Idea to create a simpler way to type on path with ellipse / circle
I wish you could create a better and simpler way to type on path, especially on ellipses / circles. It's SUPER difficult when you have to work with multiple lines in a circle, like we used to on a CD for example.
My pitch:
What if we could treat typing on path like a text box? So you draw the ellipse / shape from the Type on Path menu, and the text automatically gets treated as if Typing on a line / shape?
And when you press Return, it behaves like it would in a paragraph (text going to the…2 votes -
spell check printable area only
Users should be able to spell check printable area only—what's actually on the pages, not in the workspace to the sides.

Ability to include anchored objects in paragraph styles
It would be useful to integrate images into paragraph styles and immediately attach an object style to it. The result would be that by selecting a paragraph style, an image (icon etc.) would be added at the desired location (as set in the object style). This would offer many opportunities to make formatting faster and more efficient.

Paragraph styles frustrations
When creating a paragraph style from an existing one, please let InDesign automatically select the new one to edit, or at least let it retain the adjustments we made to the existing one. Because many times I edit the styling of text, then make a new paragraph style, only to find out I was still styling on the previous style, and not "New Paragraph 1."
OR
Let us be able to highlight the paragraph style we want to redefine, without applying the style to the text.
Sometimes all we want is to highlight copy in the document, and right-click on…

Add ability to convert a cross-document shared destination hyperlink to a regular URL without losing/re-entering the link
FEATURE REQUEST
In order to help avoid broken and/or inadvertent cross-document shared links, please:
Add a function to the Edit Hyperlink dialog to CONVERT a hyperlink url currently shared from another document into a normal self-sufficient url unlinked from the source document. (Currently, making this change to a hyperlink requires the user to change the selection in the "Link To:" dropdown menu from "Shared Destination" to "URL" which clears the previous the URL, and then hunt down the source URL and manually re-input it.)
Add the ability to apply this conversion to multiple selected hyperlinks at one time from the…

Book numbering options in one panel
Please streamline book numbering options into one panel. It's beyond aggravating to go from Layout -> Numbering & Section Options, then to the Book Panel -> Update Numbering and fumble around with that until you get it right. If the suggested panel had a "Preview" box as well, you could preview your changes until you get your desired result.

Text "before" and "after" user-definded variables
Text variables
For "User defined text" also allow to define "Text before..." and "Text after..." as it is possible for the predefined variables (like "Output date").
We often need pre- and post-text for self-defined variables2 votes -
on this page
For cross-references, "See figure 12 on page 321" is sort of silly if that text APPEARS on page 321. Wouldn't it be nice to offer an option to have the cross-reference, if the figure's on the same page, say "See figure 12 on this page"?

Table of contents: control space between entry and number
Add a feature to control the amount of space between the entry and number in a table of contents.
At present, soft returns have to be added manually to prevent entry text coming too close to the number. This has to be redone every time the table of contents is updated. (Non-breaking spaces can be used in some instances but they do not always solve the problem.)

Phonetic guide
Hello, please add an option for phonetic guides like in Word. This will help make textbooks and learning materials for languages that don't use the Latin script, such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, and so on. Thank you.

Option to Restart Number Lists by Default
As it says on the tin, an option is needed to restart number lists by default. There shouldn't have to be an extra step to restart numbering for every single list and there shouldn't be any need for the convoluted workarounds that there are out there.

left to right (LTR) text option in indesign 17.2.1.
I don't find the left to right (LTR) text option in indesign 17.2.1. Do you know why? I work with multilanguages and I must have the option to change the direction of the texts (arab-english). In previous versions I had that option but now I don't. Do you know how to do now, please?

Always fill the type area
Please give us an option to always fill the type area. When setting up books like novels many customers want the type area to be filled up to the last line. But setting up the text wrap to avoid widows and orphans often leads to blank lines at the bottom of the type area. Normally we try to get around this by increasing or decreasing text spacing or scaling a bit to save or generate an additional line. It would be wonderful to have an option that brings InDesign to always try to fill the type area.

Request for adding Mongolian language spelling dictionary
Hello,
Of course, there are many users from Mongolia, but we can't use our native language spelling dictionary in Indesign. And I want to add a Mongolian language spelling dictionary to Indesign. I've attached the Hunspell dictionary file with the hyphenation file. Hope every Mongolian will be using a Mongolian spelling dictionary within Indesign soon. Thank you!
You can find the Hunspell dictionary from these links:

Smart Object typography in Photoshop Be Editable in InDesign
I work in sports so I have create schedule graphics. I love to format the text in InDesign and paste it into Photoshop as a smart object to build out my digital graphics but when I need to edit that smart object it kicks me into Illustrator to edit the text. I would love to be able to edit the smart object typography in InDesign where it was originally created.
(My work around has been to edit the text in InDesign and just re-paste into Illustrator.)

Adjust text in frame to the right
Text tool. If you have too much text for a text frame with a small amount of text (e.g. 1-10 words), the text frame should enlarge to the right instead of downwards by using the keyboard command cmd+alt+c.
It would improve the workflow significantly, since you don't always have to drag the text box "right" again afterwards.2 votes -
Layered Fonts
Please do provide a tool to implement layered fonts. The tool would need to:
- be able to automatically superimpose different layers of a font with different styles (color etc.) in the same place, or in a slight interval to create a shadow-effect
- be applicable to initials (as this is a very common use for layered fonts)2 votes -
Change colour of text dependent on immediate background colour
Some of my jobs involve text being placed on a background image or company logo. Often,, this background has wildly contrasting colours/shades and the text immediately in front of it becomes invisible. I then change the colour of that text from, say, black to white, to render it visible again.
Unfortunately, if there are then any amendments to the text, the white text now lies over a light background and becomes invisible. Currently, I just go over the text with a beady eye and make the amendments accordingly.
Is it, would it, be possible for there to be a script,…2 votes -
Tracking: highlight tight and loose lines with two colours
I typeset books and it is often useful to see at a glance where text can be tweaked in order to make or lose a line. Having two colours would make it much quicker and easier to identify affected lines. Being able to modify the colours would be a bonus.
