Indesign Share for Review User/Stakeholder UI experience
I am finding a lot of user error on my stakeholder's side when it comes time for them to review.
I think some basic information should pop up on how to leave a proper comment when they first access the review or fix it so it is always default to highlight/strikethrough.
For example: They can leave a regular comment just fine, however, I have no idea where in the text the change should be because they don't highlight the text first then click the tool needed. It's a simple step for people who are familiar with these reviews but some people that have never used it before, it is a nightmare for us designers to go back and forth on where the fix is.
I have started to leave a comment at the beginning of all of my reviews on how to use the tools but it ALWAYS happens that they forget to highlight first > then leave comment. There has got to be some improvement on the end-user experience.

Add ability to convert a cross-document shared destination hyperlink to a regular URL without losing/re-entering the link
FEATURE REQUEST
In order to help avoid broken and/or inadvertent cross-document shared links, please:
Add a function to the Edit Hyperlink dialog to CONVERT a hyperlink url currently shared from another document into a normal self-sufficient url unlinked from the source document. (Currently, making this change to a hyperlink requires the user to change the selection in the "Link To:" dropdown menu from "Shared Destination" to "URL" which clears the previous the URL, and then hunt down the source URL and manually re-input it.)
Add the ability to apply this conversion to multiple selected hyperlinks at one time from the Hyperlinks panel.
When PASTING content with shared hyperlinks from one doc to another, add a dialog step noting that the user is pasting a hyperlink shared from another doc, with the option to convert this pasted shared hyperlink to become self-sufficient (not linking to the source document).
When packaging an Indesign doc, in the "Package" dialog, add the option of converting all links shared from other documents into self-sufficient links.
While you're at it, please allow users to DESELECT "Shared Hyperlink Destination" by default when creating a new hyperlink, to help avoid the cross-document linking mess in the first place.
EXPLANATION
Shared Destination Hyperlink is a powerful feature that can be extremely frustrating when unintentionally applied across multiple documents. If the source document is ever moved or renamed, any shared destination hyperlink from that document in any OTHER document will break. And fixing the mess is a ridiculously arduous manual process. It's currently WAY too easy to unnecessarily create and propagate unintentionally shared-source links across multiple documents. Users would appreciate a little help recovering from or avoiding unintended cross-document links and the inevitable mess that results.

Allow users to change the favicon when Publishing Online
When Publishing Online it should be possible to change or personalise the favicon that's attached to the link we are creating

Book numbering options in one panel
Please streamline book numbering options into one panel. It's beyond aggravating to go from Layout -> Numbering & Section Options, then to the Book Panel -> Update Numbering and fumble around with that until you get it right. If the suggested panel had a "Preview" box as well, you could preview your changes until you get your desired result.

Make Arrowheads features same as Illustrator.
Why the control is the same, but result different for this Arrowhead feature from InDesign to Illustrator. I want to scale down arrowheads, but couldn't. Workaround is nice but why? when the Illustrator control works perfectly.

Text "before" and "after" user-definded variables
Text variables
For "User defined text" also allow to define "Text before..." and "Text after..." as it is possible for the predefined variables (like "Output date").
We often need pre- and post-text for self-defined variables2 votes -
Expand the custom marks (.mrk) usability and documentation.
We are able to create custom marks files (.mrk) but I have not found much documentation. Detailed documentation would go a long way especially with a few examples. I would also like an easier way to create these files without so much trial an error (GUI).
I would like to create black only registration, page info and crop marks. Additionally, the ability to adjust spread pages fold marks offset and the ability to create center lines on the pages in the bleed area would be great.

Different footnote styles allowed on a single page
The ability to use different styles of footnotes on a single page (asterisk and numbers) used in footnote styling. ESSENTIAL for academic publishing.

Load Swatches - Add an option to overwrite existing same name swatches
Load Swatches - Add an option to overwrite existing same name swatches, rather than simply renaming the incoming ones. Or an option to rename the existing swatches instead. It amounts to the same thing and would have saved a bit of time on a job I just did.
Why is this text field so small?

on this page
For cross-references, "See figure 12 on page 321" is sort of silly if that text APPEARS on page 321. Wouldn't it be nice to offer an option to have the cross-reference, if the figure's on the same page, say "See figure 12 on this page"?

Table of contents: control space between entry and number
Add a feature to control the amount of space between the entry and number in a table of contents.
At present, soft returns have to be added manually to prevent entry text coming too close to the number. This has to be redone every time the table of contents is updated. (Non-breaking spaces can be used in some instances but they do not always solve the problem.)

Add more Styles (paragraph and character) to the auto Styles pack
I really loved the new Style Pack feature. I spend a lot of time mapping long documents and the Auto feature helped heaps. I know that it is recent, so I am wondering when we would be allowed to add new Styles to create a more complex hierarchy for the documents. Thank you :)

Provide an option to see items in the pasteboard area while the document is set to the preview mode.
I sometimes use the pasteboard to create simple items I want to place in my document later. It would be helpful to be able to access those items without having to switch view modes. Suggesting 3 options - normal, preview, and this one.

Enhance default page transition so it doesn't just "blink" to show the next page
Before the v 18.0 update it was possible to add ?transistion at the end of the url to get a more smooth slide effect when turning pages. But now the pages just blink when clicking to show the next page.
Would be much appreciated if the page turn was more smooth (and even more preferably if there was a choice of different transitions, like page turn effect).

Search QR Codes when Finding/Replacing
I'm not sure if this is categorized correctly, but it would be nice if we are searching to fix text in a document that it also search and replace text that is used in QR codes so they don't get missed and are more easily fixed.

Document info in Indesign hyperlinks
I am implementing a sort of voting system for articles in a magazine (readers can vote wether or not they like an article). This means I have to implement 3 (more if I want a more detailed system) links per article. It would be handy to be able to use document info in the links so I can use this as parameters. Things like "Filename" "Pagenumber" "Section name" would really make this process a lot easier. I could create one set of links with these "parameters" and copy it to any section/Page/document and none of the links would have to be adjusted. At this moment my links look like "https://example.com/votingpage.php?document=Filename&Page=pagenumber&Article=ArticleID&Score=1" and this has to manually adjusted for every item ... and this 3 times (scores vary from -1 to 1 for 3 possible scores). This process could be much easier with document-parameters that can be used in hyperlinks.

Options to enter #firstpage #lastpage in PDF filename
It would be great if you could add the option to add #firstpage and #lastpage to PDF filename. Lots of typographers require that in order to keep publications in order.
I work for a monthly magazine and in our workflow we create single articles that we gather into an InDesign Book. This would avoid the need of renumbering ALL the publication filenames – in case something changes in the articles order of appearance – and rebuild the Book before the PDF creation (I do this via a script by Peter Kahrel that exports the Book as single documents)2 votes -
Ratios of Height to Width
I would like to see ratios of height to width in InDesign similar to Photoshop. In PS, when using the selection marquee or crop tool, you can set the tool to a ratio of height to width. InDesign should have that when making a frame shape and when making a page size. Designing content into frame regions that express a ratio of H x W furthers graceful design.

Make UI Scaling NOT affect document scaling
The recently-added UI Scaling feature also scales the size my document is displayed! Why?? When I type command-1 to view my document at actual size, I expect an 8.5 x 11 page to be that size on the screen. But if I increase the scale of the UI (tools, pallets, etc.) it also increases the "actual size" scaling of my document so it's much bigger than it should be. So, in other words, the UI scaling should NOT affect the scaling of the document rulers; 1" should always be displayed at 1".

Describing the purpose of a link in EPUBs using aria-label
Description
It would be really great if hyperlinks would get an (optional) attribute to describe their purpose, and this being reported in EPUB outputs as values of aria-label attributes.
https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG22/Techniques/aria/ARIA8
Something similar is already in place for alt-text ("Edit Hyperlink..." -> "Accessibility" -> "Alt-Text") which I understand plays a role in PDF outputs.
Why is this valuable to you?
This would bring a GREAT accessibility enhancement in all those occasions where the hyperlink (or the hyperlinked text) does not provide enough context/information to the reader (i.e. when reporting DOI links - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_object_identifier - they almost never offer any info on the resource they link to)
Would this be possible? Thanks!
