Bug is still not fixed, two years in.

Preflight reports fonts in linked Illustrator files as having Type 1 fonts, even though the fonts are OpenType. I have successfully replaced all of the Type 1 fonts in the InDesign file, including text styles. Preflight reports 161 font errors, all of which are in linked AI files that use Myriad Pro. When I open the linked AI files, the fonts are OpenType Myriad Pro.

I've been investigating an instance of this same issue for a couple of days, and just now found this thread. I am (along with other members of my department) experiencing the same thing others are reporting in this thread.

InDesign preflight is falsely identifying some OpenType fonts as Type 1, but only when those fonts are in embedded vector drawings (.ai. .pdf, .eps). Using the same fonts natively in InDesign generates no preflight warning.

In a test, I opened one of the Illustrator files that Preflight was identifying as containing Type 1 fonts. I changed one of the offending fonts in the drawing to a different OpenType font (not Type 1) and updated the file in InDesign. Then InDesign's preflight began identifying the new font as Type 1, but it's not.

Converting all text in the illustration to outlines does cause the warning to disappear in InDesign preflight. But again, I feel that the warning is in error. And that introduces a level of complexity to our our workflow as we have hundreds (or thousands?) of illustrations with embedded fonts, used in hundreds of documents.

Yep, 1 year left till Type 1 fonts are gone. Would be nice to have this bug fixed for this last year. I work regularly with a lot of old files and would prefer not to get this false alert.

Please continue to review this. Bug has not been fixed as of November 2021.

This bug has not been fixed in InDesign CC 2021. Given the pending elimination of support for PostScript Type 1 fonts in all Adobe apps, it's even more critical for it to be fixed. Live Preflight must be accurate and able to correctly identify font types.

Perhaps the error may also have to do with Acrobat along with InDesign.
When I open Acrobat and check the font properties of a PDF that used OpenType Type 1 fonts, I find that Acrobat incorrectly lists OpenType Type 1 fonts as Type 1. When I place that PDF into an InDesign document, InDesign’s preflight also incorrectly flags the fonts as Type 1. Could it be InDesign's live preflight is reading the PDFs incorrect font properties?

We've also found that AI files using OpenType Type 1 fonts will be flagged by InDesign as using Type 1 fonts.

Hoping this preflight bug can be resolved so we can get accurate checks on our files.

I'm getting this "Font not allowed" error but with normal (not linked) documents. All of the affected fonts are ones I downloaded from Adobe fonts. But not every font I downloaded, only four.
I'll be happy to send you the InDesign document if you want to look at it.

The issue is that the preflight will flag OpenType Type 1 fonts as Postscript Type 1 fonts when it's reading linked graphics.
