Show error when paragraph composer cannot render lines
All too often, I run into text that doesn't render because of some feature of the text (unsure of all cases, but examples are words that exceed the line length, common in some languages and in URLs). Make it possible to lock down or freeze all kinds of text wraps made by detect edges
It would be great if there was a way to “freeze” all kinds of text wrap made by detecting edges in a document, or in other words to make them static, so they stop changing with the image. If the designer uses the final image, everything is fine. The problems arise when a print service provider has to make adjustments to the images prior to printing, such as changing color profiles, converting or correcting colors, downsampling, or replacing the designer’s lores versions with hires. Select/Move Multiple Tabs in the Tabs Window
I don't think I'm asking for anything spectacular. I agree the Tabs interface isn't the best but, one thing that would make it much more tolerable would be, what I think, would be a simple change. Can we shift or ctrl click multiple tabs in the same section to slide all of them together please? Having to re-adjust all tabs on a line just because #1 or #2 need to shift to the right seems like a crazy oversight in functionality. Not to mention a time consuming and frustrating one. I use single-line composer all the time, to control text into spaces. But every time I have to manually change a paragraph in the paragraph window, dropdown, select.... I'd love a shortcut for this (have tried allocating one but can't)

Own individual font/type/characters categories
I think everybody has a large font libary. It would be great if we could make own individual tags or categories (groups) to organise the font library.
For Example:
"Project xyz" (5 types/fonts)
"Fresh" (..10 types..)

Required Font Usage Pallet In Floatting with adjustable size
The Font Usage or Find/Replace Font windows need to be redesigned as like link panel. This existing window/dialogue box is not user friendly.
List of issues which has to be addressed:
The windows is not sizable, so if we have a font with lengthy name, then some characters will be hidden at the end.
We can only view 7 fonts at a time, so if a document uses more that this count. We need to scroll for long way and which is a tedious task. That portion of window should be sizable as like link pallet.

More text formatting controls needed in Buttons & Forms Text Field)
Why are there so few controls for text formatting within the PDF Options panel of the Buttons and Forms panel (e.g. centering text within a Text Field, leading, kerning, Vertical and Horizontal Scaling etc.) than are available in the main InDesign application? Importance: the lack of text control when creating interactive pdf forms in the Buttons and Forms panel means that when text is added to a text fields, the result is a very unprofessional looking result when users type responses into the form.

Make possible formatting with Grep the value of variable /dynamic element style
For example: set paragraph style for number page and use Grep associated to a character style to change the color of a specific pages (i.e. page 2, 5 and 7) .

automatic numbering according to the position in the dokument
The automatic numbering by means of a list should have the following function:
Numbering according to position in the document
That means for example, the numbering is done in ascending order from top to bottom and from left to right.
At the moment the numbering only follows in the order in which it was inserted. This is very inflexible, especially when adding images with associated numbered labels.1 vote -
Hyperlink Window Add-on Feature
I know i'm not the only one who uses the typography workspace. But when creating an interactive PDF or E-Catalog of sorts hyperlinks can be one of the finest features. The problem: editing said hyperlinks. Not the editing of the links themselves but the fact that in order to we have to have our type cursor in or on the link. What about adding a button in the hyperlink window to speed up workflow for individuals who use the hyperlinks exclusively?

sort paragraph styles
I'd like to have the option to sort paragraph styles by alphanumeric sequence. That would make it much easier to find the right styles after importing them from multiple documents.

"Font Exceptions Table"
I seem to recall that years ago, Pagemaker had a feature called "Font Exceptions Table" (or something like that, or maybe it was Ventura Publisher). It would allow you to tell PM; "Whenever a text file calls for font A, always replace it with font B." It essentially created a preference file, a table of fonts and their preferred replacement fonts. Hoping for such a feature in InDesign. Example: I produce a periodical newsletter with Optima as the font for the body text. My customer sends me Word and Excel files in which they have used an old TTF font…

Enable relative searches, e.g. 'point size more than 10 pts' or 'space before less than 6 pts'
You can use the Find Text and Find Grep features to look for certain constant values, e.g 'point size 12 pts', 'tracking 75', 'space before 6 pts'.
But it's not possible to search for relative values, e.g. 'point size less than 12pts'. And it's not possible to do negative, e.g. search for certain text in paragraphs that do not have a certain paragraph style applied.
These features would make it much easier to find text with missing or incorrectly applied formatting, and generally would mean that the search scope can be specified more flexibly, which in turn means that InDesign's…
