Allow password-protected hosting, and hosting from a non-Adobe server
These two features would go a LONG way to making Publish Online a viable format for professional publishing. I'm sure many clients would pay an extra fee (nothing outrageous) for a self-hosted solution, if that would be necessary for Adobe to commit resources to make this happen.
Password protection of Publish Online documents is available, starting with InDesign 19.4 version.

I just tried using the Review share option and people are saying they need a password to access the link. I don't see how to create a password and it's very aggravating when I thought I could just share them a link.

Please to announce we've launched the capability to publish a private review for feedback in the latest version of InDesign (15.1). Let us know what you think!

Absolutely agree this coupled with the lack of being able to turn off the ridiculous publish online button on embedded ePubs is actually starting to loose me business. Why would Adobe think anyone of my clients would want to advertise an indesign product?

I just got right to the end of a long project and the client is suddenly worried about protecting the final document (for good reason). Now I'm scrambling to find a way to reproduce the whole project with password protection. Right now I'm at a giant un-emailable PDF without all the animations. Very frustrating!!!

Provide the option to password protect documents published online through Indesign....WHY? Because, often designers (in any industry) need to send proposals of prototypes or designs to suppliers and producers and the information inside is sensitive and strictly confidential. The Adobe InDesign publish online feature is a great way to distribute online pdf presentations to people quickly, however, the no password protection option lets it down. Other platforms, such as Vimeo, allow you to publish content that is private....so should Adobe Indesign.

This would be a great feature and enable businesses to publish documents online whilst maintaining privacy and security for their clients.

Hello, Any traction on this? The last word from Adobe was almost one year ago to the day. Did I miss something? Thank you. @abhinavagarwal

Protect the presentations on PublishOnline with a password. Within a company it's often required to send password-protected presentations.

Just wanting to personally add a +1 comment vote to this as it doesnt seem to have gotten much traction (but does have the most votes)
Has there been any movement on this @Abhinav Argarwal this year?

We need to use publish online for reviews. So the link created needs to be private so only the intended viewer / reviewer can have access to the document or only people that receive invitation.
Is there any other way to share publications for review through cloud where links will be private and viewed only by their intended recipients? Sharing PDF through Acrobat has the same limitation in link sharing.

Is this idea under consideration? Adobe XD added Password-protected prototypes. It seems like almost the exact feature that I believed is being requested here for InDesign. I currently have two active clients who have rejected using Adobe InDesign published documents due to the lack of this exact feature. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if this is even under consideration.

Whatever the advantages to the service, my organisation will not use Publish Online until we can host on our own servers or one maintained by one of our contracted suppliers.

Separating this from hosted service, because I suspect moving to a hosted service is a bit more complicated. Having password protection would help folks monetize published documents and be a step toward security.

Password protection would be a good start!
