Flipped Images in Pre-Flight
I'd like to add "flipped image" to the pre-flight process.
I've recently had to scour a product catalog for flipped images because a junior designer didn't realize that flipping images mis-represented the non-symmetrical producs. It should be something that pre-flight draws attention to as a potential error, similar to non-proportional scaling.
I was able to install an obscure script that looked for both flipped frames and flipped image content and made a list for you - it was a lifesaver!1 vote -
Package convert images to specific format
For architects, urban designers, and artists, InDesign has become an essential tool. However, our needs differ from those of graphic designers, introducing unique challenges. We often maintain specific folder structures for original files, repurposing them for various mediums - be it print, websites, or emails. For instance, when delivering a poster, it's inefficient to include large PSD images in both the 'links' folder and another location. Notably, for academic submissions, recipients often don't require layered files; they need images suitable for websites, emails, etc. Considering that most competition or submission layouts remain static after submission, a "convert images to a…

Path to images in linked InDesign documents not adjusted when packaged
I have packaged an InDesign document with linked InDesign documents for the printer. The images inside the packaged InDesign files have the wrong path, it has not been adjusted to the packaged images.
Our printer has printed the product therefor without the linked images which is a desaster. Please fix linked image paths within linked InDesign documents.

Duplex options in print dialog
I would like to be able to set duplex on / off and flip direction in the print dialog.
How it is currently setup, I have to change the printer, click "Setup..." which gives a warning about settings conflicts, click "OK", change the printer again (because I'm not using the default), scroll down to "More Settings", click "More Settings", navigate the HP print settings to adjust duplex settings, click "ok", click "print"
I would like the duplex settings brought out to the main print dialog because going through about 10 steps to change 2 settings is a huge waste of…

Leave links in the CC library when packaging a document.
Many of my links in my InDesign documents point to a shared CC library. So that I don't have to resend all the data when I package the document, it would be good to have a function that leaves the links of the document in the CC library and only collects the images that are not in the CC library.

Preflight: option to check document text only (not in linked graphics)
Hi, I would appreciate to be able to determine whether or not the Preflight profile marks errors found in linked graphic files, rather than in the document itself. (For example, when a linked graphics file uses fonts that are flagged as 'not allowed', it might still be reproduced well while the same error is likely to be important when it occurs in a text included in the .INDD file itself.).
I'm mainly thinking of text-related errors like invalid or missing fonts. For controlling this, the current TEXT options could just be duplicated into "Document Text" and "Text in linked graphics".…1 vote -
Have a more helpful errror message for when idesign cannot package the file.
Currently the error message displayed just says 'InDesign could not package the document "____". Cannot copy necessary linked file(s). This is super unhelpful when I have hundreds of links in my document and am given no hints as to which file is the issue or what the issue is. As a result I'm left stabbing in the dark trying to work out what the problem might be amongst hundreds of files.

Ink Alias with a already used Spot but at a Percentage
In designing a calendar, it would be preferable to design for multiple colors initially, and then if the customer wants 1 color instead, i can substitute the various colors for instead the picked spot, but at a different Tint Percentage. I can already create a swatch of the spot @ XX%, but now i want to replace "SetupGreen" with 60% 286, and "SetupOrange" with 20% 286, for example. And at the end I still want to output this one spot color, but the design now sets those elements to the ink density of that spot color.

Preflight to list Font type used in file.
Please make InDesign Preflight list the type of font missing (Adobe font, ttf, otf). We are a Prepress company and when preflighting jobs, we flag to the customer that a font is missing, but is available in Adobe Fonts. If we just activate the Adobe font, it could be the wrong type. A lot of the times the client has forgotten to send the font (otf, ttf).
An example of this is Adobe Caslon Pro Italic. My file is using the otf type, but InDesign is telling me it is available on Adobe Fonts. If I just activated the Adobe…

Make PDF preset selection permanent
When packaging files, keep the "select PDF preset" from changing to whatever preset was used last in Indesign. When I package, I always use the same settings, but that PDF preset changes based on the setting I used when just creating a proof from Indesign. I'd love to have a preset that allowed me to create two PDFs -- when I package, I make crops and no crops versions. Would be a big timesaver -- to at least keep that preset the same for packaging and then to create two versions.

Packaging working file PSD's as well when packaging up files.
I often find that when opening up packaged files from others, I find myself wishing they had also included the layered PSD's for the images. These are not included if the InDesign file only uses flat jpeg versions. It would be amazing if when packaging up a file, it could also include the layered PSD

color profile black listing and/or whitelisting in preflight
Not everything that is RGB is bad in today's print publishing. While we certainly don't want to use sRGB images if we can avoid it, there are some good options for color spaces in media-neutral design workflows (e.g. eciRGB, Adobe RGB).
Being warned that certain undesirable color profiles are being used in linked images, and skipping those that are considered okay, should improve any modern desktop publishing workflow.
A "missing/no profile" option should also be included, as these cases completely defeat the purpose of color management workflows.1 vote -

Improved spot colour assignment
You've introduced 'useful' cloud sharing features and project integration over the last few versions but would it be possible to make assigning spot colours or custom colours easier across InDesign, illustrator and Photoshop? I waste so much time switching back and forth across apps, trying to set up the correct colour information ready for print. It's still so convoluted and always feels like I'm fudging my artwork. I end up resorting to changing all spot elements to 100% Black and creating a separate page. That's not intuitive or helpful, that's just winging it.

Arc or Warp feature for conical label designs
Please include warp features in Indesign so that labels for conical and tapered shapes can be created easily on an arc. The ability to create a curved template via inputting the top and bottom circumference of a cone should also be included so that curves can be customised. If this is not possible then possibly a PDF warp feature of exported flat designs from indesign would be useful. At present 3rd party software or plugins that offer this functionality (similar to Studio by Esko) are very expensive.
Thanks, Justin

MAKE PACKAGE FEATURE USE ORIGINAL LOCATION AS ITS ROOT.
I would like the PACKAGE feature to default to the ORIGINAL location of the file. Rather than having to hunt around when I chose PACKAGE. I have many projects to package, and often when i choose PACKAGE FILES it will default to some previously-referenced folder—often completely different folder/location. Its a nuisance. Causes issues.

Visual indicator RGB print document - large format inkjet printing AND easier creation of RGB doc
Making it easier to have an RGB file for printing to a large format inkjet?
(only saying inkjet made me think of a consumer product).
Current option for creating a document is for presswork --
Have to change the transparency blend space to RGB to take advantage of the larger color space available with the extra inks there.MAYBE
The top bar that is above the document frame (has the home button in the corner) Can that be a different color to indicate if you are in a CMYK or RGB blend space? You already know the color issues if…

Let Crop Mark offset reflect Bleed size by default
When exporting a .pdf, I find myself correcting that value over and over.
In most cases we want the cropmarks not to overlap the bleed, because that would make the bleed useless.e.g: I set Bleed to 3mm, but the Crop Mark offset stays 2,117mm
Please let InDesign copy the Bleed value to the Crop Mark Offset value automatically.

Print Layout Stacking (as it is in CorelDRAW)
Imposition control from the Print dialog box (as it is in CorelDRAW) would be a massive time saver for those of us in print shops. I am an Adobe user in a Corel shop and I've been (slowly) working on converting them to Adobe, but this is one feature that keeps the owner going back to Corel for most everything he designs, simply because of the imposition features.
I'm sure everyone would be happy with this feature.
