That is possible - select multiple objects and DONT set a key object. then it should work just fine.

You can just type "italic" or "oblique" and it will only list those. not perfect but works for me.

    Check your object formats:
A: With all documents closed (This will fix newly created documents but not your existing docs)
B: In the document that has the problems (see above... already created documents will have the wrong styles as well)
C: Click the rectangle-tool without creating one - do you have a stroke set? if so the new frame will be created like this - likely caused by "A/B"

    :)

Workaround till it's fixed - add a space before your chevron and give it a negative kerning of something like -600

That happens because this is a document preference and an application preference.
You have to make this setting with all documents closed (newly created documents will have it enabled then) but in your old documents it will still be turned off.

So... You have to check it every time you open a document and yes it is a horrible design choice of the preferences in general.

PDF on what is a document setting can be downloaded here with a free membership (this is no ad for ind. secrets.. feel free to google another source)

Is this fixed in the newest update? kbdoc doesn't count as a fix for me

    Bastian S. commented  ·

Why do we have the cloud if you dont use it for updates... just push the fix

    Bastian S. commented  ·

Please fix this! The last update has some ugly bugs : <

We are fixing this with a java script snippet every time we create a new interactive pdf - would be nice to see this fixed together with some more control in InDesign itself since the options are still very limited.

Yip - happens all the time when working with books - the file has not been edited outside of the book but it still thinks it did.
(Book is on a SMB Network share)
    MacOS: 10.13.6
    IDD: 14.0.2

    - Change the setting with all documents closed.
    - Create a new document => Check if it's still correct
    - Close InDesign and restart it (Crash = Config not saved in most cases)
    - Open one of your documents => If the setting is different there it's correct (afaik) since this should be a document setting.
    - Yes this needs to be changed for every document you open (if iam not mistaken)

Wanna know what is and isn't a Document only setting?

Please help us with answers to the below queries:

    1. OS version of the machine where issue is reproducible.
2.Are the files opened simultaneously by more than one user?
    3. Does the same file which is opened as Read Only in Id 14.0.2, when opened in Id 14.0.1 opens fine?
    4. Does remounting the SMB drive fixes the issue?

    Bastian S. commented  ·

I can not confirm this behaviour in our SMB Network.

    High Sierra 10.13.6
    InDesign: 14.0.2.

    Hello All,

We thank you for your patience all this while.

Addressing this problem has been tricky for us given the random nature of the issue.
Determined to resolve the issue, we had launched our investigation into the matter to identify the root cause and fix it.

Many of you must have received email from us seeking more details about the issue.

We have concluded our investigation and came up with the below mentioned finding:

It was found that, most of the times, users were trying to drag an empty polygon which was leading the confusion because the legacy behaviour of InDesign allows dragging of polygon only from its edges or the centre most point.
If the user tries to drag it from any other position, the object cannot be moved.

We have tried to improve the user experience in this regard. You can try the same in InDesign’s latest…
