InDesign 2026 (v 21.01) Won't lock "Constrain Proportions"
When resizing an object, Indesign 2026 won't retain the selection 'Constrain proportions for width and height' when clicked from the properties window.

Drop Cap kerning and tweaking
Can the team look at users being able to kern and make further edits to Drop Caps, to fit better with body text rather than having to manually paste in an anchored object to get it to look the way we want?

Selecting placed file no longer selects that file in the Links window.
In InDesign 2025 and earlier, selecting a placed file (such as a placed Photoshop background) used to select and highlight that file in the Links window. In ID 2026, it no longer does that. This was an invaluable feature for those of us that have hundreds of linked files and need to use the Edit In function. Can you please bring back the feature.

Alert: "Incompatible file detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed" for scenarios when User Settings can not be imported
When I try to export user settings from GA, Beta or Pre-release and import into any of the others I get the error
'Incompatible file detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed.’
The current pre-release cannot even import a settings file from 6 months ago

Unable to Stretch InDesign Across Two Monitors After Update
Environment:
OS: Windows (PC)
InDesign Version: 21.0 x64
Hardware: Dual-monitor setupIssue:
After the latest major update, InDesign no longer supports spanning the application window across two monitors. When attempting to resize the window to cover both screens, the UI automatically snaps back to a single-monitor configuration.
Expected Behavior:
The application should allow the window to extend across multiple monitors, as was possible in previous versions.
Observed Behavior:InDesign reverts to one monitor when stretched across two.
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop continue to support multi-monitor spanning without issue.Question:

Indesign-Dateien die älter als 2 Jahre sind lassen sich nicht direkt von einem externen Firmen-Server öffnen. Sie müssen immer erst vom Firmen-Server auf die lokale Festplatte kopiert werden, von dort geöffnet und dann auf dem Firmen-Server überspeichert werden. Ein nerviger Workaround.

palettes stay closed
Our entire department recently did the newest update to Adobe InDesign (21.0)
Steps to reproduce the issues: Close document and open another oneEvery single time I open a new file (which is many times per day) the pallets do not pop open. The workspace still looks like it should and when I click on a pallet to use it, it highlights like it would if it was popped open for use but nothing happens.
Expected result: Pallets pop open so I can make changes on my file

Workspace resets every time I open (InDesign 2026)
On the new InDesign (v21.0) all of my workspaces have been reset and aren't saving properly every time I open a new document. I even set up my docked tabs and tab groups and saved them to a NEW workspace within a fresh 2026 file, and it reset to a default state next time it's opened. It seems to ignore all of the tools I've chosen to remove from their tab groups and opens with all of the default tools within those tab groups.

Adobe InDesign 2026 doesn't play well with 2025
It's absolutely ridiculous to me that the 2025 version and 2026 version are incompatible with each other. I can't open old files easily with the new software. I can't drag and drop items from an older file to a new file. The functionality is absolutely awful. Do better.

ID2026 Export Issues
Exporting PDFs and IDML files in ID2026 is taking far longer than it does to do the same export in 2025, and I'm losing almost all of the hyperlinks on parent pages when exporting to IDML.

Unable to select multiple objects
Yesterday InDesign 21.0 was forced upon me and it is nothing but issues.
This very annoying issue is that I can't select multiple objects. I click one, I hold shift to select another one - and it deselects the first one. I have tried every possible combination of keys, and multiple restarts. I can only select multiple objects by dragging across them, which does not work for all layouts, or by using CMD-A.1 voteHi,

InDesign 20.5 nonresponsive in paragraph/character styles after Windows update KB5065789
After a Windows 11 update to "September 29, 2025—KB5065789 (OS Builds 26200.6725 and 26100.6725) Preview" InDesign is nonresponsive hanging for minutes at a time trying to navigate menu options in Paragraph Styles and Character Styles.
The same happens with prior versions of InDesign with this Windows Update.
Confirmed the problem occurred on two different users/machines, with a new blank document.2 votes -
notes tool deactivates midway through typing note
Every time I try to add a new note, the window to type the note briefly activates, but midway through typing my note it deactivates and greys out, deselecting both the note and the whole text thread it is part of. To continue typing the note, I need to click back into the text frame and use the arrows to get to the previous or next note to reactivate it. Then it deactivates again a second or two later. Why is it doing this? I am using 20.4.1 x64.

Documents appear blank after waking computer from sleep
Anytime I leave documents open, and my computer goes to sleep (even display sleep), nothing is viewable until I close the file and reopen it. I had this problem previously, and in typical Adobe fashion it stopped and has recently come back. Incredibly annoying, and happens every time when documents are left open and the laptop goes to sleep. Seems to mostly happen when connected to a 2nd monitor.

Restore “Next/Previous Window” shortcut functionality when Stage Manager is enabled
When using InDesign 2025 on macOS Tahoe with Stage Manager enabled, the Next Window (⌘`
) and **Previous Window** (⇧⌘`) shortcuts do not work. Even if the shortcuts are reassigned in Preferences, InDesign cannot cycle through open documents.What’s happening:
Stage Manager collapses all InDesign document windows into a single OS-level container. macOS then reports that InDesign has only one window, so InDesign’s “Next/Previous Window” commands never cycle.Why this is critical:
