CC2018 exporting pixelated PDF
Every export setting is giving same result.. Some have hidden items showing up. all have pixilations. Illustrator is exporting perfectly, I use 1 of 2 export settings for everything we do here.
Fix of the issue is now available in InDesign’s latest November’17 update.
Please upgrade to the latest version InDesign CC 13.0.1 for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.
Thanks,
InDesign Team

Hi there,
I'm having an issue with PDF exporting out of ID CC 2018. Using the High Quality export results in a VERY pixelated PDF — very unsuitable for print. Adjusting the preset settings also does not fix the issue.
I've re-tested back in ID 2017, and the issue doesn't exist there. -

It looks like the compression setting on PDF export are broken.
WE sent a high resolution PDF to a vendor and he told us that the image on the file was rasterizing, I checked the file to make sure the link image was not missing or not the correct format. Image was save as .phd 300 dpi as sharp as it can be. It was placed in InDesign as a link but resize to fit the printable area, which make the effective ppi of the file 4310, when exporting with the regular settings for compression (Bicubic Downsampling to: 300, etc) the resulting PDF give a raster image as a result. If we turn off the compression then we get the image as sharp as we need.
Trashing preferences in InDesign did not help, we got the same result with several images when compression was on and the image was scale down. -

Hello, serious issue when exporting a pdf with the indesign 2018cc. both low and high rez pdfs view extremely pixelated, its not viewing links properly. i can tell its not exporting and embedding tiffs and pdf links in the file i am exporting. The size of the file is even extremely low. i download the 2017 version and exported the exact file the same way and the file viewed fine and the size was a lot larger.

Could you please check if the preference of Check Links Before Opening Document is checked or not in Edit > Preferences > File Handling.
Also, make sure this setting is not being migrated from your InDesign CC 2017 (Version 12.0) setting are not being migrated to Version 13.0 preferences. If so, you will have to trash preferences of earlier versions as well along with Version 13.0 preferences and then launch InDesign 13.0 with the default settings, ensure that the preference Check Links Before Opening Document is checked or not in Edit > Preferences > File Handling in ON, now open your file and click on Update Links if the dialog is shown, try exporting your PDF. -

@anasuiya thank you...with the reset of preferences it's now working fine. The problem is gone!

Did you try deleting the InDesign preferences, cache and the plist file?
Please try after deleting the "com.adobe.InDesign.plist" file at ~/Library/Preferences along with the Adobe InDesign preferences folder.

Using you files, I am able to export a high quality PDF using InDesign CC 2018.
Did you specify some compression settings, color profiles conversion, or are the links on network? Please share the PDF presets that you used.
Also, did you try exporting the PDF after trashing the InDesign preferences and cache? -

I've the same Problem after the update of inDesign CC 2018. All my PDF Export, doesn't matter the setting, are pixelated. I use always the same settings since 2 years but after the update last week i can't generate a High Resolution PDF anymore.

I have used every export setting given in a standard installation along with custom, all with the same result. PDFx1a through x4 all of them. Set up is this. Pdf placed into indesign document, some text added and then exported to a pdf. I have tried several other document. The tri-fold was created in indesign with the logo and graphics placed from Illustrator as AI files. This is a huge problem, Work is stacking up behind me.

We have implemented own link resource handler to handle own URI.
When exporting an InDesign to the format "Adobe PDF (Print)" the referenced images using own URI will not be rendered in high quality. Only the stored low resolution images is shown in the PDF. All other export formats (even "Adobe PDF (interactive)") work properly.
As workaround we have written a responder that embeds the HiRes images in the document when exporting, but unfortunately this crashes in some cases (not clear when).
We expect that InDesign exports the images properly.
