1. V18.4-18.5 Text boxes shrinking fractional and hiding last line of text PLUS then 'over-set text' error message not flagging this problem up

   I sent a job to print and after it came back 3 text boxes had shrunk fractionally to hide the last line of text. When I then went to make a press-ready pdf, it didn't flag up this error by warning me of "over-set text", so I did not catch this problem in time.

   Please see attached files -

   My stage 5 of the document, and then the final artwork file for it, with the boxes highlighted.

   I didn't get any warning messages for 'over-set text' to flag this missing text up.

2. New cross reference dialog: search bug

   May be this isn't a bug per se, but it's nasty. When having the "New cross reference" dialog open and with no particular paragraph being selected, you see lots of garbage in the list on the right side. If you search for a specific headline, you'll find it, but not being listed in its actual format, but with the page number attached. You might then think this is just for display, but no, if you add it that way, it adds the text of the cross-ref as shown in the list, with page number. Even if you selected a cross-ref format without page number.

   For me, this is a concept flaw.

3. Fonts Issues with InDesign Files (18.5), file sync in OneDrive laptop keep show missing fonts.

   The same file was saved and synchronised in OneDrive. Laptop A can open it with no problem/no missing fonts, but laptop B have this missing font issue every single time it opens. Noted that 2 laptops are the same model, same spec and same version. Both has the same fonts installed as well.

4. Sinhala text render issue

   When typing or copying texts in Sinhala unicode font, the output is rendered incorrectly. For instance, "‌ෙ + ට +ා" must be rendered as "ටො" but in indesign it is rendered as "ට‌ො". It does not create any difference by changing the keystroke pattern. "‌ෙ + ට +ා", "ට + ‌ෙ + ා", "‌ෙ + ා + ට" renders the same output. I tried changing renderer to "World-ready paragraph renderer" but nothing changed in rendering.

5. Adobe InDesign 18.5 missing Fonts

   Missing Fonts in Adobe InDesign 18.5.

   Hello,
   Our Corporate Font is always missing in Adobe Indesign 18.5. Our IT checked the Font istallation, Libraray Font Cache ... and we got the Info, it is only an Adobe InDesign problem. Cause the corporate Font is in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop available.

   The complete Grafik Team has installed otf and ttf Fonts. (And no we don't use Postscript Typ 1 Fonts.) 😉

   Our Typedesigner tested the Font, everything is ok.
   We are using InDesign 18.5 on Mac Ventura 13.5. Deinstalling and install InDesign 18.5 new didn't solve the Problem. The complete Font-Family is not available in InDesign.

   Could you please fix that Bug, otherwhise we can't produce or adverticements and commercial materials in InDesign, cause or corporate Font is not avialable in Adobe Fonts or other Font Stores.

7. Using a decimal tab negatively affects line breaks

   InDesign 18.5 on Mac
   Providing the steps would involve too many specific formatting choices, so I'll just describe what I'm seeing instead. I have a two-column text box for endnotes (literal; not InDesign-generated. E.g., "[tab]1.[tab]Note text."). I want the descriptors to align on the decimal point. When I use a decimal tab, the following text breaks like this:

   [tab]6.[tab]Paul Renouard, Docteur Char-
   cot, cover of...

   The width of the text frame, however, will clearly accommodate "cot, cover." If I change the decimal tab to a right tab (and adjust its placement slightly so that the period is in almost exactly the same place), the line reflows as

   [tab]6.[tab]Paul Renouard, Docteur Charcot, cover
   of...

   I've checked hyphenation settings, justification settings, and so on, but nothing will let the line rebreak as it should EXCEPT changing the decimal tab to a right tab. In fact, even if I try to a single letter after "Char" with the tab set as a decimal, InDesign forces the letter to the next line when it will clearly fit on the first line. Attached are two images showing the difference.

8. Text disappears when creating buttons if text wrap is on

   I am using the lastest version of Adobe InDesign 18.5

   Try to create a button including a more than one text box. Nothing overlaps. The text boxes have text wrapping applied. Group the elements and create button.

   Create a "rollover" appearance state.

   The text will disappear as if something is causing it to wrap and there is not room for the text even though there is nothing for the text to wrap around.

   The text should not disappear when creating buttons using text boxes that include a text wrap.

9. Alt + numeric keystrokes does not work

   ASCII codes not working, that is keeping the LEFT ALT pressed, then typing ASCII codes on the nymeric typepad, finally releasing the LEFT ALT. For example Alt+0167 will give you the paragraph symbol.

   Unfortunately, in the newest versions of In-Design, when the LEFT ALT is kept pressed, the program does not accept as input the whole string when Alt is released, but is considering each keystroke as a separate entry, even though Alt is still pressed, something that worked in Windows for 30 years.

   So, since I had some shortcuts (eg. Alt+6 for a specific character style), when wanting to get the paragraph symbol (Alt+0167) it simply does not work. I had to change the shortcuts using numbers from the keypad. And believe me, it took me a lot of time to find out who the culprit was.

   So, please, restore the program to how it was, how ALL Windows programs work.

10. Some text appearing bold where other text in same text box appears as it should

    Identically formatted text showing up differently both in document and after pdf export. Likely connected to the neglected bug regarding transparent .png files causing bolding in text elsewhere in document.

11. Text rendering bug during regular works and also in the presentation mode

    Hello, I am facing a strange text rendering bug in the InDesign v18.4 on my Mac Pro 7,1 during regular work on the InDesign document (it doesn't matter which one), mainly while using magnifying glass tool (zoom in / zoom out) and during the presentation mode (see video and screenshots).

12. Wrong hyperlink position when using index entry fields in imported document

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
    InDesign 17.4.2 / 18.3 (identical behaviour)

    Steps to reproduce the issues

    Create a Word document in .docx file format, add some text and some index entry fields, then a hyperlink at the end
    Save file and place in InDesign

    Expected result
    Document is imported and hyperlinks remain in the same place

    Actual result
    Document is imported and hyperlinks are shifted backwards by 1 character for each index entry field.

    The error occurs regardless if you place the document into an existing text frame or create a new text frame by placing the document.

    This renders existing hyperlinks in a document completely out of place and unusable, especially for later EPUB exports.

    InDesign 17.4.2 / 18.3 (identical behaviour)

13. Paragraph Keep Options to "Start on next Odd Page" confused by Text Wrap

    Noticed a strange behaviour with keep options. If Keep Options says to start on next odd page, and there is Text Wrap that makes the upcoming odd page unavailable the Paragraph may start will start on the next available text frame, even if this is on an even page. I would have assumed that the Paragraph would start on the next available odd page.

    (How do we post a test file if we cannot attatch indesign file ot zip ? )

14. InDesign 18.3 Arabic variable font bug (MacOS)

    In an Arabic variable font it is not possible to apply the font variation to a single glyph without breaking the shaping. In Illustrator 27.5 the expected behaviour (variation of an individual glyph without breaking shaping) works.

15. selection story

    I have a couple of documents with the same type of tables on several pages. I mark 2 of 3 columns and want to change all letters and numbers in that one to x. So I use the search/find to do this and I mark "Selection" to just change the selected ones. Works fine. So I move to the next page with the Search/Find Windows still open. Then I mark the new 2 columns and want to change them as well. But now the "Selection" have changed to Story".
    Every time I mark a new set of columns, it changes the selection to "Story" which must be a bug or at least something you can adjust to work better.
    If I close the Search/Find window and go to a new page and select the columns, it works fine. Then it's still using "Selection" as default. But not when I keep the window open while changing paging, which is kinda annoying.
    I hope you can fix this, so I don't have to change the dropdown from Story to Section all the time.

16. Indesign not reading fonts correctly.

    I've been using our corporate fonts (Concon and Avenir), successfully for months. Using latest updates from CC Indesign and Photoshop and Illustrator. Never any font conflict issues.

    All of a sudden last month one document in Indesign stopped recognising the fonts. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling both the fonts and the program apps. I've tried installing the fonts in Adobe folders as well as on my PC.

    It's super frustrating as every time I open the document, I need to go back and correct all the fonts. It let's me resolve them by re-selecting a font for highlighted text, but doesn't save when closed.

    Please help!

18. text box link

    This is a bug affecting my Windows 10 version (18.3 x64) that has been happening for the last week or so, presumably with the latest update. Text box links will break for no reason leaving the content displayed in each text box as its new content. I actually watched it break the connection between the text boxes while I was doing nothing to my document.

19. Multiple cross-references for same index entry are not in alphabetical order

    When multiple index cross-references ('See' and 'See also' references) are added under an index entry, they are listed in the order they are added, and not in alphabetical order, as they should be. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the order afterwards. The only way is to add the cross-references in alphabetical order from the beginning.

20. Missing info in text panel

    Suddenly all information in the text panel is gone. I had it working a couple of minutes ago but cannot get it back. The information is up in the head of the workplace but not on the panel. Pls look at the screen shot to what is missing.
