Handling hundreds of links per page
When an index or end reference pages (normally jumps to pages) have hundreds of links then opening and closing the link dialogue box is a bit of a slowdown. There should be a live toolbar/dialogue box that can update live as you select each link (an overlay box normally used). This way you could drop boxes on top of each page number/chapter, then quickly hop from one to the next and change each one.

Hover over panels to expand them and let them collapse automatically
Hi
When working on a single (and small) monitor setup I am constantly collapsing and moving the panels of Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator because that specific panel is hidden behind another expanded panel. This should fix that problem and should save me multiple clicks:
The option to expand panels when hovering over the panel's icon and auto-collapse them when the mouse leaves the expanded panel. The workspace stays clean that way and I don't need to constantly close unused panels.2 votes -

Application Menu Search (Windows)
I know this is an operating system thing, but after switching to Windows from Mac, I'm missing the search bar under the Help menu. I made a suggestion on the Windows Feedback Hub, but it doesn't seem to be getting much traction there. Unless I'm missing something, there's got to be others of you missing this functionality. Here's a link to my Windows Feedback Hub request. Go there and upvote! https://aka.ms/AAdvidk

Smooth trackpad two finger scrolling
Smooth trackpad two finger scrolling. Using Macbook Pro with m1. Currently, scrolling two fingers via trackpad is laggy. Wish it was as smooth as scrolling while using the hand tool.

Iibraries panel back link
The libraries panel is shaky on a 4K monitor - it's slow to load and there are display quirks galore.
But that's not what I want to mention.
The arrow to go back to all libraries is a link but the title of the library - which appears directly to the right - is not a link.

Allow Disabling of Zoom to Selection *in InDesign*
Problem:
Right now if you have an object select and use the +/- keys to zoom in and out, the view is centred in on the selected object.Use Case:
Sometimes I have objects selected as I am trying to maneuver them into the best position and need to zoom in and out of the pasteboard to see how the layout is affected. For objects at the edge of the pasteboard, the current behaviours doesn't allow me to keep the page centred as it keep jumping to centre the selected object instead while using the +/- keys.Solution:

Tab key to navigate through text fields only
In dialog boxes, pressing the tab key should only navigate between text fields. It used to do this. Now it navigates through every field, button and popup menu. There is a system keyboard setting that regulates this. InDesign now ignores this setting.
For example, in the New Document box, press the tab key repeatedly and it goes:
Facing Pages > Start Page # > Primary Text Frame > Page Size > Width ...and so on.
It should only go:
Start Page # > Width ...all those other buttons etc should be skipped.

Don't automatically change view/zoom when editing layer visibility of linked graphics
Editing the layer visibility of a linked graphic in InDesign causes the zoom level to be automatically adjusted to fit-to-page. This makes it difficult to see the preview image for small graphics that may be hard to see at the full page zoom level.
If any automatic zoom adjustment is to be made at all (which it should not) it should be to fit the graphic to the window so you can see what you are doing.

Adjust scroll amount on zoom
Currently when scrolling with the mouse-wheel/trackpad etc, InDesign seems to apply the same amount of scrolling regardless of the level of zoom in the document. This means that a very small scroll gesture, when zoomed in close on a page, causes the document move too far, making scrolling and panning very difficult at high zoom levels.
It would be great if the scroll amount would scale with the level of zoom, so that a small scroll gesture used at a high level of magnification would only result in a small scroll/pan amount.

Drop unit when clicking property fields
For example, if I click on Font Size when it says 10 pt, it should automatically drop the 'pt' before I start typing. Retyping the value is always faster than trying to move the insertion point and highlighting only the numbers to avoid getting an "invalid value" message because you accidentally typed over the 'p' in 'pt'. Else you have to always double-click the field, but sometimes that fails to highlight everything for one reason or another. There's no real use case for leaving the unit in the box when entering a value I've ever encountered.

Mention the layer at the bottom of the window or in the Control Panel
You have to open the Layer Panel to check what layer you're working on. It would be a time saver if the active layer is mentioned somewhere else in the UI.

Open Current File Location
It would be amazing if you add Open Current File Location under the "File" dropdown.
It is a really minor thing, but it would significantly impact productivity.

Option to tint pasteboard ...
Match pasteboard to theme is fine, but it would be helpful to be able to tint the pasteboard.

Unresolved cross references need to be detected as errors
If a document contains unresolved cross-references, InDesign should register them as errors that show up at the bottom of the main window, with specifics listed in the Preflight window. At present, InDesign will notify me of the existence of unresolved cross-references when I start to print a file or book, and it will identify which files contain them, but it won't show me where to find them so I can fix them.
