Tools are now blocking me from being able to close open documents in InDesign
Since updating to the newest version: V 18.5 the tools bar is now blocking the name and the ability to close down the first document. For accessibility reasons, I need the toolbar to remain on the left without blocking access to the document.

Cannot adjust layout
Cannot adjust the layout from a 6x9" doc to 5x8". Have done this successfully with over 14 indesign documents.

major error please help
I was just updating the file for some revision, when i printed it out as pdf, I noticed my first page is empty. I went back to my indesign file and saw that my spread became so small ( actually its the pages 1, 4, 5). theres this black color and somewhat black rule guide which ididnt put in and I cannot select.. I dont whats happening here... please help..

Be able to anchor already created text box
Use Case Scenario: Create text box, use text box. Realize it'd be nice to anchor already created text box to another text box/object/???.
Current workflow: copy text, delete text box, find anchor point, insert anchor point, adjust anchor point, create anchored text box, copy text box, further adjust text box.
Desired workflow: right click on text box/text -> select "anchor to [text/object/???]", anchor to [text/object/???], adjust anchor point settings. No need to redo entire content.Why can't this be done? It's always an option for non-text box content boxes/objects, correct? So why can't text box boxes also considered content boxes?…

adjust layout not resizing all pages in file
Why would Adjust Layout only resize the first 2 (out of 128) pages in my INDD doc? It's only happening on one file. all others resize all 128 pages...as far as I know, the file structures are all identical (they were copied from a master template)...

Glitches on Indesign version 18.2.1
We have glitches with indesign 18.2.1 with graphics card Geforce RTX 3060 (newest driver) on Windows 10 (newest patches).

日本語縦組みの後注で、欧文が意図せずに回転してしまいます。正常に表示されていても、いつのまにか回転しています。また、スクリーンには正常に表示されていても、PDFに書き出すと回転していることが多々あります。

spelling checker word is off-centered in box
There's a bug in latest update for InDesign — spell check — the word that is identified as possibly misspelled is not centered in the box (screen capture attached below).

Layout Adjustment Moves Anchored Frames
Layout adjustment moves anchored frames vertically even when the anchor is set relative to the text baseline and the text baseline doesn't move.
***Worse still, the shifted frames also DO NOT SHOW AS OVERRIDDEN even though their position no longer matches the settings in the object style applied to the frame.

Magnetic layout - Snap to guides not accurate
When placing an element (box) against a page grid - or guide line, the element is not placed exactly at the grid rulers. It's always slightly off. This problem occurs after an earlier update from InDesign. It doesn't matter if it's a new or an old document. We work with InDesign 18.1
We produce a lot of magazines and also a newspaper where grid and content measurements must be accurate.1 vote -
I want to use the Japanese ver. InDesign with English UI.
I don't understand why some features like Ruby Text are only available in the Japanese version. Why can't we just change the language?
I did find a work-around to install the Japanese version and change the UI to English, but if I do that, all the hotkeys disappear like CTRL+C.

Japanese paragraph composer adds space after
Issue: After changing paragraph composer to Japanese Paragraph Composer, text shows space after larger than setting. Space-after persists when set to 0 (zero).

alternate layout - copy text variables (just like styles to new group)
I had a job that was originally designed to be a PDF online in color. Then at the last minute, the client asked for a B&W version for print (to keep costs down). They still weren't done editing so I made an alternate layout and checked "copy styles to new group", then made all the color adjustments to those styles and the new B&W master pages. However, I had a running header in the original version. Well, the running header on the B&W version picked up the last section head from the color version, making the B&W version incorrect. I…

Autosize text boxes not refreshing
InDesign 17.3
Autosize textbox with anchored autosize text boxes, if the anchored textbox resizes to match the text, often, the parent autosize text box does not change to accommodate it. The child text box increases size and overlaps the text boxes or other anchored items around it. A provisional fix is to manually resize the parent textbox which causes a refresh. Can't create snap to baseline style
I just paid for and downloaded ID 17.2.1 after using cs6 and need to meet a deadline for a four page newsletter. I can't seem to find any buttons whatsoever that allow me to create a body style with the text snapping to the baseline. My text is all over the shop. Did I just do a faulty download, or am I missing something? Where is the option for baseline snapping or not snapping?
1 voteAlign to Baseline Grid option is available in the Paragraph panel.
It is also available in the Paragraph Style dialog under the Indents and Spacing section - Align to Grid.

Tabs issue - when using tab to force text to align it create a 0.

locked layers are invisible
I have an issue with locked layers: they are invisible in the layer-panel. I can only see them in the layout-view. I cannot edit, delete or unlock them. I can only make them invisible by disabling the "eye".
This happend to a file that was packed about 2 years ago. Unfortunately, even the IDML-File can't be edited. What's wrong?
