Yes, this is critical. The client wants to print for both staple binding (no overhang inside) and spiral binding (needs overhang inside!). Now I have to keep 2 files for different offsets for cutting. And carefully make edits to both files. Of course, you need to keep in mind that for a spiral you need to step back inward more than for a staple, but this is not so bad, and making turns by hand for internal flights is a disaster. And then the template does not work out left and right. Do something. Thank you.

Alternatively, a setting to "Include bleed from facing page" would help, which could add bleed lines to the gutter area. This would prevent the situation where designers would have to duplicate items that cross the gutter, as they would if the pages were separated.

Yes! This would solve the long standing issue of customers building their files as though they will saddle stitch when in reality, that will perfect bind which means that bleed is needed on all 4 sides including the spine side.

Maybe an option for custom page offset and a option to use the current bleed setting (x2) so if a file has 3mm bleed then the pages sit 6mm apart etc and then and option for none.

I agree with the idea of having the gap shown in normal mode and bringing the pages together in preview mode.

The current era of fast turn around, low volume digital printing has increased the need for this.

I suggest a page offset value from spine with facing pages documents.

Def. handy when there is bleed on what would be both the left & right of each page in a spread (but obviously not able to be set-up in the centre) & then the client rearranges pages - so that bleed on all pages thereafter need to be altered to the opposite side - VERY TEDIOUS (& FRUSTRATING) for long docs. We should be able to set-up a bleed for all sides which is viewable in Normal view but then the inside bleed disappears in Preview mode so that the pages are butted up against each other as it should be.

...And perfect-bound books.

This would also help for 3-hole punch documents.
