  2. Master page effects don't render properly unless overridden.

I have a drop shadow on a Current Page Number marker on my Master page.
On the document pages, the marker renders the correct page number, but the drop shadow is always the character that's rendered on the Master page (In this case, a "B").
Only if I detach the item from the master page will it render properly.

  4. IDML save changes Object Styles/Transparency Settings

When I export a package the resulting IDML and INDD files are different.

In all cases, the IDML file appears to randomly assign different transparency settings to random objects across any number of pages. One Object Style was changed to 60% opacity when it should have remained at 100%. In another a drop shadow was applied at 75% and Opacity was set to 60% for the image inside a graphic box, when neither effect had been turned on for the content of the box object.

It has taken me awhile to track down. My partner was opening idml versions of…

  5. Anchored item with white overprints

    This is a 'white' bug.

I regularly use anchoring to keep items aligned and for spacing.
Text is black. Art or tables need white in them to knockout the shade beneath.

When a table is placed inline or a piece of art is anchored in a text box that has a color or a border... the white is ignored in the anchored object.

There is no reason to ignore a color just because it is inline or anchored.

This bug forces me to layer the object on a different layer, causing extra work in keeping the item aligned after edits.

  6. Bug: Schein Nach Aussen -> Größe lässt sich nicht verstellen

    Bug Report (in german):

    Windows 10 / 64-bit,
    Indesign Version: 14.0.2 x64

Steps to reproduce (in german, because german indesign version):

    2. Auf "Effekte" klicken (Das "fx"-Symbol im Fenster "Steuerung")
    3. "Schein nach außen" auswählen

  7. Effects not working correctly

Some of the "effects" (inner glow, outer glow, basic feather, etc.) do not work as they are supposed to. For example, I cannot get the "outer glow" effect to apply only to text, it either applies itself to the whole object or it applies a very faint glow that can hardly be seen and that no amount of adjusting will fix (yes, I know that I have to choose "text" from the drop-down menu and unclick the effect for the "object"). And, just now (11/8/2018, 1:30 pm), I was trying to apply a gradient feather to just the "fill" of…

  8. Shadow Effects Washing Out Image

I am using InDesign 14.0.2 on a Mac with Mojave 10.14.3.

When trying to add a drop shadow or inner shadow, the image gets washed out. I've provided screenshots that show the image with and without effects.

My supervisor also noticed this on her computer. I believe she is on High Sierra and CC2019 but I don't know if it is up-to-date on her machine.

    BUG
Periodically, transparency function stops working. Objects previously displayed as transparent no longer render that way. Usually restarting indesign fixes it.

  12. tiff transparency

Transparency of TIFF files does not work in InDesgin. The same files worked well in Windows, Photoshop. I have to get around by batch transform TIFFs into PNGs in order to save the transparency. Please fix it.

The attachment is one of my TIFF files that doesn't work with InDesign only.

  13. indesign cc transparencies have lines

InDesign CC 13.1 renders transparencies with lines running through them. Appear to be just in screen display. Transparency does not print or export with lines. It's
still very annoying. Is this a bug that is being worked on?

  14. eyedropper

The eyedropper suddenly stopped working correctly. See attached images to show which eyedropper options are selected and what the result is. The color should be a flat blue and instead a gradient effect is being applied. This is happening repeatedly throughout many charts within this document. I'm in InDesign CC and it's up to date. I just reset all of my preferences manually as the shortcut keys have never worked for me and my pages panel stopped working.

  16. Problem with drop shadow exposure when placing from Illustrator into Indesign

I am using the latest version of Indesign (14.0.1) and Illustrator (23.0.1).
When placing a .ai file with transparency in Indesign and then making a drop shadow (in Indesign), the transparant parts of the object has the drop shadow above it, instead of beneath... :0

  17. BUG: Imported InDesign file gives wrong preview

When I create an InDesign 'web'-file and apply a gradient feather the preview of this file does not show the elements which have the effect applied to.
When I create a new 'print'file with the same dimensions and elements the preview is correct.
It seems strange that these files seem different in their backbone somehow.

  18. drop shadow issues

    Hello!

I'm trying to do an A3 poster with two layers:
Layer one: A rectangle a white-black gradient fill and some line option and drop shadow applied.
Layer two: Some text frames with white text with black strokes.

When I add drop shadow to the text it looks just as intended on screen.

But when I print it out on a big, expensive Samsung X7600 Series printer, I get a kind of gradient color in bottom of text frames. As if I had applied some color to the frame.
(Please see the attached file "indd cc print screen".)

    I have…

  19. InDesign changing opacity for an unselected item

I am trying to place a slightly opaque rectangle over an image but when I select to lower the opacity on the rectangle, the image (regardless if it's above or below) changes as well.

What's more odd is when I select that photo after I do the action, the image says it is at 100%. The "change" has not been reflected. I have uploaded a 1-2-3 photo demo. Note the photo's slight change in transparency although set at 100%.

This happens when the photo and rectangle are in separate layers, as well. The two items are not placed within each…

The magic of InDesign’s effects all happens via Adobe’s transparency technology, which allows us to blend colors and detail from different objects. In order for it to all work there has to be a consistent color space for InDesign to use when it blends colors. This is called the Transparency Blend Space and it’s really important that you understand it in order to get the most out of InDesign’s effects. When we use transparency effects, InDesign compares different objects and combines their colors and detail. In order for objects to be blended, they have to be in the same color space. So when you apply transparency, InDesign converts everything on a spread to the Transparency Blend Space, regardless of whether that object is actually involved in the effect. And it’s important to note that when we say things are converted, we don’t mean that InDesign alters your placed files; they…

  20. Text rendered bold when using transparencies

When using transparent boxes or png images, InDesign will randomly render some text bold. This occurs both on screen and when printing. The only way to avoid it is by not using transparencies, which is annoying. People have been complaining about this since 2011! Get your sh*t together adobe. Come on.
