Guide feature
I think any feature of guiding new people who are using for the first time will be very helpful.

text anchor symbol easier to see
Double the diameter of the dots in the blue colon symbol used to represent a text anchor. Very hard to see compared with other symbols when "Show Hidden Characters" is turned on. And maybe move them a bit to the left so they're further from the beginning of the text anchor.

One language for the app interface, another for the shortkeys
It would be G R E A T if you could install the english version of InDesign, but use shortcuts for a non english keyboard, since many of the english shortcuts don't work when you use a non english keyboard.
This is actually a problem in all Adobe apps and not just InDesign.
Please don't tell me to switch to ENG in Windows 10 since I want to be able to type in swedish...
And don't tell me to manually go through all shortcuts and change them one by one. I shouldn't have to do that every time I install…

Align operations on selected anchorpoints from different frames
When selection a series of individual anchorpoints from different frames, I would like to be able to perform operations from the align-window (like distribute centers). Thus making it possible to shape a series of frames in one go. I.e. when you would want an angled side to a series of frames.

Revert to original, efficient New Document dialogue box.
An option to revert to the old, more compact and efficient "New Document" window.
There are 8,342 awesome ideas of additions and updates for InDesign on this site, yet someone took the time to make this new interface... If you have used InDesign for more than 1 day you don't need this. It is huge, and inefficient. There used to be an option to revert to this style but it is gone now.
Efficiency is KING in InDesign. If we wanted a clunky, chunky UI we could use a Microsoft product ;-)
Thanks!

finder window in Big Sur doesn't remember size
In Big Sur when I place a file, the finder window that pops up is always the same small size. I have to reposition it to the size I need to find the appropriate folder/files every time. Perviously InDesign would remember the size of this finder pop up window.

Give a button to speed up the video playback when playing the tutorial video in learn panel
When playing tutorial video in learn panel, a speed adjusting button is necessary to comfort both the people with bad English who wants to play the video slowly, and the people who has certain experience and wants to get though the tutorial quicker.

Dialog box for Edit Table of Contents Style should be resizable
The Dialog box for Edit Table of Contents Style should be resizable.
The Other Styles area displays only 4 styles at a time. That's difficult to work with when document has a large number of Styles
Also, it would be helpful if typing a letter when inside the Other Styles area caused a jump in the list to the first style starting with that character

How about a progress bar when relinking images?
I just got back an InDesign document that someone else had edited, and I needed to point it towards my own copies of the links. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure out why InDesign would seemingly crash every time I tried to update the links (it would put up the "Spinning Rainbow Pizza Wheel of Death" cursor and "Force Quit Applications" would say that the program was "not responding.") I finally figured out that it was just taking 10-15 minutes to process all the images in the folder, but not putting up any information or a progess bar.…

Find/Replace Font Capitalize Menu Listing
I think that the word Replace in Find/Replace Font in the Type menu should be capitalized!

Measure Space Between Objects & Margins With a Toggle Key
I'd love to see some of the same measurement tools that have made their way into Adobe XD and Photoshop work in InDesign.
Being able to quickly see the space between objects and margins is great in these tools and I think it would be helpful in InDesign as well.
I know the gap tool has some of this functionality, but I'm specifically looking to recreate the toggle function like holding alt/opt in Adobe XD. Perhaps the gap tool could be modified to have a toggle function to display the measurements in a similar way.

Fixing what was not broken?
Swatches Window:
There is space at the bottom of the swatches menu to have buttons for the swatch types rather than grouping them into drop down menu. It takes more clicks and mousing around than it did in CS versions...Same goes for Rotating spreads. I need to do this often - It used to be in the root of the pages menu, now it's nested under page attributes. Less efficient...
A drop menu at the bottom of the pages window might make sense for this feature?New CC Libraries menu... it looks nicer I guess but now I have…

Toggle to turn off cursor frames and highlighted text when testing colors/fonts/strokes
Note: I'm still on Indesign 2019, so I don't know if this feature has already been added. If not, then:
Whenever I want to test different stroke colors on a picture with a border, I have to select it, which shows as cursor frame on top of the stroke (even in preview mode). Problem with this is that if the stroke is 1 or 2 points, it's hard to see the colors you're choosing because the cursor covers the stroke. So I would have to select the frame, change the color, de-select the frame to see how the stroke looks,…

Enable easy switching between Roman, right to left & Japense feature sets
InDesign can be set to either Roman, right to left & Japense feature sets at time of installation.
Multilingual designers often have to work across multiple languages that range across reature sets.
I suggested to include an option in the settings that easily switches between these feature sets. This information is stored in the Windows Registry and in the applicationpreference.plist file on macOS so hopefully would be relatively easy to implement.

Please provide interface scaling as in Illustrator and Photoshop.
Please provide interface scaling as in Illustrator and Photoshop. On a Mac / Retina display the panels and type is too small to read. Will not work to set the whole system to scaled as I go back and forth from Illustrator and PSD to Indesign, making it even more difficult to use. Thank you.

Use Opt-click for "update all cross references"
In the links panel, opt-click on the update button updates all changed links. It also has a tool tip for doing so. I have been told opt-click is a 'standard' in many Adobe apps. But "update all cross references" is not so easily found. It requires to make sure no cross reference is selected and then click the update button. This is not intuitive and hard to find. Change to opt-click (with tooltip). Check for any other place that an update button exist and unify the UI in the same manner.

CMD/SHIFT scroll speed and direction shortcuts are now broken
It used to be that holding SHIFT and using the mouse wheel increased the scroll speed, and holding CMD changed scroll direction.
Now, holding SHIFT increases scroll speed direction AND changes scroll direction, while CMD still changes the scroll speed.
This means that, previous to the update, if you were scrolling veritcally down your document, you'd scroll normally, and could then hold shift to increase the speed. Whereas now, if you want to increase the scroll speed without changing direction you have to hold CMD as well.
IE - Previously used to work like this:
Scroll Wheel = Vertical Scroll…

Place the close button at the top of all pop up menus (rather than the bottom)
When I open pop up menus in InDesign they are often larger than my screen (see attached pic), and as the close button is at the bottom of all menus, I am unable to click on the close button. I'm forced to change the resolution setting of my desktop in order to be able to view and access the close button, which is very annoying. A quick and easy fix would be to have the close button at the top of each menu instead.

More space for document name when saving
When saving a file, the "save" or "save as" space for giving a name to a document is often too small, as it only fits about 32 characters. 64 characters would be a nice number, so every name would fit without having to scroll.
In our production flow, we have to name our documents with the client number, the project name, the type of visual, the size, the language and, when it's ready to print, the number of copies. Our documents are often between 30 and 50 character long.

Display document size
Similar to photoshop, It would be very useful if you could see your document size on the bottom of InDesign next to the Horizontal Scrollbar.
No need to waste your time going to File>Document Setup
