Remove (or give option to remove) font information from Contextual Properties style dropdown
The font name/weight/size information now included in the properties dropdown adds a lot of visual clutter without being particularly useful for finding desired styles.
For example, in a typical document I have multiple styles that all use the same font name/weight/size, but differ greatly in other settings-- some are bullets, some have an inset, some have specific nested styles, etc etc. THAT'S what's important about them, not the fact that they share a font name/weight/size.
In addition, because the style name and the style attributes are shown in the same font size/weight in the menu, it's harder to scan down…

Autocomplete style names typed into styles dropdown in properties window
The new contextual properties window would be much handier if the dropdown window had an autocomplete ability similar to what's currently available in the Quick Apply window. The current implementation doesn't save any time, as you still have to navigate through the various options to find the one you want-- something I find more challenging to do thanks to the additional clutter of the font name/weight/point size being included in the dropdown.

Allow key bindings, shorcuts and function changes for mice
Similar yet from different worlds, AutoCAD is easy to navigate a layout by zooming in and out with the mouse wheel to where the curser is pointed, as well as to pan by clicking and holding the middle mouse button. Is there a way to do this already? However, it seems that InDesign only allows binding of Keyboard shortcuts. Mouse-bindings can further reduce stress and fatigue when working on documents for extended periods of (Coming from a Civil Drafter of 7yrs). It can also improve the speed of work completed by allowing the user to more fully tailor the InDesign…

The current Adobe InDesign CC workspace windows / palettes won't expand or aren't visible. I have to uninstall and reinstall to get them back and working. Please advise a fix? Or is this going to be fixed in the next app update? Thanks!

Make index 'New Page Reference' box resizable
When creating an index, in order to provide any sort of categorisation, you have to use the 'New Page Reference' box, where you can add multiple categories, See [also], etc.
Currently this box is a fixed size, which makes reusing existing entries (for consistency) very painful, as it involves a lot of scrolling and opening of previous categories (as the categories are collapsed by default every time it's used.
My suggestion would be to make this box both resizable and that it remembers which categories have been expanded previously - for bonus points, it would be great if is remembered…

Add Ligature Manager Palette
In order to enable the user of ID to enable or disable one or more discretionary or standard ligature(s) in a document, because unicode and opentype technologies provided font designers with the excellent tools to make very complex fonts. Also in Character palette, the ligatures enabling or disabling has no shorcut command, (I still use CS3), so would you add customization palette to all Adobe Products?

I am not sure what category this would fall into. It would be great to add a feature (that would appear as an align or paragraph tab) that would allow me to jot down notes or copy & paste without bringing on any outside formatting so that I can easily copy and paste into the fields and the onto multiple pages or files I am working on.

Layers Panel: Content auto-contract or stay expanded choice
I can't see that this is an option at present, but I get really fed up with constantly having to re-expand content layers and groups in the Layers Panel. They seem to auto-contract if I move from one document to another and back again. Is it not possible to have this feature as an option so that the user can select whether a documents layers remain expanded or not?

Use spine as origin by default
By default the origin of the spread is to the upper left. This makes symmetrical placement with exact numbers quite awkward as you have to manually add and subtract the page width. There is already a setting for using the spine as origin, but in my view this is the sensible default value. I can't really think of any reason why you'd want to define coordinates on the right page from the outer corner of the left page. An origin that lies symmetrically where the pages meet makes so much more sense to me.

color panel bug in ID CC 2018: the panel doesn't display colors, it's empty. It's not possible to add a new color to the panel. I can add colors only to CC libraries. My OS is high Sierra 10.13.4

Either copywriting or translation need to be watched
This message is about idiomatic usages in the interfaces of Adobe products and their mistranslations into other languages.
When those mistranslations don't cause inadequacy in the Adobe software's useability by professionals because they guess what it meant in the interface, professionals just make fun of them and pass them by.
But when they can't guess what it meant in the interface, Adobe lose credit because some features of the Adobe software is not known by professionals.

Have a modal window or panel where all alt text can be seen and edited at once
Can we have a way to open some sort of modal window that then allows us to see all alt text for images/graphics etc so that we can quickly edit all alt tags within a document in one place? It's time consuming having to select each image throughout the document and edit individually.
It would also be useful to have a preflight check for alt tags within InDesign.

New Create New document dialog box variables
I'd like to see the variable labels in the new Create New Document dialog box In InDesign made active so that when you click on them ID selects the current value for you to change; i.e., I'd like to see them work as most all the other entry fields work. This is a real time saver and I'm always telling my students to use this feature, not click inside a field and swipe over/highlight existing value....

Please allow cursor colour change option from black to white.
Please allow cursor colour change option as sometimes black is not visible on dark graphics work. This is in particular for the selection too which comes in black only as a dafault

OpenType-"O" on textframes: More a viewing-option than in preference
As an element on my image/text-frames I would expect this OpenType feature to turn on/off in the "Viewing-options » Extras" like corner-effects or link status, tho its an advanced input.

I would like to see custom panel layouts carried across when you upgrade to a newer version. It is rather frustrating and counterproductive to have to set them up each time you upgrade. Not to mention it often takes a few days of moving things and showing panels before you get it back to what you remember

Mute ruler contrast to reduce UI clutter
Just a small idea, but would it be possible to reduce the contrast in the ruler markings slightly. There's a lot going on in the ID UI and reducing the contrast of the ruler markings to remain in the window's inactive state color - light gray - even when in active state greatly reduces the amount of noise onscreen. Would also make the dashed cursor position indicators easier to spot (currently they're impossible to see amidst the high contrast markings).
