    Its still the same in ID 2021. Until Adobe fix this, a workaround. Copy existing cross reference, paste to desired location and edit CR. Dialog opens at once (if you not using All Pharagraphs when creating copied CR).
    Not the fastest method, but in comparasion with minutes of waiting to dialog

    Totally agree. I have more then 150 tables in document, and every time I want to add cross reference it takes MORE THAN A MINUTE!!! to show the dialog. If I delete tables it takes 3-4 seconds for 200 pages long document with some tables
    One option is to add check box, another will be simple to remember last choice for selected paragraphs.
    Here are some timing results.
    System: MacOS Mojave (10.4.6.) - MAC Pro 2009 -> 65 s / 3,5 seconds (186 tables / 57 tables in document)
    System: MacOS Mojave (10.4.6.) - MAC Mini 2018 - 32 Gb - > 28 s / 1,5 seconds for same document
