Ability to define a swatch that has a transparent gradient.
I want to create a swatch in the swatches palette that goes from X% color to no color. The same end result as applying a gradient feather effect but in a swatch so if I apply that swatch to an underline option in a text frame that is sitting above a non-solid color/image, the fade goes transparent and we don't see it fade to white.

gradient improvements when clicking on single color
On gradient palette, it could be useful to double double clicking on a pattern to change its color with a popup. Something like Illustrator or Photoshop

Add "Preview" button when creating a new color swatch
When you have and object selected and a fill or stroke color is applied to it...and you want to create a new swatch using a different color...a "Preview" box in the New Swatch dialog box would be helpful so you can see how it would look before accepting it. Currently, ID will apply your new swatch to your selected object(s) after it's created, so allowing adjustments at the same time could cut down on an extra step should you need to tweak the color.

Add a preference to have to toggle the checkbox default for "Name with Color Value"
Add a preference to the InDesign Preferences panel so that the checkbox default for Name with Color Value can be set. When creating a new swatch in a document, the default is for the checkbox to be on, but checking the box off changes the name to New Color Swatch. Fine if you're adding one color or many colors in a row, but if adding colors in new documents all the time, this gets annoying.

Remove color group folder when all swatches in it are selected by "Select all unused"
If all swatches are selected in a group folder by using the "Select all unused" option, also remove the group folder. This will make the workflow for cleaning up the swatches faster by only taking one action instead of also having to remove an empty group folder.

Colour picker
Bring back the old Eyedropper tool, or make it an option.. The RGB one is pretty useless when working in print.

apply swatch to monotone/greyscale with transparency (psd, png, tiff,ai).
Apply swatch to linked object only currently works with flattened greyscale psd, jpg or tiff. Often I need to change greyscale images WITH TRANSPARENCY (vector and raster) to match colors from other photos in indd. Currently I have to open psd and created several hue adjustment layers, or layers in ai with the color changes, and going back to each as I modify color in the pallette.

Duplicate page along with new swatches
Would love it if i was able to duplicate a page along with its swatches and the new page would now be linked to the new color swatches. This way i could change all the colors on the page and it would only apply to that page.
Alternatively, perhaps i would be able to create new swatches from a page, and the page would now automatically be linked to the new swatches so i could globally change a color but only for that particular page (because it created and linked new swatches for the page).
I would love this please.

Make colour space CMYK not RGB!
Since InDesign is used for printing out things, having the option to change the colour space from RGB to CMYK would be great, as trying to select a colour using colours that aren't in the CMYK gamut is annoying as heck

Delete swatch / replace swatch
Please display the swatch that will be deleted on the 'Delete Swatch' dialog box to prevent replacing or deleting the wrong swatch (which is too easily done at the moment).
Thanks

ID - Lock option - color fields / color groups
Hey there,
i wish i could lock color fields / color groups to prevent any resulting sources of error.
For example a fixed logo color which shouldn't be different.
Kind regards and big thanks!

Adjust colours directly in the gradient panel
In InDesign, I'd like the option to edit colours from directly in the gradient panel, as in Illustrator (double click to access colour slider)
Having this feature added would greatly improve workflow - at the moment, I have to add colours to a swatch panel then drag them onto my gradient slider which becomes a very tedious process when making micro-adjustments.

Share Illustrator Gradients with Indesign via CC Libraries
According to many sources online, in the old days, you were able to copy and paste gradients from Illustrator to InDesign. Now, when I copy an simple object with a complex gradient, it comes into InDesign split into many tiny objects, each with its own swatch. Totally unworkable.
Really, I should be able to save a gradient swatch to CC Library so that I can access it across Creative Cloud. Because that's what Library is for, right?
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature that should be there.
5 votesYou can add the object having the gradient swatch to the CC Libraries as a ‘Graphic’ in Illustrator. Then you can choose Place Linked/Place Copy in CC Libraries to use that object in InDesign. At this time, it is yet not possible to add Gradient/Pattern swatches to CC Libraries in Illustrator, so you have to add the object to the CCLib and then place that object in other apps like InDesign.

Out of gamut warning/highlighting
It would be nice if, like other Adobe software, InDesign offered an out-of-gamut warning/highlighting option on screen when viewing documents with Proof Colors. It could even be an option in the proof colors setup dialog.
In practice, corrections to out-of-gamut colors of placed (typically RGB) images does not take place in InDesign. I realize that. But since InDesign may be the point of conversion to CMYK for print-ready PDFs, it could be useful to have a sense of where there might be problem areas in placed images, graphics, etc.
In some sense, InDesign is last line of defense, and offering…

The color Picker is in RGB instead of CMYK
Every inDesign (my version Adobe inDesign CC 2020 15.0.2)
To open the color picker, go to the toolbar on the left of the screen and double-click on the colored square.
It would be nice if the color picker is the same in inDesign as the one in Illustrator and Photoshop. The color picker opens in RGB while we are on a document in CMYK.
We are graphic designers and we use this software because it is designed for printing professionals. The printer works in CMYK so why have a color picker with an RGB color space?Or have the possibility…

Easily Swap Color Themes
I often utilize the same template layouts across multiple brands and it would be a huge time-saver to be able to assign swatches from a color theme to the various objects, and have all the respective objects update when a new color theme is selected. So if I have Color 1, Color 2, Color 3, and then select a new color theme, the design could be updated as Color 1 -> Color 4, Color 2 -> Color 5, and so on.

Pantone colors (Uncoated Solid) are unavailable in March 15 2018 updated CCInDesignuploaded colors which don't show up.
Many Pantone colors not compatible or accessible InDesign CC March 15 2018 upgrade. Specifically 2012 U Solid
PMS are REQUIRED FOR SPOT PRINT JOBS!!!!!
When is this essential requirement going to be addressed???????
This is not something to "consider" as a feature request. It is an essential aspect of PRINT design and technology and needs to be accessible in Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.5 votes -
Variable Spot Colors from Illustrator Definable in InDesign
The ability to create a vector graphic in Illustrator, fill it with a variable spot color swatch (ie "Variable Color 1/2/3" etc.) and then when that spot color is imported into InDesign you can define it to match your project. Ideally on a per-instance basis, but even just editing the color globally from the swatches panel would be a big help. It would save hiving to make multiple versions of a graphic for each color you need - and that you may never need again.
For now my workaround is to make a layered PDF from Illustrator with a layer…
