Add items during packaging
I hope you can also include additional files during packaging. When we package files, we usually include 3 PDF files (Print Quality for Readers, with Bleed for the Printer, and Low Quality for uploading online. In addition to the PDF files, we add another file which is the cover of the publication in JPEG format. Hope this will be added in the future. Thanks.

Textbox use auto-size to automate border placement
Under "text frame options" we have "auto-size" which is an amazing feature, but not used to its full potential.
If we combine this with textbox borders, I could automate text boxes with Data Merge on a grand scale.
Most of the groundwork for this feature already exists. All that's left is to be able to set a rectangle to automatically resize to match a textbox.

Edit Styles/Access Style Options dialog from Properties panel
It is easy to create a new style via the Properties panel, but cumbersome to edit styles.

Remove Adjust Content from InDesign (or disable it)
When changing margins there is a new box that says "Adjust Content". This totally screws up your files if you don't uncheck it. I cannot find a way to disable the" adjust content" permanently. It should probably be either a preference or just removed from InDesign completely as it doesn't perform any useful function.

No scroll options in Font menu
Please, add a scroll bar and/or scroll wheel/page down/page up options and maybe start typing font name desired to functionality in the font menu in InDesign CC PC versions! Painful at best without these options.

type measurement units
I choose inches for my units. It used to be, that even when I did this, type units were always in points... specifically space before and space after paragraphs. Now, they display in inches. I know I can type in "p8" and it will convert... but I need to SEE it in points, rather than having to change my units every time I need to see this. I thought that previous versions also had, in preferences, units specifically for Type. I would like this feature back.

Shared graphics within an object box
Please make it possible to share a graphic in an object style. This feature was available 30 years ago in Quicksilver (Interleaf).
For example, we create multiple manuals that are scripts for administrators. When there is a speaking part, clients want a graphic of some sort to indicate that the administrator read the text. Or there are graphics that repeat throughout the document, but at the last minute, something may change. The object style can control so much , why not the content within the object box?
PLEASE!!!!!

DIV STYLE Panel FOR EPUB/HTML
Using hundreds of anchored text boxes (with Object styles) within threads is time-consuming but necessary to provide <div> classes for css.
It would be MUCH quicker if there was an InDesign Div Styles panel where I could apply a class for css to a section that needs different styling between PDF and ePub/html versions. These sections often contain 5 different Paragraph Styles so I need to add some kind of wrapper.1 vote -
"Go back to a specific page"
"Go back to a specific page" - meaning if I have text links in the file and move from page 10 to page 110, give me an easy way to return to where I came from. In this case, page 10. Like a back button navigating through webpages.

Option to not include InCopy Assignments when Packaging an InDesign file.
When using the Package feature, we need an option to choose whether or not to include InCopy .icml assignment links. I need to send a packaged InDesgin document with links, fonts, etc. to 3rd party designers. They won't need the InCopy assignments, and I don't want missing link error messages when they open the file.

Revert back so files can be moved or renamed while the file is open
If you have a file open and make changes, then move the icon to another folder, or change the document name. This corrupts the file until the icon has been put back in the original place or renamed back to the original title. This causes lots of problems if you have multiple indesign files open and you are moving them around the computer as you work on different projects throughout the day. It is very easy to loose all of your work if you can’t remember the exact location of the original file or the exact name of the document when you first opened it. The recover never works. This has only been a problem since updating to 2018 indesign, please reinstate so we can have flexibly without the fear of loosing the work you have created. It was never a problem before the 2018 version.

Diagnostic tool for Pre-flighting files/fonts
Diagnostic tool for Pre-flighting files/fonts
Indesign says it can't copy necessary files? But what files are those? why is there a problem? The information provided is weak, and needs to be stronger and support a better workflow. I think designs want better informational tools and pre-flighting.

Cache remote/server images on local drive for high quality display preview
Yesterday I was working on a document from another office so the server wasn't in the building. I was working on graphics that required hi-res display so I could use them as a guide, but because they were all on the server the performance was abysmal. I realised after a while what the problem was, copied them to my local hard drive and re-linked so everything was much faster.
InDesign should be able to do this automatically: when a large image is not on the local drive, a copy of it could live in a cache somewhere to be used to generate the hi-res previews. If the server image changes, the local copy can simply be refreshed. It would greatly speed things up and avoid having to maintain and link to different sets of images.

Zoom to selection is not using enough screen real estate
when using shortcut shift-cmd-= to perform a zoom to selection, the object is being centred, which is good, but the zoom view is too small given that there're just too many spaces being left around the object.
Ideally, when zoom to selection this will snugly fit the object just into the window, which I found an interesting coincidence. Say for example, theres an object thats being set to zoom to selection, and the zoom level of it is 30.7% (and just feel how small the object would look on screen at this level), then you multiply this number by 2, and change the zoom level to 61.4%, and boom, the object can PERFECTLY fit into the window.
I assume this is what this shortcut mean to perform in old days when there's no retina display (which is why you multiply 2 and it fits perfectly)
but instead of fit it perfectly into the window (which by even fixing this is already a huge appreciation), I prefer to leave a tiny small gap around the mostly closed edge (eg the top & bottom gap for a portrait object, or the left and right gap for lanscape), quite often what i want to do next is to resize, and if they fit perfectly next to the edge, its hard to select the corner or so to drag. By leaving a small gap this will be the ultimate solution for this shortcut

Horizontal guides that alter in relation to margins
Horizontal guides that alter in relation to margins if you have to change the page sizing in document setup.
At the moment, if you need to change the page size of a document, you have to manually reset all the horizontal/row guides (e.g. Remove Existing Ruler Guides and reset the number of rows and the gutter). If InDesign automatically recalculated the guides it would save a lot of time.1 vote
