Media Panel is missing all playback settings for MP4 files in InDesign 2020
CC 2020 is missing all its control settings for playing MP4 files in an interactive pdf. Until this year's upgrade you had multiple options on what Controller Functions appeared when playing/displaying MP4's in an Interactive PDF document.
Navigation Points have been re-introduced in the Media panel. This feature is available in the latest release of InDesign (version 16.0). Please use this release to use Navigation Points for Video/Audio files.
However, the Controller options will not be available. As communicated earlier, all options (Controller options being one of them) related to Flash/Flash player have been removed from InDesign as Flash Player is now being EOL’d (End of Life).

Adobe please fix this feature! So helpful for all presenters. Video/pdf should make our work easy.

I'm really struggling with this, I have a university assignment due very soon that relies on having functioning videos in my PDF. I had no idea this feature had stopped working! Can we please have an update on when you expect that this might be fixed?

Holy smoke, Googling to find out why I was missing the navigation points options and I find this thread, dating back to last year, several 'we'll get on this shortly' responses from Adobe, and nothing?! C'mon! This needs to be sorted.

Flash being discontinued has been in Adobe plans for years.
Why did Adobe not think about all the implications this would have for designers?
So no proper video/pdf solution until late 2020?!
Shows how much Adobe actually cares about money vs design : (
Been using Macromedia then Adobe products for 20 years.
Each year I feel more frustrated by their lack of foresight. -

Can't believe you've actually done this </3
Please please put this back. I want the ability to autoplay and loop videos back. This has ruined my workflow for so many things :(

SOLUTION:
We wait Adobe to fixit this. But you can fix this by Adobe Acrobat:
Go on Video -> Right mouse Click -> Property -> Control -> and you can insert controller.
Sorry for my english :)

Adobe, fix this! This is ridiculous.

Why fix something that is not broken. Now this video upload feature is totally useless. The video starts off, you can't stop it, there are no settings ... inadmissible, mainly because it worked ... and I watch comments that are several months old. Totally disappointed

I am using InDesign CC 2020 - 15.0.2 - and I can't even get the placed mp4 video to play in the resulting Interactive PDF. So embedding video and having it play in the PDF is no longer supported at all?? I tried the same with a mov video and that didn't work either!

I am having the same issue. The indispensable controller options available in InDeisng 2019 in the media panel is missing. ONLY Poster option is shown.

Hello,
I have found a solution to this.
Once your interactive PDF is published, open it with Adobe Acrobat pro, right click on the video then 'propriétés' in French, so i guess it will be 'properties' in English, and here you can modify the controller feature under the second tab which is named 'commandes' in French. (See screenshot attached). There are even more features than there used to be in the inDesign panel. Some are very interesting, like stopping the video when changing the page, color of the controllers etc :) -

I don't know why Adobe is making video so hard to use in PDFs. It is very important to a lot of peoples workflows. Please fix this issue. Why would you take away media panel in ID 2020? Video is mainstream! The ability to embed videos into presentations is vital. Please rethink your approach to include the best video functionality possible in all of your applications.

The non updating/distributing of Flash is effective as of December 31, 2020 – ten months away and will change the Media Controller of ID2021.
In the interim, we have 10 months of a non-working ID2020 Media Controller!
What a mess.....

The answer I just got from Adobe chat support
"I would like to inform you, that Adobe decides to stop updating and distributing the Flash Player. To follow this decision, InDesign removed the support for placing, importing, exporting, and linking Flash files, such as .FLV, .F4V, and .SWF. The removal of Flash formats required some user-interface changes, where options related to Flash formats are removed."
They don't seem to care that they broke this without having anything in place to replace it.

Unless I'm missing something, Media Panel does not work for MP3 files in Interactive documents.
