  1. Using local alphabets in Numering Style Format (Paragraph Styles)

We have only two character formats "A, B, C, D ..." and "a, b, c, d ..." except digital. But many of us work with texts in languages with other alphabets, which are also used as indexes of lists. It would be nice to have formats of local alphabets depending on the language chosen for the paragraph. For example, if the Russian language is selected for the paragraph, then in the list of character formats, except the Latin alphabet, there will be a Russian "А, Б, В, Г..."
This property should not depend on whether the localized or English version…

  2. Easier crosschecking, resetting and copying throughout all styles

We are working with at least ten different paragraph styles per document. If there are changes to be made in the CIs we have to check every single style: Opening up the Paragraph Style Options window, changing, closing, next style, reapeat... forgetting something and opening all windows again to check.
-> How about a button in the Paragraph Style Options window to jump to the previous or next style in the list? (might be useful to every kind of Style Option window)

In the Paragraph Style Options window there is a Reset to Base button only under General.
    -> I…

  3. Keyboard Shortcut for Adopting Paragraph Style Sheets

    1. Using the text tool, click in a paragraph.

    2. Hold Option & Shift, then click a Style Sheet formatted paragraph

    3. The paragraph that had the text tool in it is now formatted to the [Option/Shift] clicked paragraph's Style Sheet.

This is one of the most time saving keyboard shortcuts from Quark Xpress.

This saves countless hours for anyone formatting text, albeit a tri-fold, or a 1,000 page catalog.

PS: If you're going to mention Command/Return to bring up Style Sheets, this is not time saving. The user still has to scroll the curser around to select the Paragraph/Character Style Sheet, removing…

  4. INDT file in Book (as styles, variables, parentpage holder)

I want to offer the option to add .indt template documents to a book, with text and object styles and text variables distributed, but excluding pages.

Thus, template documents will be possible to use not only for creating new documents, but also for distributing established styles in a book and even to many books from just one file!

The existing method of importing styles from a regular document within a single book often leads to confusion of style options if the wrong document is selected.

A file from which regular pages will not be imported will be a universal source…

  5. Toi et Moi Engagement Ring: A Timeless Symbol of Two Souls United in Love

A toi et moi engagement ring is one of the most romantic and meaningful designs in jewelry history. The phrase “toi et moi” translates to “you and me” in French — symbolizing the beautiful union of two hearts and two souls coming together as one. Featuring two gemstones set side by side, this style perfectly represents the balance of individuality and togetherness in a loving relationship.

The toi et moi ring became famous in the 18th century when Napoleon Bonaparte gifted a sapphire and diamond version to Josephine de Beauharnais, marking it as a powerful emblem of love and devotion.…

  6. Add "Fit Frame to Content" option to Object Styles

Add an "Auto-Size Frame Options" section to Object Styles that would allow the frame to automatically adjust its dimensions to fit the placed content. This feature would be particularly valuable when importing images via XML files for automated catalog production. Thank you

  7. Toevoegen verloop opties in Alinea-arcering

Alineastijlen > Alinea-arcering > Arcering > Kleur. Daar is het wel mogelijk een gemaakt kleurverloop te kiezen, maar niet de rotatie in te stellen. Het gaat nu alleen van links naar rechts. Ik zou het graag willen draaien.

  8. the ability to assign direct keyboard shortcuts to Character Styles, just as we can with Paragraph Styles

I’d like to request a long-overdue feature that would significantly improve efficiency for many users: the ability to assign direct keyboard shortcuts to Character Styles, just as we can with Paragraph Styles (Apply Style 1–9).

    Why this matters:
In many editorial and layout workflows, character styles (like emphasis, inline bold, or language-specific styling) are used just as frequently as paragraph styles.

The current workaround—creating scripts for each style and manually assigning shortcuts through the Keyboard Shortcuts panel—is unnecessarily complex for a feature that feels fundamental.

This limitation is particularly frustrating because character styles are already present in the UI, and…

  9. LINKED TEXT BOXES - SEPARATE CONTENT FROM STYLES FORMATTING

CONTENT NEEDS TO FLOW THROUGH LINKED TEXT BOXES AS THE BOXES ARE RESIZED, OR CONTENT IS EDITED. EACH LINKED TEXT BOX SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A STYLE APPLIED TO THE BOX. RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO SELECT THE TEXT AND APPLY FORMATTING. BUT IF THE CONTENT FLOWS DIFFERENTLY, THIS HAS TO BE RE-DONE. PLEASE MAKE IT SO THAT WE CAN CLICK ON A TEXT BOX AND CHANGE THE STYLE JUST FOR THE TEXT BOX, AND WHATEVER CONTENT HAPPENS TO FLOW INTO IT. CASES WHERE THIS MAKES A LOT OF SENSE: YOU MIGHT HAVE CONTENT FLOWING ONTO DIFFERENT COLORED BACKGROUNDS…

  10. Start Paragraph On Next Odd/Even Page should work inside tables

It would automaticcaly move the whole table (if use in header) or it's part to the next Odd/Even page.

  11. Include parent (master) page assignments in styles

When designing a book, every time I make a substantial amount of edits or add photos, it shifts all pages after it through smart reflow (which is great); HOWEVER, once the edits are done, part of my proofreading workflow is to then to manually. reassign CO master pages to chapter openings, "blank" to any blank verso pages preceding them, and Text to the pages that were shifted to the blank- and CO-assigned pages.

This happens EVERY TIME I make edits, and adds a SUBSTANTIAL amount of time to my workflow--unnecessarily, I believe.

I put this request on the InDesign forum…

  12. Composite object styles, is it possible to lock the style of an object?

Sometimes it's necessary to apply a style A to the caption, another style B to the image, then combine them and apply a style C. That's what I'm thinking of with composite object styles.

Here it is required to lock the A and B object styles, so that C can not affect the A and B.

This is just an idea, hopefully one day it will be discovered and created.

Also expect the graphic wrap around to one day work for the text above the anchor point.

  13. Folder coloring in styles (paragraph, character, table)

It would be nice if InDesign had the ability to colorize paragraph, table, character style folders like Photoshop has in layers.

  15. Search features for Paragrapch and Character Style Sheets

I work with very large publications, and sometimes will get them from a previous designer. When making design changes, it's essential to be able to find the old styles throughout the book to make adjustments instead of deleting an entire style and have it reflow everything.

  16. A much-needed feature is the ability to style a text frame in a thread.

A much-needed feature is the ability to style a text frame in a thread, so that the text flows between frames and takes on the style from the frame in which it is at the moment.

  17. heat transfer printing

Heat transfer printing is a method of decorating surfaces such as fabric or ceramics with designs by using heat and pressure. Such designs are often printed first on special transfer paper which is then applied onto the material to be decorated. This heat adheres this particular design to the upper surface, which makes the finishing look very attractive and long lasting. This is widely used for personalized clothing and giveaways.

  18. sort styles alphabetically with optional case sensitivity

Allow the option to toggle case sensitivity on/off when sorting styles alphabetically, so that one can use case sensitivy to namespace styles.

For documents with a long list of styles, I namespace them so that styles used accross the document are sorted first, then those specific to a section, then those specific to an element of a section, like so:

    _body
    INTRO _body
    INTRO BOX _body

I name sections and subsections in upper case to easily distinguish, but it actually is the prefix "_" that gets sorting to lay the hierarchy.

It would be nice to just resort on case…

  19. Add option to "Find this style" just like "Find this colour"!

I would be great to have the ability to find a style (Paragraph, Character or Object) straight form the panels (Ctrl + click on a style) to quickly find obscure and unused styles without having to open the Find/Change panel.

This option is already available to find a colour in a document and it is very useful, so it would only be logical to do the same for styles, no?

It would be especially appreciated when one takes over a project that’s already been started... with styles galore!

  20. Paragraph Shading should have the option to rotate a gradient swatch

It is very important to allow the user to rotate the gradient in paragraph shading. I am sure it is child's play for you developers.
