    2. In table cells we put the € sign with an eighth-fourth as numbering in a paragraph format, so we don't need to type in the € sign every time. Since InDesign 18.0 the text disapears (column 1) when inserting a new text (price), as if the column seems to be too narrow. When converting the numbering into text (column 2) the text appears again. With the numbering function in it you cannot make the column smaller. There ist always a big space before the text (or after when left-aligned) (column 3).

  3. InDesign 2023 (18.0)

When attempting to switch the font family, the font menu jumps all the way to the top of the list instead of moving up to the previous font family in the list.

Hack solution: If you choose a different weight and then attempt to change the font family, the font menu works correctly and doesn't jump to the top.

This makes 2023 unusable, downgrading until fixed.

  4. Capitalisation of letters b and i triggering the command prompt to bold and italicise copy

Issue being experienced on Adobe InDesign 2023 version 17.4 (and previous version), using MacOS Monterey v12.6.

When using shift + b or shift + i commands in indesign to create capital B or capital I, the command is instead acting as I would expect if I were to key in CMD + B or CMD + I in Microsoft or code - it is changing the font to 'Semibold' (shift + B) and 'Book italic' (shift + I) and not capitalising the letter.

The issue can be replicated reliably across all fonts loaded.

    Please can this be investigated?

  5. Smart Text Reflow add pages wrongly when there are more than one story

The overset text must be added to the next text frame but it is added to new page instead.

  7. Bug: Find/Change of conditional text partially bad

    Version: Indesign 17.x, Windows 10
Description: Find/Change dialog cannot find a text that has two or more conditions set when you select one of these to find.
    Step to reproduce:
    1. Write some text and mark a word.
    2. Create two conditions, A and B, and assign them to that word. Exit edit mode.
    3. Open Find/Change and set the filter in "Conditions" to find condition A only.
Result: Indesign cannot find a match. Logical bug.

    P. S. I wanted to add an INDD to demonstrate, but software says it's not allowed

  9. Hey, can we make emoji's available for GenZ and millenial content creators?

Would make my job much more efficient if there were an emoji keyboard available natively in the software.

  10. consecutive Footnote numbering across book file with multiple sections

Currently InDesign can't have consecutive numbering across it's footnotes if you have a publication made up of a number of book files.
    It always restarts at one.
That's hopeless if you're doing an annual report where you need consecutive numbering across the entire book.

  11. Parent Text Frame Offset when Autoflowing Text

When autoflowing text, the parent page text frame is being offset on every new page that's automatically added.

In the attached screenshot, the top page was manually added and text autoflowed into it from the previous page. The parent text frame is positioned as per the top page.

    InDesign versions 17 to 19 (2022 to 2024).
Expect parent page text frame to be in the position it is in on the parent page.
Actual result: text frame is offset and has to be repositioned on every page manually.

  13. Format replacements are not counted (0 replacement(s) done when formats are changed)

Searching for double line breaks and changing the indentation to 0. It says 0 replacement(s) done, but the condition is in fact found, and the "first indent" is indeed set to 0. See attached screen shots.
Is this behaviour deliberate, since no text contents is changed, only formatting?

  14. buggy footnote placement

Footnotes are randomly placed in the middle of the text stream, rather than the bottom of the page. I've seen it happen a couple times, but I don't know why it happens. Other footnotes are placed in the correct position.

In Document Footnote Options, Place end of Story Footnotes at Bottom of Text is UNchecked. However, I get the same result if it IS checked.

The worst part is that there is NO way to correct this!

I tried to upload the INDD files, and a PNG screen shot, but in both cases, it produced an error, "Files are not…

    1. InDesign version is 17.4, Font is Myriad Arabic. MacOS 12.4.

    2. a. Set up a text variable to pick up a head from a page and insert it into a running head.
      b. Add a running head to a page that includes the text variable.

  16. Bug: Conditional text not shown as underlined when text is marked otherwise

Version: Indesign 17.x on Windows 10
Problem: Sometimes text is being marked in bright yellow by Indesign. This is something related to character spacing and hyphenation and set. If that text is also set to be conditional, the underlines are not shown. In the attached picture you see it. This is a continuous conditional text.

  17. Conditional text paste problem

    I use conditional text quite a bit… it’s a really useful feature.
However, if you have to edit the text there is an issue (for me anyway). If you “type” new/replacement text everything is fine. But more often than not I am pasting text from a marked UP PDF or an email or Word file… when you paste, it automatically defaults to unconditional, even though what it is replacing is all a specific condition. Is that a bug? Or is it just me?

  18. Type on a Path Tool interrupter flow text

When there is a story (on parent page) with some 'text on a path' above:

You can't use 'Flow text automatically' to exist pages (by alt\opt+shift) - because it moves the text in the next stories TO THE PATH!

Note: 'Smart text reflow' *to new pages works well

  19. Bug: Find/replace fonts doesn't work on hidden conditional text

    Version: Indesign 17.x
Problem: when opening a document that reports a missing fonts, replacing all instance with "Replace all" buttons might not work or not replace all when the text is conditional and currently hidden.
It's understandable that "Find first" cannot work on hidden text, because that would mean to reveal it, but "Replace" all wouldn't jump to any text part in the document, so it should work.

  20. Text glitch in paragraph following uneven 2 column text

This is from InDesign version 17.3 but it's happened in earlier versions of InDesign CC. Text paragraph after an uneven 2-column list is overlapped onto a single line. Happens only when the right-hand column is longer than the left. This error was from a 500-page hardcover book where the author printed 100s of copies!
