  1. Title Case Is Not Actually Title Case

I'm editing book with over 1,000 pages. I am selecting copy, changing case to Title Case, but it just capitalizes first letter in all words. There needs to be another case option. Title case needs to be setup so it makes a "title" of a book so words like "of" are not capitalized. New option can be called First Letter Caps, and Title case can be fixed to address words that should not be capitalized in a title of a book or headline.

  3. Not able to set default font when it comes from Adobe Fonts library

Purista font family is installed but when I try tu pick it from menu as default font (in type panel or top app menu) it is visible in brackets with name changed - as a missing font.

When I create a document it is still missing (screenshot _31). Then I have to reactivate adobe fonts by turning off Adobe fonts for a while (screen _32) and after it it works like it should (screen _33).

  4. Some Cyrillic RTF files exported from Indesign are broken if a non-breakable space was used

    Indesign 20.3.1 x64 release.

Attached is the Indesign file. Both frames are identical, except for the topmost has one non-breaking space and the bottommost has a regular space instead. The export from the top frame produces the buggy RTF (a screenshot of the glitch location is attached), while the bottom one is ok. If we put any non-breaking space there - it will fail as well.
The bug was reported as font-dependent as well, i.e. the text set in Arial may have the bug while the text set in Minion Pro may not have it.

  5. Font Futura PT is not recognized by InDesign

Font Futura PT is not recognized by InDesign, I saved it in Adobe Fonts in a library and activated it, updated Indesign to the latest version 20.3.1 and restarted my MAC. It still doesn't work.

  6. Bolding missed/changed while importing Word doc

    I'm using ID 20.2 on Mac 15.4.1.

I am producing a book with an index that has bolding to indicate photos, but the bolding was missed or changed in a random manner when imported. It was accurate until it reached E, then there were about 200 errors that had to be manually fixed. Here were my steps:

    • Imported file word doc with Preserve Styles checked

    • Search/repace for bold and italic with bold and italics Character Style

This should have caught all bold and italics and changed them to my style sheet – but, as mentioned, many were missed,…

  7. Text box disappears when text converted to outlines

Many sign printers require that all text is converted to outlines. When I do, any text box that has a colour defined disappears. I need to duplicate the box first and delete the text in the underlying box, then convert the above text to outlines. A bit of an arduous process.

This shouldn't happen – it's been an issue for years.

Can you please change it so that converting text to outlines doesn't alter the graphics – that is, the coloured and/or stroked text box remains?

    Thanks!

  8. Lists ignore alignment when story is subject to object wrapping

    InDesign v20.1.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. In a blank document, create a new story. Add a few blank lines, then a new paragraph with list settings (either bullets or numbers). Align it to center or right.
    2. Create an ellipsis and set its wrapping options to contour wrapping.
    3. Move the ellipsis so that it intersects the story above the actual list (the list doesn't have to be in range of the wrapping countour).

    Expected result:
Nothing should happen to the list, since it's far from the wrapping area.

    Actual result:
The numbers/bullets get aligned the left, no matter what…

  9. Library text frame auto-size error

    Product: Adobe InDesign
    Version: 20.2
    Platform: macOS
    Issue type: Bug
    Severity: Moderate
    Reproducible: Always

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a text frame with a single character (e.g. “X”).
    2. Enable Auto-Size (Height only).
    3. Save the text frame to the Library.
    4. Place the frame into a layout from the Library.

    Expected result:
Text frame should retain Auto-Size setting and adjust to the content’s height.

    Actual result:
Auto-Size is disabled, and the frame stretches from the insertion point to the bottom of the text frame area / margin, even though there’s only one character inside.

    Workaround:
    If the text frame…

  10. Converting a text URL to a hyperlink removes the instances of the text variables!!!

    1. All InDesign versions
    2. Create a URL that includes Text Variable instance
    3. URL looks and prints correctly,
    4. but hyperlink is wrong: there are no text variables values in it.

It is obvious that URLs are convenient to generate from text variables. Especially if there are thousands of them!
This would be a phenomenal solution not only to our problem, but...

Instead of substituting the values of text variable instances, nothing is replaced (empty strings instead of text variable instances), and the hyperlink (which looks and prints correctly in the text) is generated as invalid!
We need to create and maintain a…

  11. Portuguese from Portugal

The Portuguese language originated in Portugal.
That being said, the Portuguese Dictionary from Portugal implemented in InDesign should align with the native language. In fact, there are numerous supposed errors detected by Dynamic Spelling.
InDesign insists on not accepting words like "Económico" or "prémios," as it considers them to be mistakes, given that in Brazilian Portuguese, which is a variant of the Portuguese language, they are not written this way. It's about time they fix this issue.
    Thank you.

  12. Missing character in CentSchbook CE font in InDesign2025

Yesterday, while working in Indesign 2025, white spaces appeared in the imported text where the letter "r" should be - one character suddenly disappeared! Even in the font set there is a white space instead (see picture). I tried this set in Word and it continues to appear there. It also appears when I try it in the old version of Indesign CS4. Not here in ID2025. However, about two days ago I was already creating documents in ID2025 with this font set and there was no problem. This is a current problem that I need to resolve immediately. Thanks…

  13. Issue Report: Kerning Not Applied with Ligatures Enabled in InDesign 2024/2025 (Regression from 2023

    Description:
A kerning issue occurs in Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 when using ligature-supported fonts like Microsoft Uighur Font. Manual kerning adjustments fail to apply when ligatures are enabled. This problem does not occur in InDesign 2023, where disabling ligatures allows kerning to function as expected.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Font Setup: Use Microsoft Uighur Font in InDesign 2024/2025. (I use my personal font)
    2. Text Input: Type a word containing the ligature اللہ (e.g., any two Arabic text).
    3. Enable Ligatures: Ensure ligatures are turned on (Character panel > Ligatures: ON).
    4. Apply Manual Kerning: Attempt to adjust kerning…

  14. overlapping text on paragraph break in INDD

When formatting text using a parent page element that's been activated (by using Shift + CMD + Click) on a page, and forcing a paragraph break so that the text goes from two lines to three, the first of the now three lines "hides" behind the second line. The current fix to this issue is to make an edit to the first line so it "pays attention" to the change and goes where it's supposed to.

Font used: Los Feliz OT, Bold, 27
    Justification: Bottom

Screenshots included of before the edit, during the edit, and fixed, with hidden characters turned…

  15. Copying text frames results in pasted PDF

Copying text frames from older versions of InDesign (example 2022 to 2025 – v.20.1) results in a pdf frame, meaning the text is uneditable. The only workaround I have discovered is to copy the text itself, paste it into the new document, and reformat the frame. I believe the discussion posted here - https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-locking-text-frames-with-old-id-files/m-p/15147987 – is referring to the same issue.

  16. [ID-4260027] “Change Case” option does not refresh when opening saved search

“Change Case” option does not refresh when opening saved search
When a “Change Case” option is set on the GREP tab of the Find/Change dialog, it remains active until it is manually cleared or InDesign is restarted. This is a problem since it means that saved searches are producing unexpected results. Other options in the “change format” refresh as expected, so this appears to be a bug. It is especially problematic when running a chain of GREP searches because incorrect capitalization can result in numerous errors.

  18. It's not possible to look for tables using the GREP tab

In the Text tab you can look for <0017> and find the tables in the active document (or selected story).

But it's not possible to look for tables using the GREP tab. Looking for \x{0017} or \x17 doesn't match anything.

    Step to reproduce:
    1. Create a new document, place a text frame, and add a table.
    2. Open the Find/Change window, activate the GREP tab.
    3. Run this GREP query: \x{0017}
    4. Then try this one: \x17

Expected result: both queries found the table.

Actual result: InDesign reports that nothing was found.

  19. The GREP character . (dot) does not match after footnote markers

The GREP character . (dot) does not match after footnote markers. In this text (where [1] is a footnote marker):

Footnotes are so called[1] because they are at the foot of the page.

The GREP expression to match a whole paragraph matches up to and including the footnote marker, but not after.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Run this GREP query (I can't attach .indd, .idml, or .zip files, so you'll have to create your own document):

    ^.+

    Actual result:

The fragment "Footnotes are so called[1]" is matched.

    Expected result:

The whole paragraph should be matched.
