Object States panel - Renaming is not working
InDesign isn't allowing me to rename the different states in "object layer states". I have looked this up and there are a couple of other people who have posted about the same thing. I am running InDesign 16.0.2 and its on a MacBook Pro running the OS BIg Sur.
The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update to InDesign - InDesign 17.1 available through CCD app.
Please note that you would need to update to the latest macOS Monterey 12.1 also to see this working correctly.

This issue is a huge drag. Certainly there is more you can do than sitting on your hands and waiting for Apple!?!?!

Hello,
I am also struggling with this problem. I am on a MacBook Air (2017) running Indd 16.2.1 on Mac OS Big Sur vs 11.
I use the multi state panel a lot with my interactive brochures. I am unable to rename the states in this panel. Floating the panel doesn't work. Nothing seems to work.
Thanks.

Hello,
I have the same problem. I am running InDesign 16.2.1 and Big Sur.I can't rename the different states in "Object layer states" and layers. When I click on a name there's a brief flash of an editable name then it goes back to normal uneditable state. I tried renaming in the Layers palette and that seemed to work initially but then started the same behavior.
Thank you
