Hi @abhinav, thanks for getting this added to the backlog. Great to see progress! How long are we talking for implementation... will it be months or years?

Good to see this is FINALLY in the backlog. I moved back to a Mac because of this. Let's hope it's not another 4 years until this gets some development time.

It frustrates me that Adobe can roll out a UI refresh to make CC look like macOS Big Sur within days of the announcement, but for years we've had buggy inconsistent scaling and GPU performance on Windows. I can't think of any InDesign features added since CS6 that I couldn't live without. GPU acceleration is the SINGLE feature that would transform the experience to match that of the £49 Affinity Publisher.

I hope this will change but with the development needed for ARM based macs, I suspect we'll be waiting a long time for any love on Windows. Prove me wrong Adobe, please.

Aside from MathML, this is now the top-ranking request for InDesign without a response from Adobe. Please can we have this at least acknowledged?

As paying subscribers we were told that Creative Cloud would accelerate the development and innovation of our software tools... We're not even asking for that, just basic performance to bring the software to the level macOS users experience, or Windows users of the £49 one-off Afininty Publisher even. Come on Adobe.

I've just moved over from MacOS and cannot believe how bad InDesign is on Windows. I have an i9 9900k, 64GB RAM and have tried both an RX590 and and RTX2060... and performance in hi-res complex documents is substantially worse than on my old 2013 iMac.

I downloaded Affinity Publisher to compare and created the same document... the performance was lightning fast as it's GPU accelerated. I'm seriously considering ditching Creative Cloud if Adobe cannot be bothered to implement 21st century essentials like this.

(Oh, and please support 120% display scaling too, like the rest of the suite).

The display scaling across the suite on Windows varies dramatically. InDesign doesn't even have GPU acceleration. It's night and day between macOS and Windows implementations.

I don't think Adobe is too bothered about InDesign users as it's not a growth segment.

I suggest you look at Affinity Publisher as none of these are issues, for a one-off £48.99. I'm stuck with InDesign for workflow reasons and compatibility with clients... but it's worth a look.

I recently purchased the Affinity Suite and their InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop alternatives work just fine with OS display scaling... and you also get gloriously smooth GPU accelerated scroll and zoom (missing from InDesign on windows). Serif have a fraction of the resources of Adobe, be do seem to care about their users.

It's a mess across the CC suite on Windows. Having transitioned from macOS last year where it works flawlessly it was a bit of a shock.

InDesign 2020 includes a new text engine to support five new South East Asian languages: Thai, Burmese, Lao, Khmer, and Sinhala.
Your documents can now include text composed in these languages.
Hope you find this new feature useful in your work.

We’re marking this “Feature Request” as Completed.
