Footnotes appear directly under para unless 'Span fn across columns' is selected in text frame or footnote options
Even when working on a single column layout, with no multiple columns in the document this happens. It means that without selecting the 'Span fn across columns' option the footnotes appear at various places in a page.
We should not have to select this option for a single column design.
It also seems to add extra spacing below the paragraph, even if the option is selected. As if the spacing is created for the fn, even though it now appears at the bottom of the text frame instead of after the para!
This is using v 15.0.1 x64 on windows.

Superscript numbering in number list
When superscript character style is applied to the number of a numbered list the size is set correctly but the baseline shift is not applied. I.E. you end up with a small number on the baseline.

[ CC-2019 and 2020 ] The Convert-Endnotes-To-Footnotes Disaster SCOPE: SELECTION with CONTEXT MENU
Hi together,
I'm using the context menu available for text selection to convert endnotes to footnotes by selecting text in the endnote text frame. The result is not as expected. However it is better than using the dialog in menu Type for converting endnotes to footnotes with scope selection.
What is the issue?
One endnote was converted but not removed.
Two footnote text are missing the first character.
One footnote text has a special character that should not be there.
Style overrides were not transferred.
Footnote references get style overrides of the character they are attached to.All the important…

[ CC-2019 and 2020 ] The Convert-Endnotes-To-Footnotes Disaster SCOPE: SELECTION
Hi together,
I'm using the menu dialog, not the context menu, for converting endnotes to footnotes. Scope: SelectionThe result is not as expected.
3 out of 7 endnotes were not converted to footnotes.
1 additionally was converted, but the corresponding endnote was not removed.Trying again with a different selection of the remaining endnote texts:
Now the first endnote could be converted, I assume because I selected all the endnote text. However the remaining endnotes couldn't be converted. All the details can be found at the Adobe InDesign Forum:
I am showing all this in more detail at the…

[ CC-2019 and 2020 ] The Convert-Endnotes-To-Footnotes Disaster SCOPE: DOCUMENT
Hi together,
I'm using the menu dialog, not the context menu, for converting endnotes to footnotes. Scope: DocumentThe result is not as expected.
There are 7 endnotes in my document. Only 5 were detected by the conversion and only 3 of that 5 were actually converted. In one of the not detected endnotes the text has changed after the conversion. Some separator characters were added.
I am showing all this in more detail at the Adobe InDesign Forum and at InDesign Prerelease as well. Together with a link to my test documents.

Opening a CC18 Indesign File into CC19 only to convert in the latest version as per client request.
After opening, some fonts are appearing as double in the fonts pannel, within the same text box and with same info.

Bad interact: Keep Lines Together & Start Paragraph in Next Frame, not working at Threaded Auto-Size (height) Text Frames
Working on InDesign CC2018 in Windows7.
When having threaded two (or more) auto-sizing (height only) text frames, and typing in the first of them, at the end of first line the cursor jumps to the next frame. No auto-size, no keeping lines of the paragraph together.1 vote -
Copy & paste from 2020 to 2018 doesn't work
Made a table in 2018, saved the INDD, then open in 2020, changed only text in the table, now want to copy & paste back to 2018 file -> not possible. It's exactly the same table. When pasting to pasteboard, the table rows look the same, only the style color has changed.

Column Rules fail if a Table is the first item in a Text Frame
(Hmm ... tried to attach an INDD file and I'm told they're not allowed. Really? OK ... will try a ZIP file with the INDD inside. Nope ... ZIP won't work either. Uploading a PNG screenshot)
Column Rules fail if a Table is the first item in a Text Frame
Please see the attached sample file.
On page 1 and 2 you will find a variety of 2-column frames with column rule applied.
In each case, the column rule will fail BECAUSE the first item in the frame is a Table. But, on page 2 I've added one extra example…
13 votesHi,
The feature is working as expected. As soon as you add some text below the table, the Column Rules work fine.—

Mixed usage Left-to-right and Right-to-left text in the same paragraph
Ms Word files can contain Right-To-Left and Left-To-Right text in the same paragraph. When copy/pasting the text into Indesign, only one of the 2 textdirections is displayed correctly.
Creating the text frame which uses the Right-to-Left text direction, and using the World Ready composer, the corresponding text is displayed well. Inline phrases in English, are displayed wrong. Changing the composer to regular Single line composer fixes the English phrases, but messes up the foreign language.
When using different paragraphs, each with the corresponding composer, all works well. When a combination is used in a single paragraph, it can't be fixed.

Text options greyed out when I select more than one box that are linked.
Text options greyed out when I select more than one box that are linked using selection tool. For example I want to select 3 linked text boxes and change the text colour. The [T] button in the colours panel is greyed out. So is font, etc. Means that I have go into each box and select the text requires extra click. Did not use to be this way in CC2019. Please fix.

paragraph collapsed into single line
CC2020 InDesign, multi document book, paragraph styles that force all text to the baseline grid, with space between paragraphs. Instead, occasionally and unpredictably, paragraphs will collapse so that all lines are laid on top of one another. Leading is not zero.
Solutions have been:
- Hard return, then delete the return
- add a single line after or before the paragraph to take the place of space-after
- move the text-wrapped image near the paragraph up or down.None of these solutions work all the time, and sometimes none work.
WTF.

spelling e.g
- InDesign 15.0.1 x64 (for Windows 10)
- Check spelling in document. When InDesign comes to the term "e.g." it highlights "e.g" as misspelled. The dictionary includes "e.g." as one of the suggested corrections. If I select that option and use "change," InDesign will correct the term to "e.g.." and then will immediately rehighlight "e.g" as a misspelling.
- Since it already includes e.g. as an option within the dictionary, it should not flag that as a misspelling.
- InDesign does not include the final period as part of the term, and so it consistently flags that term as misspelled.

Cursor should return to starting location after find/change
- InDesign 15.0.1 x64 (Windows 10)
- I have a document with about 20 pages full of text. As I am reading through the text, I notice an error that I need to fix (such as a misspelled name, for example). I activate the the find/change dialog box and run a search and replace to change all of the misspelled names to the correct spelling. When I am finished, I click done in the Find/Change window.
- I may be misremembering, but it seems to me that in past versions of InDesign, when I clicked "Done" my cursor would jump back to the…
