4. stroke window - drop down menu options

   Indesign 20.5
   In the stroke window there is functionality issue in the drop down menus - 'type' and 'start/end' for arrows etc. The drop down menu does not stay open to select an option. Very annoying and can't add arrows to lines. Also noticing the issue is in the toolbar as well for strokes.

6. macOS - Corrupt file when saving

   Sometimes saving a indd file gets corrupted on macOS when running on apps on Apple's FileProvider.

   Version of Adobe InDesign: Any version of InDesign above v19.5.4
   Steps to reproduce the issues:
   * Have a file on the cloud based on Apple's FileProvider;
   * Open an InDesign file;
   * Make some changes and save;

   Expected result: File is saved, not corrupted and uploaded to cloud;
   Actual result: File sometimes is corrupt

   The error we receive is in attachment screenshot:
   "Cannot open "18AnalysisNexusAlaskaLPGPDynamicJun25.indd".
   The file "18AnalysisNexusAlaskaLPGPDynamicJun25.indd" is
   damaged (Error code: 4)."

   There are no crashes on InDesign

7. Change Format selection for "Change Case" disappears after altering Find Format

   Indesign 2025
   When searching for a style for which I want to perform a change case operation, it works fine. If I then want to change the style that I'm searching for, when I confirm that change and return to the main window of find/replace, the parameters for the "change format" window get wiped out...I believe this only happens with change case. I tested this by changing the case in the Basic formats to "all caps". I found that if I used any other parameter, or any other parameter in conjunction with the new "change case"...the "Change Format" parameters remained...but when only using the change case parameter, "Change Format" gets wiped out if you choose a different style or parameter in "Find Format".

   In short, the first time works. If you then try to change the Find Format selection, the Change Format selection for "Change Case" gets wiped out.

8. URGENT: Add an "Empty Output" Option for Text Variables

   Currently, InDesign text variables (e.g., Running Headers) always display the last non-empty value when the source is empty. While this behavior can be useful in some workflows, it causes major problems in others. In publishing and educational workflows, having an “empty” variable output display the previous value is unacceptable.

   We urgently need a way to explicitly tell InDesign: “If the source is empty, display nothing (truly empty).”

   Proposed Solutions:
   - Introduce a new special character (e.g., “Null Variable Marker”) that, when placed in the source text, forces the variable to render as empty.
   - Alternatively, provide an option in the variable definition: “Treat whitespace-only sources as empty.”

   This is an urgent request. It affects daily workflows in publishing, education, and large-scale editorial projects and needs to be prioritized.

9. Critical Request: Disable Mandatory “Save As New Document” Behavior in Latest InDesign Versions

   Dear Adobe InDesign Team,

   Since the introduction of the most recent InDesign update (version 19.x and onward), our team has experienced a disruptive new behavior: InDesign frequently requires us to save working documents under a new name, even when opening files that have not changed location, permissions, or ownership.

   This behavior appears arbitrary and is not user-configurable. It breaks a long-standing professional workflow and creates significant confusion due to the unnecessary proliferation of duplicate file versions. As a result, our team faces increased risk of:
   • Publishing or sending incorrect versions of documents to clients
   • Compromising file version control and internal quality checks
   • Reputation damage and even liability exposure due to avoidable errors

   We must emphasize that this behavior was not present in earlier versions of InDesign, and there has never been a need to “Save As” files repeatedly for the exact same document on the same workstation by the same user. While we understand that metadata integrity or compatibility might be the intended reason, Adobe must allow professionals to disable this mechanism.

   Please provide an option in Preferences that gives users control over whether InDesign enforces this “Save As New” behavior. This should be a user-side decision — not a forced system behavior.

   Until then, this issue undermines our ability to deliver reliable, efficient, and professional publishing services.

11. dialogs dont appear infront of main app window - appear behind it would seem

    The dialog boxes don't appear when expected, (I think they are behind the main viewing window of the app) until i do a 'mission control' on the trackpad and then release it - then the dialog box appears. It's not handy at all and I only found out by accident as the box can sometimes appear on the laptop screen and not the secondary bigger screen i use.

12. Button Action 'Go back to previous VIEW' not working

    I use Adobe InDesign 20.3x64 2025 version

    I tried creating the interactive button in the Parent, in the normal pages, did all the troubleshoot tips I found, i.e. view the PDF file in Acrobat, ensured there is no special character in the file name, that I export correctly, deleted InDesign preferences.... I can't make the button work.

14. InDesign version 20.4.1: The Y coordinates for lines are the same with the top edge and the bottom.

    See attached video. I'm also having trouble updating Creative Cloud despite following every recommended fix, including repair. It won't let me delete it unless I also delete every Adobe product. VERY frustrating.

    Dear Adobe InDesign team, I would like to request a new feature for Adobe InDesign: the ability to link a word or phrase in the main (body) text with a corresponding word or phrase in a footnote (or another text frame), so that if the main text moves to another page, the linked text in the footnote will also automatically move together. This feature is very important for professional publishing workflows, especially for complex academic, multilingual, and religious books. For example, in Islamic or scholarly works, it is critical that a term in the main text and its explanation in the footnote always stay together and do not end up on different pages. 17. Converting pdf to an indesign doc removes all the hyphens

    Imported a PDF as an InDesign doc and it has removed all the hyphens. for example the word 'multi-disciplinary', has become 'multidisciplinary' - I'm having to do a find on the PDF doc and manually add them back in but wanted to let you @Adobe

18. Restore Command + Resize and Command + Space Zoom Behavior in InDesign

    In recent versions of InDesign, two essential shortcuts have been broken or changed:

    Command + Drag on a frame no longer resizes the content inside the frame as it used to — or it behaves inconsistently.
    Command + Space no longer reliably brings up the zoom tool that allows click-dragging to zoom into a selected area.
    These shortcuts were core to efficient, professional workflows for years. Removing or altering them without an option to restore the original behavior is disruptive. Designers rely on muscle memory and speed — this feels like a step backward.

    Please restore the legacy behaviors or provide an option to re-enable them. These are not minor issues; they impact productivity and long-term users who’ve supported your platform for decades.
