I thought I was the only one with this issue, had to google it. I can't believe this isn't supported on Windows. Why hasn't adobe addressed this in any way?!

Same case here... This is the last layout I do using InDesign... Switching to Affinity Publisher.

Aside from MathML, this is now the top-ranking request for InDesign without a response from Adobe. Please can we have this at least acknowledged?

As paying subscribers we were told that Creative Cloud would accelerate the development and innovation of our software tools... We're not even asking for that, just basic performance to bring the software to the level macOS users experience, or Windows users of the £49 one-off Afininty Publisher even. Come on Adobe.

May we please have an engineer or someone from Adobe at least give us an idea of where this feature is in the development pipeline?

I would love GPU acceleration on Windows! It's sad that my 7 year old MacBook runs inDesign faster, graphically, than my high performance PC. You'd think Adobe would implement this, since they already have support in Premiere and After effects.

As a PC and MacBook pro user I couldn't agree more on this. Last time when I was trying to make a portfolio about 20 pages only. My Mac would run it all very smoothly but once I swapped to my PC which has better performance in nearly every component, it lagged out and was a far worse experience compared to my mac. Atleast I still have a mac and can swap if it is required. But people who don't have it canno choose.... But atleast we all pay the subscribtion.!

I've just compared the same file on a 2012 Mac mini with Win 10 9900k, 64Gb RAM, GTX2060 machine and the Mac mini is far better performance. Adobe this is just not good enough.

Affinity publisher is fantastic though... Maybe now is the time to move the studio over to Affinity? It would perform better and save a fortune.

It's a shame. InDesign is not enabling my GPU and I'm using a 4K DELL XPS 7590. I switched to Windows (being a Mac user for almost 15 users) only for professional programs... and this is the result of the switch.

Hey Adobe, it's 2020 already.

You guys at Adobe do know that there are more Windows users out there than Mac right? This is one of the reasons I advocate so much for Serif Affinity apps as they are fast on every device and they had their Photoshop replacement on iPad before you guys were even talking about it. This is one more point in not using Adobe programs! I have to use the horrible InDesign because of work, otherwise I wouldn't touch it!

Just add it asap. This is ridiculous. A $3000 laptop is working InDesign like a $300 used laptop from 2010.

Indsing is extremely laggy comparing to Illustrator or Photoshop. This must be implemented first.

Please make InDesign support GPU performance again on Windows. I work mostly with InDesign and I think many people do too! That's one the reasons we have GPU powered computers. :)

Indesign is practically unusable on a 5K DELL monitor with GTX 1080ti. This is becoming a serious issue for more and more people. I get the fact that Macs got the GPU support a few years back because of the macbooks and iMacs with the retina displays, but now high DPI displays are also a standard in Windows environments, so there should be no more excuses for not implementing this. Adobe, you should at least have the decency to tell your customers, what's going on and why GPU acceleration still isn't implemented!
Will it ever be? Be sincere, so people can at least look to other options ASAP if this doesn't happen.

Anything that makes InDesign faster sounds a nice-to-have, but is the Mac version of GPU acceleration mature yet? The delayed update when you make a text change and then see both old and new versions of the text for several seconds is a clear UX fail. If this could be easily fixed they surely would have done so by now – or is it a sign that their initial, limited implementation of GPU acceleration is fundamentally flawed, and they're not going to roll out a comprehensive cross-platform solution until they've made some architectural changes?

I use a 2013 iMac with a Quad-Core i5, 16GB of RAM and a GT 750 GPU at work, and a Windows workstation built this year with an Octa-Core Ryzen, 64GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 at home. The now 6 year old iMac absolutely destroys my home setup. This is unacceptable and makes your entire Windows userbase frustrated! I dont see how hard it can be, seeing that Illustrator and Photoshop have had it for quite some time now!
