Add the Ability to turn off hover scrolling
Hover Scrolling lets you interact with the dropdown menus without ever having to click on them. Sounds cool, right?
Normally, this is not a problem, because you can easily see what has been changed because you've got an object selected. But when working with conditional text, the conditional text indicator visibility is a GLOBAL setting, and thus, hover scrolling over it can change your document, even with nothing selected. And if you're not on a page with conditional text. you'd never even know that your document got changed, until you send it to print!
This has been plaguing me for over four years and there is no way to turn it off.
I write a blog article about this and have been documenting it for four years: https://indesignsecrets.com/hover-scrolling-indesign-cc-feature-bug.php
I have made a video about it here: https://youtu.be/5uBI77mothA
InDesign needs to add a preference to our off this setting. It would be so easy! There are already preferences to disable the other annoying features, like Publish Online the new start workspace, and the new document dialog box. You could put it under "Preferences > General."
Adobe, please fix this!
Thanks for reporting this.

This has been driving me up a wall ever since it was introduced. I just went looking for a way to disable it and am disappointed to find there isn't one. Please, this is an accessibility issue, as it requires extremely precise scrolling in the Properties window on all but the largest displays to avoid accidentally changing any number of things. I KEEP accidentally changing the font on selected text. Each change counts as a single undo event. So I try to scroll down on my 16" Macbook Pro to change a Paragraph setting, accidentally change the font 20 times, and have to press command + Z 20 times to get back. What on earth????

This just happened to me on the new Text section on the Properties window. Im scrolling down the Properties window using a multi-gesture and all of a sudden the fonts on the selected text flickered through wasting processing power like a strobe light. Undo just took it to the last one scrolled. This is horrible! First use since update a few days ago...

Please add a way to disable hover scrolling (changing of dials without clicking, just using the mouse's vertical scroll wheel) in Adobe applications. It's making me lose a lot of time.

Once again, Hover scrolling has turned on "Show and Print" in my conditional text indicators. When can we get this feature turned off?? It's been seven years!

This just turned on randomly. Indesign (my favorite program) is suddenly completely useless!!!
I'm trying to get work done here, and now I'm basically SOL!

Have you turned this off yet? It's driving me nuts. I can't find any fix for it. When I'm trying to select a font, as I move my mouse down to click on the font name, the window moves up so that I can't possibly click on what I want! It moves in the opposite direction and I have no control over it. I feel like a dog chasing its tail.

The same issue was just noticed today. Scrolling over the properties Panel captures mouse scrolling inside fields.
Depending on the scrolling and the element that is actively selected, it may cause great trouble. As an example, with a text frame full of content, if during the scroll the mouse hovers any of the font-properties it may happen that, by the "Undo limits" configuration, it might not be possible to recover work done on the text frame.
A quick fix issue on this would be greatly appreciated.

Adding my support to please fix this. You made a panel that is larger than my monitor but cannot be scrolled with a mouse without accidentally changing my font and making me undo like 97 times.
Or I end up with old-german text and can't understand a thing. -

I was hoping this could be turned off. Please let us turn this off.

OMG. This almost certainly explains some of the mysterious problems I've had with typefaces changing without my intent. As the only person who ever touches the documents and no coworkers (at least not here at my home office), I have had a couple of occasions where I thought I was losing my mind. And if you accidentally hover-scroll through multiple typefaces, it takes multiple undos to get back to the original state. This really should be an opt-in setting, but at least give us the ability to opt OUT.

Agree that predictability in certain parts of the workflow is so much more important than speed. This feature is so fast it trips us.
