  1. SimpleWideShort Stoke start/End

A new start/End point for stokes being like the simplewide one, but being shorter, it's a needed feature when add technical measure to a illustration that was made out side of indesign. These technical drawing have some very small parts, and having a shorter simplewide point would be a great help, also changing scale is no help because I want the stroke width to remain the same.

  3. Using local alphabets in Numering Style Format (Paragraph Styles)

We have only two character formats "A, B, C, D ..." and "a, b, c, d ..." except digital. But many of us work with texts in languages with other alphabets, which are also used as indexes of lists. It would be nice to have formats of local alphabets depending on the language chosen for the paragraph. For example, if the Russian language is selected for the paragraph, then in the list of character formats, except the Latin alphabet, there will be a Russian "А, Б, В, Г..."
This property should not depend on whether the localized or English version…

  4. Add cell width and heigth to table (or cell) styles

Very often I use tables in multiple pages taht need to have the same dimensions. Being able to do that in Styles would be priceless.

  5. GREP styles as stand-alone named styles

I use GREP styles a lot, and they are very convenient! But I often have to use the same GREP styles in different paragraph styles. Sometimes they consist of rather complex long expressions, and their transfer to another publication becomes difficult and time-consuming. GREP styles should be placed in a separate list, similar to the other stylesheets, and each of them must have its own name, with which they can be included in the paragraph style.

  6. Object Styles for Generated Captions

It would be really helpful when generating captions to be able to assign an object style in addition to a paragraph style. (Even better if there were multiple caption styles to choose from...)

  7. Easier crosschecking, resetting and copying throughout all styles

We are working with at least ten different paragraph styles per document. If there are changes to be made in the CIs we have to check every single style: Opening up the Paragraph Style Options window, changing, closing, next style, reapeat... forgetting something and opening all windows again to check.
-> How about a button in the Paragraph Style Options window to jump to the previous or next style in the list? (might be useful to every kind of Style Option window)

In the Paragraph Style Options window there is a Reset to Base button only under General.
    -> I…

  8. I'd like to see opacity in the options for Paragraph Shade

Next to Tint I naturally looked for opacity, my thought was if I can change tint I can change opacity as well. Thanks.

  9. Add lowercase, Title, and Toggle to Case in style definition options

When defining a style, under Basic Character Formats, it would be very helpful to force lowercase! (And also add Title and Toggle case options so all case possibilities are present)

This is especially needed when replacing acronyms (usually typed in all-caps in manuscripts) with the appropriate small caps. It is very time consuming to manually retype all-caps acronyms in lowercase, then apply small caps character styling to it!

Try doing this for a 300-page book....you'll want to cut your eyes out.

  10. A check box to Remove Local Formatting in an auto TOC.

You include a checkbox to Remove Forced Line Breaks in the text styles used for the auto TOC so why not one to Remove Local Formatting so the text style can display exactly the way you set it in the TOC styles dialogue. Now one must select all the text and set Character Style to None every time the TOC is updated which is inefficient. Thanks.

  11. Checkbox to change style of linked object

I would like to use/export interactive PDF, which would allow user to check the checkbox next to object. Upon checking, the object hidden style would become visible.

For example: I have PDF with multiple images of cars. When I check the checkbox near the image of car, that image will be overlayed with green transparent effect to show this car has been selected.

I would like to have this feature available for my collection overview and to see the visual feedback of all collected objects would be satisfying for me.

  12. add effects to paragraph shading/frame

This CC 2018 Update is fantastic!

    1. The only thing I am missing is the lack of possibility to add effects like shadows, on paragraph shadings and frames.

    2. This would be extremely helpful for a heavy-graphical CI, where text - spanning over more than one column or frame - must be underlaid with shadowed frames. Actually, when page breaks are to be corrected, I have to adjust those background frames manually, which is quite time-consuming.

  13. Character Style contestual to Paragraph Style

Suppose you have a text, for example an introduction, with some word (i.e. titles) in Italic in it. Now you decide that this text must be in Italic. So, all the titles in it that were in Italic must be in plain.
In CSS this is easy to do; you'll have something like span.title { font-style: italic; } with the variant p.intro span.title { font-style: normal; }.
I think it's a necessity quite frequent. In other similar scenario you may have to use different colors, different weights.

  14. Allow Adjacent Bordered Paragraphs to Share Their Border

It's great that Paragraph Borders are now included but it really needs an option to "Connect Border to Adjacent Paragraphs Sharing the Same Style" so that the border runs around multiple paragraphs if needed. I know you can work around this with forced line breaks and empty lines but that jars with me and doesn't give me proper style sheet control.

  15. Bullets and numbering - background or box

When applying a character style in the bullets and numbering tab, all characteristics are applied except for underline/strikethrough options. I noticed that this has been mentioned several times over the years but has not been changed as of CC 12.0.0.81.

If this is impossible to fix, is it then perhaps possible to implement an option to add a background to bullets or numbering, similar to the paragraph rule, which allows for offset, indentation etc.

  16. Improve override & "mixed overrides" notice on paragraph styles: give useful info

If a paragraph has some override(s) in it that do not affect the entire paragraph, you'll see the little paragraph symbol at the bottom of the panel light up. This tells you there's an override. No + sign will appear next to the paragraph style name, though, unless the cursor happens to be in text that has the override. For example, if one word is in italics but your cursor is elsewhere in the paragraph, you don't have any way to know what the override is. If you select the entire paragraph, the + appears, but when you hover over…

  17. Ad the possibility to have Paragraph Style add a break before or after

In many cases, I want a break after or before a Paragraph with a certain style. e.g.: a chapter heading often needs a Page Break before.
How convenient would it be when this is integrated in a Paragraph Style!

  18. Allow object style to set the size of an object

One of my ongoing projects is design and layout of a scientific journal with 2 column pages. Columns are 264pt wide, and every issue has hundreds of images that have to be 264 pts wide. They all have the same object style applied. If it could specify their width and cause them to be resized as soon as I apply the style, it would save me a ton of time and repetition.

  19. Border also as character style instead of only paragraph style

Title describes itself. I would like to have the ability to "span" one or more characters instead of a whole paragraph and assign a border to them. Just like I'm able to do with css
