor words (and, at, etc) with a character style. And for those words the upper case setting also shows in TOC.

InDesign leading changes not applying
Whenever I change the leading (line spacing) under Character styles, the document won't accept the changes. I tried saving, quitting the program, and reopening, but the problem persists. Doesn't matter whether I apply the style to a single line or multiple lines.

Imported styles contain unwanted formatting
InDesign CC 2018
When I load styles from an existing document (one that got designed for me, and therefore has lots of styles that I need to reuse) the style in the new document contains lots of random additional settings.
The doc in question is MSM - Front and Back matter (attached). To recreate the issue, simply export any paragraph (or other) style into a different document and check out the extraneous formatting.
Attached files: Snip of an original style and snip of a style loaded to new doc. Tried to add the InDesign doc in question, but file type…1 vote -

Importing text styles from previous versions of InDesign cause a freeze
When I try to import text styles from files I made just a couple weeks ago in August, InDesign immediately bogs down (slow mouse movement for 1 second), and then freezes.
I am able to successfully import text styles from InDesign files created with previous versions of InDesign (<14.0) when I install and run InDesign 13.1.1, but have been unsuccessful with v14.

Issue with Character Formatting while using FN references
There is no bold in word file (RTF) although while flow to InDesign CS6 bold formatting applied, please check and provide solution for this issue.
Note: Issue occurred in text "<H2>[De vulneribus pectoris vel thoracis]."
after note reference 84 in the head level, which affects to next paragraph up to next formatting. Here i have attached docx instead of rtf file, since rtf files not allowed to post with bug request.

Paragraph Style Panel Overrides
THIS HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR YEARS NOW!
Paragraph Overrides
You used to be able to hover your mouse over a paragraph style in the paragraph style panel that had an override (plus sign). When you hovered over this style it would display a tool tip showing you what was overriding that style. This no longer works.
InDesign magazine has even written an article about it... https://indesignsecrets.com/how-to-get-tooltips-working-again.php
The only way to fix this problem is to resize the panel. Every time you need to see what is overriding a style you have to resize the panel meaning you may have to…

New, based-on Object style isn't "based on"
Take an Object Style and create a new style based on that style. When the new dialog opens with the based-on name present, it has a number of items chosen and selected, but it's not the same as the based on item.
You could try Duplicate Object Style and then add the based on-name, but while there is no error, any change made to the based-on object does not change the new object style.
2 votesBased on Style does inherit many of the properties from the Base style. And when you change those properties in the Base style, those properties get propagated to the child style.

Drop CAP Extends to the Next Paragraph
When a paragraph using a drop initial has fewer lines than what is indicated in the drop initial dialog, the following paragraph indents for as many lines as is missing in the previous drop initial paragraph, even if the following paragraph has space between it and the preceding drop initial paragraph.
The attached example shows a 1 line paragraph with drop a initial set up as 2 lines. The next paragraph indents.
I think it very odd that the drop initial formatting goes beyond the paragraph to which it is applied. Took me a bit to figure out where the…
